A few months ago, we went to Taylor, Texas to view the Rookery at Murphy Park. There’s an islet in the middle of small lake and it was covered with mostly egrets, some herons and ibis. Here’s a video clip I’ve uploaded, it’s a little bit shaky since it was very windy and I forgot to bring my tripod. It was a great sight to behold. We’re looking forward to see it again this year.

Texas, I know, is a great place for birding. [and you asked in your comment if the Whooping Cranes could still be there where we found them? I am sorry, but I can’t promise anything…they may, or may not…only nature knows]
Come by Austin this July, we’ll go birding at this place together. I will message you which time it’s best to view them. It’s about 45 minutes drive from Austin. Oh well, someday, I might be able to see the whooping cranes. Thanks. 🙂

pretty densely populated island! i can only imagine when they get to raising chicks, how messy and busy that must get! pretty cool to see in a natural area, though (not in a residential area like they’ve had trouble with in Dallas). 🙂
It is indeed densely populated, it’s a small islet in the middle of the lake and no one is permitted to go near it. So its less hassle on birds and humans too.

yes, cattle egret but in the whole islet there’s also great and snowy egrets.
