Warmest Christmas Wishes

Saturday, March 5, 2016
Hello for the second time today! I've seen a few blogs where people make Christmas cards through the year and have always thought that was a great idea. I came across Merry Monday earlier this week and decided to add it to my favourites in order to motivate me to get going on my Christmas cards!

This week's challenge is "tropical". At first, I drew a complete blank but then came up with an idea. My sister's name is Joanna, but I call her Kami - a nickname derived from camel. I always give her camel-themed or related gifts and cards. I found the fun camel image at bulkcolor.com and added a Santa hat from Miss Kate Cuttables. The palm tree is one I found online on Pinterest (the link to the original image is no longer valid).

The frame was cut using Stitched Rectangle dies from Simon Says Stamp and the sentiment is computer generated. I used distress inks to create the sand and sky background. The frame, camel and palm tree are all popped for a bit of dimension.

I'm so happy with how this card turned out - and am delighted that it's only March and I already have my sister's card ready for Christmas!

Telephone Card

Tuesday, February 24, 2015

I've created a fun little card to share.

The telephone is a file from Miss Kate Cuttables. In fact, it's one of the first SVG files I ever got but I've only just got around to using it now.

I used a sweet little stamp from the Craftin Desert DivasShort and Sweet Tags set. This set has such a wonderful variety of sentiments for all sorts of occasions. I LOVE the adorable little "Hi" - just right for sneaking into a small spot!

And look! It wobbles!

Thanks so much for visiting today. Have a fabulous day!

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

Only two days until Christmas! Are you ready? I've still got some of my last minute baking and food preparations to get ready so they're fresh for Christmas Day, but otherwise, I'm all set! My daughter is home and we've got a Wasgij (reverse perspective puzzle) on the go. I love setting out puzzles during family holidays as it's a wonderful way to connect at different times of the day. One of us will see another working on the puzzle and join in for a bit. It makes me happy to spend the time together having fun with my favourite people in this world.

I'm sharing a fun card over at My Craft Spot today. I started by cutting the base and mats for my 4x4 card. Before embossing the white mat, I stamped it with a little sentiment from the Tiny Tags Christmas set. The Sizzix snowflake folder is perfect to use with the Tiny Tags stamps as the sentiments fit inside the largest snowflake. Once the mats were ready to go, I assembled the sweet little reindeer from Miss Kate Cuttables (with enamel dots for his eyes) and popped him on the card. I purposefully made the base a bit smaller than the lights as I wanted them to extend off the card. This was quick and easy to put together - a perfect project for this busy time of year!

Penguin Birthday Card

Thursday, September 11, 2014

Hello Crafty Friends! I'm sharing a project over at My Craft Spot today and am sharing details here are well.

I made this card for my youngest who celebrated a birthday last month. He loves penguins! I used some images from Miss Kate Cuttables to create this shape card. Originally, the penguin's balloon was a heart, but I mixed things up to have a traditional balloon shape. I also added the numbers using my Silhouette as it's always fun for children to have their age added to a birthday card!

The little tag was cut using a die from My Craft Spot's Jar Basics metal dies set. I then stamped it with a sentiment from Tiny Tags 3.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Have a wonderful day!

Have a Fabulous Birthday!

Thursday, August 28, 2014

It's Thursday! Just one more day until the long weekend! On Saturday, we'll be heading to Guelph to cheer on my husband as he competes in his last triathlon on the season. We're hoping for good weather - and for Sunday and Monday too! We plan to make use of some of our local walking trails and to hang out by the pool before the busyness of the school season begins.

My daughter celebrated her birthday on Monday and this is one of the cards I made for her. We had a busy summer so I did not always have access to my craft room - but was able to spend time with my laptop. As a result, I created a number of digital cards. This card is a combination card!

I began with the "Shopping Chica" (#16675) image from the Silhouette store. Using the Silhouette software, I "built" her and added colour. I even used some Miss Kates Cuttables flourishes to dress up the shopping bags. Once the image was together, I used the offset feature to create the white shadow. I then layered all the images on a photo I found online.

I used a similar process for the sentiment doily. Knowing that I wanted to use Stampin' Up's Cherry Cobbler ink for my sentiment, I did a colour match (RBG) for the doily and shopping bags too!

Once everything was ready, I printed off the card. I also printed off the bags separately in order to cut them out (with my Silhouette!) and affix them for a bit of dimension. I then stamped a sentiment with My Craft Spot's Birthday Wishes stamp set.

Thanks for visiting! Enjoy the long weekend!

Cookies and a Winner

Monday, June 9, 2014

First of all, thank you so very much for all the wonderful comments you left last week during the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party and Blog Hop.  Last week was ridiculously busy for me, with a commitment each night after work, and I so appreciated reading through your kind words.  This week is a bit less busy outside the home, but we move next week (FINALLY!) and I'm busy getting ready for that.  The timing is perfect as this is my last week at work before summer holidays so I'll have lots of time to dedicate to setting up our new home.

On Saturday, I volunteered at the annual local Autism Ontario yard sale. I had also agreed to do some baking for the bake table - although I really had no time in which to do anything extra in the kitchen.  My wonderful daughter spent the day with my youngest little guy making 11 dozen of her scrumptious signature chocolatey chocolate chip cookies.  I did manage to find time to quickly design some fun tags for her using a cookie image from Miss Kate Cuttables and filled in with digital patterns from Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons. (One of the many nicknames I have for my daughter is Betty. Her name is really Erin!!)

Finally, we have a winner!  A visit to Random.org resulted in the number 20 - Indy of Indy Designs.  Congratulations Indy!  You are the lucky winner of the NEW My Craft Spot Build a Birthday stamp set!! Please contact me with your shipping details so I can arrange to have your new stamps shipped to you (smallbitsofpaper at hotmail dot com).

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day Five

Friday, June 6, 2014

Wow! This week has flown! It's already Friday and this means that it is Day 5 of the My Craft Spot Stamp and Metal Die Release Party!! Our set to showcase today is the NEW Build a Birthday stamp set. There are a number of great words and phrases that can be combined to create a number of great sentiments for birthdays (and other occasions, as seen by my project)!

My daughter recently got her driver's license. I made this card to congratulate her. I used a fun image from My Scrap Chick for the girl in the car. There are three different sizes of chevron/jagged border dies in the NEW Fancy Edges 2 metal die set. I used all three to create the patterned layer at the bottom of my card.

The cloud is part of a Miss Kate Cuttables image set. I used two stamps from the NEW Build a Birthday set to create my sentiment and then popped on an enamel dot for some added fun.

If you haven't been by already, please head over to My Craft Spot to see the rest of the design team projects showcasing the NEW Build a Birthday set.  While you are there, leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: the original Tiny Tags stamp set!

Thanks so much for popping by!  Tomorrow, Kimberly will have the full reveal of all the NEW My Craft Spot products AND we celebrate with a blog hop - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!

Feel Better Soon Tissue Box

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

It's my turn to share a project at My Craft Spot today - and I'm sharing it here on my blog too!  I've been having far too much fun making little tissue boxes lately and have another one to show you today.  These little boxes are such a sweet way to share some warm wishes when somebody is down.

I used a FREE Kerri Bradford file (available HERE) to create the box itself.  I hand cut the white mat and ran it through my Cuttlebug with a snowflake folder.  The sweet little bear is a Miss Kate Cuttables file (available for purchase HERE).

For my sentiment, I used a Lacy Banners metal die to create the little pennant and added some white gel pen around it.  I stamped the pennant with a sentiment from the Feel Better Soon stamp set.  I then finished things off with some Snow Flurries sequins.

I gave this box to a former student who popped by for a visit.  She's had a rough winter with coughs and colds and I thought this sweet bear would cheer her up a bit!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a fabulous day!

My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party - Day 1

Monday, February 24, 2014

Welcome to the first day of an exciting week!  The My Craft Spot design team has been hard at work creating with Kimberly's FIVE new stamp sets and THREE new sets of metal dies!  Each day, we'll showcase something new and end things with a bang on Saturday when we take part in the My Craft Spot Stamp Release Party blog hop - with prizes at EACH stop along the way!!

The Big Sentiments stamp set was such a hit in the last release that My Craft Spot now has Big Sentiments 2!!  I LOVE these stamps!!  For my project, I created a fun little shaped birthday card using a slice of cake from Miss Kate Cuttables.  (After I put it together, I realized that I messed up on the layers.  The cake is supposed to be smiling!  Oops!  He's still cute though.)

I embossed the blue background and then stamped a NEW Big Sentiments 2 sentiment on a banner created with My Craft Spot's Ribbon Banners - Arched metal dies.

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see the AMAZING projects that the rest of the design team has created.  While you're there, remember to leave a comment for Kimberly for your chance to win today's prize: the Happy Easter stamp set.

You're Monsterrific!

Monday, January 27, 2014

It's time for another challenge over at My Craft Spot. This week, we're challenging you to use polka-dots on your project!

Last Sunday, Miss Kate Cuttables had an adorable monster file as their freebie of the day.  I was smitten and just could not refuse trying him out!  Instead of using the hearts that were part of the cut file, I opted to use some My Craft Spot metal dies - both the Hearts Border set and Small Alphabet set.  The circle (big polkadot!) under the hearts on the mat was cut using the Tiny Doilies metal die set.  I embossed my white mat with QuicKutz Polkadot embossing folder and layered that on some polkadot patterned paper from My Mind's Eye.

I stamped my sentiment on a banner cut with My Craft Spot's Ribbon Banners - Wavy metal die set.  The sentiment itself is from Happy Haunting!!  Yes, a Halloween sentiment but it works just perfectly on my monster Valentine!  Between the words, I also added a little heart stamp from the Always & Forever stamp set.  I finished things off with some Caribbean sequins - the prettiest way to add polkadots to a project!!

Please head over to My Craft Spot to see what the rest of the design team has created this week.  Then, link up your own creation for a chance to win this week's prize!
