Shimmer
An easy way to add a simple, shimmering effect to any view
Shimmer is a lightweight Objective-C library by Facebook that adds an elegant, animated shimmering effect to views—used as a subtle loading indicator, such as in the Paper app. There's also an example project. In the example, you can swipe horizontally and vertically to try various shimmering parameters, or tap to start or stop shimmering. (To build the example locally, you'll need to open FBShimmering.xcworkpace rather than the .xcodeproj.) Shimmer uses the -[CALayer mask] property to enable shimmering, similar to what's described in John Harper's 2009 WWDC talk (unfortunately no longer online). Shimmer uses CoreAnimation's timing features to smoothly transition "on-beat" when starting and stopping the shimmer. -

SkiaSharp is a cross-platform 2D graphics API for .NET platforms based on Google's Skia Graphics Library. It provides a comprehensive 2D API that can be used across mobile, server and desktop models to render images. Building SkiaSharp is mostly straight forward. The main issue is the multiple dependencies for each platform. However, these are easy to install as they are found on the various websites. If you are just working on managed code, it is even easier as there mays to skip all the native builds. Because there are multiple distros of Linux, and we cannot possibly support them all, we have a separate NuGet package that will contain the supported binaries for a few distros. -

ZXing Android Embedded
Barcode scanner library for Android, based on the ZXing decoder
ZXing Android Embedded is a barcode scanning library for Android, using ZXing for decoding. The project is loosely based on the ZXing Android Barcode Scanner application but is not affiliated with the official ZXing project. By default, only SDK 24+ will work, even though the library specifies 19 as the minimum version. For SDK versions 19+, one of the changes changes below are required. Some older SDK versions below 19 may work, but this is not tested or supported. While this is not the primary purpose of this library, it does include basic support for generating some barcode types. To change the orientation, specify the orientation in your AndroidManifest.xml and let the ManifestMerger to update the Activity's definition. The camera permission is required for barcode scanning to function. It is automatically included as part of the library. On Android 6 it is requested at runtime when the barcode scanner is first opened. -

Bundled GIFLib via JNI is used to render frames. This way should be more efficient than WebView or Movie classes. Current development builds (build from dev branch) are published to OSS snapshot repository. To use them, specify repository URL in repositories block. For Android 4.2+ (API level 17+). Supports GifTextureView hardware-accelerated rendering, and GifTexImage2D OpenGL ES 2.0+. See sample directory. Sample project is under construction. Not all features are covered yet. The simplest way is to use GifImageView (or GifImageButton) like a normal ImageView. If drawables declared by android:src and/or android:background are GIF files then they will be automatically recognized as GifDrawables and animated. If given drawable is not a GIF then mentioned Views work like plain ImageView and ImageButton. GifTextView allows you to use GIFs as compound drawables and background. -

An open-source macOS app for designing HTML5 SVG
macSVG is a MIT-licensed open-source macOS app for designing HTML5 SVG 1.1 (Scalable Vector Graphics) art and animation. macSVG can produce dynamic, high-quality graphics and animation for HTML5 web views that work on most major desktop and mobile platforms, including iOS, Android, macOS, Microsoft Windows and Linux. macSVG uses the standard macOS WebKit framework for interactive editing and rendering of SVG documents, in addition to several Cocoa plug-in bundles for editing SVG elements and attributes. Apple’s free Xcode system is required to build the macOS application from the source code. Most of the application source code is written in Objective-C language, but a Swift language target has been added recently for a plug-in editor bundle. To build macSVG.app, open "macSVG.xcworkspace" in Xcode, set the build target to "macSVG Debug", build and run. -

Content aware image cropping
Image cropping is a common task in many web applications. Usually just cutting out the center of the image works out ok. It's often a compromise and sometimes it fails miserably. Smartcrop.js is the result of my experiments with content aware image cropping. It uses fairly simple image processing and a few rules to attempt to create better crops of images. This library is still in it's infancy but the early results look promising. So true to the open source mantra of release early, release often, I'm releasing version 0.0.0 of smartcrop.js. Smartcrop.js implements an algorithm to find good crops for images. It can be used in the browser, in node or via a CLI. Smarcrop requires support for Promises, use a polyfill for unsupported browsers or set smartcrop.Promise to your favorite promise implementation (I recommend bluebird). -

YAACC is an android upnp controller. It allows you to discover, use and control upnp devices in your network in order to stream media files. Since it's a subset of upnp it also is capable of communicating with dlna devices. It is possible to start an upnp server on your device in order to play media from your device on any upnp renderer in your network. If you start the yaacc upnp renderer service you are able to control your device by another upnp controller in the network. This is quiet useful for android hdmi-sticks plugged on your TV.
