select Plugin Manager-XML Tools Install. I get:

Plugin Manager

It has not been possible to validate the integrity of 'XMLTools.dll' needed to install or update a plugin. Do you want to copy this file anyway (not recommended)?

Yes No

I clicked "No" then

Installation Error

Installation of XML Tools failed.

OK

Windows 7 is my platform. Can something be done about having the integrity verified? I cannot remember if this has always been a problem, but nowadays, especially with SourceForge injecting code, I'm not feeling so cavalier to ignore the advice "not recommened" to copy the file anyway.

Same thing here. Would appreciate a fix soon. I'm a new npp user and really want the xml plugin. Or, somebody, just put a comment here that this is a known problem, and it's ok to install it anyway.

Same problem. I tried to update XML Plugin. I checked libcurl.dll and libxml2.dll with VirusTotal and it found nothing. But the new libxml2.dll has 4MB. The last version had just 0,9MB. The new libxml2.dll seems to be a debug version because it's bloaded with strings. I came to the point that it is SUSPICIOUS or at least it is the wrong file.

    Hi,

The warning message is generated by Plugin Manager, not XMLTools. I don't know the exact reasons which make this message appear. I think that might be a consequence of some mismatch in md5 entries of plugin manager config file with version 2.4.5. This should be fixed for versions 2.4.6 and 2.4.7.
If you still experience the issue, please indicate which version you currently use and which version you try to install.

I'm not aware of any hack in sourceforge repository in XMLTools. I did not compiled the libxml2.dll file myself and get it directly from official window port of libxml2 which can be downloaded here: ftp://ftp.zlatkovic.com/libxml/64bit/
I confess that this file is quite big and I'll try to check if it is a real release version and not a debug one.

    Best Regards

My version of NotePad++ is 5.9.8. I just tried to upgrade with the Plugin Manager; I currently have XML Tools 2.4.6. Got the same error message. I upgraded my NotePad++
to 6.7.9.2 and found XML Tools already installed (the new installation must have been patched over the old one and therefore is using the same files staged thereunder). I tried to re-install XML Tools 2.4.6 and got the same error message.

I don't exactly know how PluginManager works (source of most recent release is not available), but it's possible that the error message is published because XMLTools DLL file version (1.0.0.1 in previous XMLTools versions) does not match the version registered in PluginManager XML description (2.4.6 in current state).

Now I've updated the last 2.4.7 release on sourceforge and fixed the DLL file version. I'll wait that PluginManager public XML description is updated and check if this solves the problem.

Meanwhile, you're invited to install XMLTools manually if you don't trust the version downloaded by PluginManager. The last release 2.4.7 is available on:

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/npp-plugins/files/XML%20Tools/Xml%20Tools%202.4.7%20Unicode/Xml%20Tools%202.4.7%20Unicode.zip/download

To ensure that archive is not corrupted, you can check the following MD5:
    The ZIP MD5 is : 7014cb4fbd278e92cbb96066ad5b464d
    The DLL MD5 is : 66af01cb9424f09457aa70fb6e9cdde8

    Best Regards

I am getting this error with the AutoSave plugin.
The exact error is, "It has not been possible to validate the integrity of 'AutoSaveU.dll' needed to install or update a plugin."

Issue with ComparePlugin.dll not being able to be validated. This seems to be a recurring issue and brings into the question the open framework for developing PlugIns not being trustworthy.
