User Reviews

  • Excellent, very recommended app. It's simply the best in its field. THANKS
  • I have used this program for at least 5 years, probably more. There are a few irritations with the interface but the functionality far outweighs any problems. I don't use catalogues but I do have separate libraries for separate interests. Like any database, there are things you need to do to keep your libraries clean. Updating meta data is easy and you can download covers and other metadata if you need it. There are add-ons for cleaning and finding duplicates etc. Converting from one format to another is easy and you could start using this program, just for the conversion facilities.
  • Good
  • I've used Calibre for about three years. I like it enough that I've created the epub version of my book specifically for this app. Its UI does not have the absolute latest design esthetic, it's true - but it's open source, constantly improved and updated and there's a living, breathing person behind this project, which gives me confidence. I have not encountered the catalog problem outlined by another user. It also does a reasonable job of converting one format into another - PDF into epub, for example. As far as I can tell, it is completely safe to use. Highly recommend.
  • You had better back up all your books before using this. It will rename them, sometimes to unreadable names with numbers. It will also truncate the titles so you often don't know what the titles are, books with multiple volumes (like encyclopedias) will all be renamed with the same name and the titles cut off. Any other book managers you use will be sabotaged. It has many useful features, but you are warned against using it for making catalogs.
