Flatpack isn't solving the problem of building gtk and other dependencies, which are very much dead at this point. I hate to say this, but it's simpler and easier to just use gedit or visual studio code.

It's built on gtk2, which is essentially dead at this point, and porting to gtk3 is not going to be easy. If you are interested, I can help.

Well, I like to think that it's still alive, and an update will be released any week now, but in reality that never happens. So it's rather dead than alive...

"Just fine" isn't really that fine, if you save the file then it most likely will be corrupted. I agree that it's useful to see the contents of binary files, but medit can't handle those.

The file is indeed a binary file, and medit can't display binary files.
