Book Description:

In the fully updated second edition of Living with Depression, Serani outlines the various forms of depression, describes the different treatments, and outlines methods for living with depression and getting the help you or a loved one needs. However, since the first edition was published, much has changed in the landscape of depression including diagnostic aspects, new disorders, treatments and research, and Deborah Serani covers it all. Tips on how to choose a good therapist, negotiate the labyrinth of healthcare, and minimize stigma are addressed, as is learning how to use biology and biography as tools of empowerment. There is no other book that offers what Living with Depression – giving readers a dual perspective of what it’s like to know depression as a clinician and as a patient.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

I read the first book on depression from this author and thought it to be an amazing resource for those living with depression, for people such as myself. Though my depression isn’t as bad as some, it still takes up a part of my life. With this second revised edition of Living with Depression, Deborah Serani takes this edition above and beyond her first book.

Today things change so much, and the depression medication and treatments have changed with the new medications out. This book outlines methods to choose a good therapist, talk with your therapist, talk to your Drs about the different kinds of medicines. Sometimes the medication you are on still works, but then sometimes you can try the new meds on the market to see if it betters your condition. There are so many new options, along with the old, and it gives a lot more options that ever before.

As I read this book, taking notes, I was able to come up with lots of questions about my own depression that I can now as my Doctors. I’m giving this new book Five Stars. I strongly encourage you to check out this book.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Yesterday I reviewed the wonderful book Sometimes When I’m Mad by Deborah Serani. Today I am reviewing another book by Deborah Serani, Sometimes When I’m Sad. Sadness is something we all face, and Serani does another awesome job of writing this book to help children cope with the feelings of sadness. A few of the things this book suggest when you are sad is throwing a ball instead of throwing toys, or talk to someone such as a family member, friend or counselor.

This is a really great book for when your child is sad. The story is simple yet with so many valuable lessons within the pages. And the illustrations by Kyra Teis help bring the story to life with the perfect illustrations on each page to match the story. I love that the colors inside and on the cover match the moods of the storyline. Sometimes When I’m Sad. Is perfect for elementary and daycare classrooms. And even though this book is written for children, I think adults can benefit from the valuable lessons here in this book.

In the back of this book there is so much information that tells you how to deal with children who are sad. I think this book it very well worth purchasing. I highly recommend this book to anyone with children. This one is Five Stars for me.

A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Sometimes When I’m Mad by Deborah Serani is a really cute fantastic book that teaches children what to do and how to change their feelings when they are feeling mad. One of the things papa tells is little girl to do when she feels mad is to lay down for a while, and she does, and it makes her feel better. There are many more examples in the book and with the help of her mom, grandma, grandpa and teacher, this little girl gets help that makes her feel better.

I think this book is good for any child at any age. Everyone feels mad at times, and the valuable lessons in the book can be helpful for anyone. Serani dies a fabulous job writing this book, teaching lessons that are so valuable to learn. The sweet and beautiful illustrations by Kyra Teis brings this story to life on the pages as each page fits perfectly together. I love that the colors fit so well with the mood of each page in this book. I really adore this hardcover book and I encourage you to pick up this book for your child.
