Whilst visiting @kaikouranz we had to do the Kaikōura Peninsula Walkway, as always… a special place. This stunning coastal track wraps around the peninsula with incredible views of the Pacific Ocean, rugged cliffs and the dramatic Kaikōura Ranges rising behind you. It’s about 11km in total, but you can easily walk shorter sections and still experience the magic. The folks absolutely loved it, and we found ourselves stopping constantly just to soak it all in. One of the highlights is seeing the kekeno / New Zealand fur seals that call this coastline home. You’ll often spot them lounging on the rocks or swimming just offshore, which is pretty incredible to witness in the wild. But it’s really important to keep your distance (at least 20 metres). Unfortunately we saw a few people getting far too close just for a photo. Whether you’re visiting or lucky enough to live here, these are still wild animals, and respecting their space helps protect them and keeps everyone safe. A beautiful walk and a reminder of just how special Kaikōura really is.

What an epic day out with the legends at @ecozip_adventures @kaikouranz This was our second time doing it, but this time we got to bring my folks along too, and safe to say they had an absolute blast. The adventure starts with a ride up the hill in a serious bit of kit, a Unimog, climbing high above Kaikōura with incredible views over the coastline and mountains. Once you reach the top, the real fun begins. You’ll zip through native forest on a series of long, fast ziplines, then wander along beautiful bush walks between each platform while the guides share stories about the area, local conservation, and the unique landscape that makes Kaikōura so special. The team and our guides were absolutely awesome, making the whole experience relaxed, fun, and super informative from start to finish. It’s the perfect mix of adventure, scenery, and learning about the land, and honestly something that’s great for pretty much any age. If you’re heading to Kaikōura, this is an absolute must-do. We had to take the folks into Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park while they were visiting the @nz_mackenzie Mom’s second time. 🏔️ Unfortunately their flight with @southernlakeshelicopters was cancelled due to some pretty wild winds, it happens. So instead we headed up to Haupapa/Tasman Glacier, soaking up those incredible views! After that we set off on one of the best day walks in New Zealand, the Hooker Valley Track. With the new bridge currently being built we could only walk as far as the Kakīroa/Mount Sefton View Lookout, but to be fair… when the scenery looks like this, you really can’t complain.
