Starting The Year Slowly

January was a quiet holiday month but we did manage a few sewing days.
Mid month we enjoyed a day at Marina's house with the Gisborne girls.

And last Sunday Anne hosted a sewing day at her home. It was a good opportunity to check her progress on Irene Blanck's BOM, Paradise of Birds. Just gorgeous.

Marina finished sewing her clamshells together and then started on another project.
If you follow Marina's blog you will know that she worked her magic and the next day these clamshells became very beautiful little purse.

Of course we had to eat.
Anne made sure that we enjoyed a nutritious lunch before our sugar fix.

And a broken dishes update - now measuring 21" x  29".
The sides are getting longer and progress is slower.

New Year Surprise

For the past few years I have enjoyed swapping Christmas gifts with Merilyn in NSW and Barbara in Malaysia. Unfortunately Barbara was still waiting for a parcel into the New Year so we didn't open gifts until all were received.

This gorgeous, festive little zipper purse was made by Barbara and is already in use.

Merilyn made a beautiful Chrismas wall hanging which will decorate our house every year from now on. It is still hanging on the wall, not ready to put it away yet.
I am sad to say that I was not able to make anything, but did put together a little gift for both girls.

Still making my Broken Dishes blocks. Quilt top now measures 17" x 25".

I found this lovely Woodlands fabric by Jo Morton at a recent visit to Patch N Quilt in Gisborne.
Might make a nice border, with a added touch of mustard.
We will see what happens.

Hoping for a year of finishing at least a few projects.

Looking Toward 2016

Earlier in December I received this lovely gift from Shez. It was hand delivered by Marina. Shez is such a busy person but she always makes time to share with others. Thank you Shez.

Then later in the month a little surprise arrived from Susan, so tiny and beautifully made. Thank you Susan.

A little slow hand sewing going on here.
Just playing with scraps and broken dishes.

Just a lap size quilt to ease into sewing again.
At the moment it measures 13" x 21".

Wishing everyone a very happy New Year, may your dreams be realised and may you enjoy happiness and good health.
