Just one more ...

FG first border is finished and now to repeat the pattern on the other end.
So glad I decided on only two borders.

I am resigned to the fact that this quilt will not be finished by my 18th February deadline.
Quilt top finish is my new goal.

So with the pressure off, I allowed myself to start just one more project - Temecula Quilt Co's One Block Wednesday. I resisted the temptation until I read that Kiwikid decided to sew along.  I confided that this SAL was tempting me and she suggested that we should both join in and encourage each other along the way. No pressure just sew at our own pace.
So, starting with my recently arrived Amitie fabrics I started sewing my blocks.
Not sure where this will end up but it's fun.

The FG 9 patch continues ...

I had a plan for the decoration of the French General borders.
But it just wasn't right.

Maybe variation in size?

No still not happy.
One last try ......

Yes, this is the one, but with a change to a flower or two.
And then the same on the bottom border.

Needing a break from these colours, I was very pleased when my Amitie Stash Club parcel arrived in the mail this week.

Not sure when I can get to play with them.

FG UFO progressing

In May last year our quilt group had an in-house disappearing 9 patch workshop.
A good opportunity to use my box of French General fabric.
( Sorry about the quality of the photos.
You know how beautiful these fabrics really are.)
I started with 5 of these .....

After two centre cuts, vertical and horizontal, and a twist to the left for all quarters, this was the result .....

Wanting a bit more variation I made 4 more blocks reversing the lights and darks.

Now I had a square quilt top, measuring 48½ x 48½ with more variety.

A border and peeper strip added to each end.

Now for a bit of decoration. A few decisions still to be made.

Last finish for 2018. A small zipper bag made using a tutorial on the Fat Quarter shop blog.

It's a New Year

I never intended to stop blogging and I don't really know why I did.
I know now that I missed it.
I seemed to be more productive then.
A New Year seems like a good time to start again.
Just one blog post at a time ......

There have been a few finishes.
Our quilt group had an exhibition in November 2017 and that provided good motivation.
I finished my Scrappy Nine Patch.
Inspired by a quilt seen on the Temecula Quilt blog (a Primitive Gatherings pattern), it was machine pieced and professionally quilted. Mine are finished 1" squares and not the 1/2" squares of the original pattern.

And I did finish my Broken Dishes Quilt.
Well, it still needs some quilting in the border and a label but it is already in use.
Hand pieced and hand quilted, only the borders were sewn by machine.

My current project is a scrappy French General disappearing nine patch. Anticipated deadline is February 18th this year.

Let's see what the New Year brings.
No promises, no resolutions.
Best wishes for a wonderful, happy and healthy 2019.
