Robert put on his backpack and headed to the gym for exercise and his job as a hitman. He was dramatic when it came to tailing a job and making the hit. Only the victim knew it was him. Robert was part of the underground, and he was their best shot. Nothing could deter him from finishing his job and killing whoever he was assigned to.

Black’s Funeral Home was decorated to fit its theme and name. There were black curtains at the windows, each with a vase of flowers on the window sill.

Mr. Black thought about black flowers, but he decided that that would be too much and decided to go with just plain white flowers.

Mr. Black was getting ready for tonight’s viewing and funeral. He always dressed in a black tuxedo and wore a different bowtie every viewing, whether day or night. His socks were always black to match his black dress shoes.

His help set out the dessert trays so there was something to munch on during the viewings. They rarely had a fancy viewing that required a full dinner, but it does happen occasionally.

The team was there with the body and it is was time to get things set up and put into place. They finished setting up for the viewing not long before the guests started to arrive.

5 Daily Writing Prompts including Fandango and the 3TC, plus The Daily Spur Photo Prompt.

Today’s post includes 5 daily writing prompts plus the Daily Spur Photo Prompt.

FOWC. The word is guard.

The 3TC #MM174. The three words are undo, error and mistake.

RDP. The word is tickle.

The Daily Spur Challenge. The word is grip.

The Weekly Prompts Writing Prompt. The word is lilac.

The Daily Spur Photo Prompt.

**********

The guard made an error. He was horrified at his mistake. He forgot to lock the door. He can’t undo it and put the missing prisoner back in the cell.  He gripped the door and opened it, hoping that the prisoner was still in there by chance. He was tickled pink that the prisoner had fallen asleep while waiting to be locked in.

He was one lucky guard because if the prisoner had been missing, he would have had to explain how she got away. How do you explain that you were kissing the replacement guard? The prisoner was his responsibility.

The guard had let the prisoner pick some flowers. She had a handful of pink and lilac colors. There are many colors of lilacs. It was beautiful. The guard searched for a vase to put them in, so she could have them in her cell.

Once she was set up, he locked the door and left with his partner.

This week’s prompt features an old abandoned car which looks to be an old mid-nineteen fifties Chevrolet. It’s surrounded by trees.

**********

Jim found an old car that needed lots of work. He hired a painter. He was in a jocular mood when he hired him and he removed the car to a warehouse to work on it wanting it out of the elements and the mechanic to be comfortable and do a great job. They started to dismantle it.

He increased the amount he would pay the mechanic to encourage him to work harder. He wore an old shirt of his with no collar, so it wouldn’t get in the way. He shredded some old shirts to make rags for clean up.

Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge #336

Hello! Welcome to Melissa’s Fandango Flash Fiction Challenge. Each week I will post an image I grab off the internet and challenge bloggers to write a flash fiction piece or a poem inspired by the image. There are no style or word limits.

The image below is from Engin Akyurt on Pexels.

The image depicts a dark-haired woman underwater with light shining up from below. Her legs are bent so that her feet are behind her and we cannot see them. Her arms are outstretched, her left arm lifted. She wears a blue button-down blouse. She exhales air bubbles into the water.

If this week’s image inspires you and you wish to participate, please write your post and use the tag #FFFC. Please create a pingback to this post and/or manually add your link in the comments. I hope it will generate some great posts. Don’t forget to stop back and read/comment on the posts of others. Thank you for participating!

The crowd watched as the fire department pulled the woman’s body out of the water in the public pool. She was partially dressed and not breathing. She was the mayor’s wife, Jackie, and the crowd was busy gawking.

They started to revive her breathing, and the crowd was growing. “Let me through, NOW!” The mayor screamed. “That’s my wife.” The crowd pulled back and let him through just as she started to choke on the water. She had started breathing again.

He cradled her in his arms, and she suddenly slapped him hard across the face. “How could you do that to me and with my sister, you bastard?”

“I didn’t mean to. She grabbed me and kissed me just as you walked in from the bedroom. You know she did that on purpose to make you mad. She’s been trying to break us up for years. Ever since I became Mayor.”

“Well, she can have you. I am tired of all of the women you have trailing you. I want you to move out of the house before I get home from the hospital and take her with you.”

“But Jackie, I love you, don’t leave me now because of your stupid sister.”

You encouraged her, or you would have gotten rid of her long ago. This is not the first time I’ve seen you kissing her, so get lost!”

The EMTs moved him out of the way and took Jackie to the hospital to be checked out. She didn’t even listen to his pleading.

“I bet I know what they are doing in the picture,” Jenne says with a laugh. She put the photo down and whispered into Allen’s ear. “I bet they are kissing. See how she is raised up on her toes, and he is taller than her?”

“Oh, Jenne, you are so right. Your little brother snuck up on us and took it, and by the way, it is us in that picture. That was the day I proposed to you, and you had just kissed me.”

Gary wanted a more grown-up bedroom. He was a teenager now, and he was ready for a more grown-up bedroom, he thought. He was a gamer and wanted a gaming screen that was much bigger/wider than his regular computer for school. For school, he had a regular laptop.

His room now had more grown-up blinds and curtains. It was time to retire the old Donald Duck curtains.

It was time to replace the plush carpet with hardwood floors. It would make cleaning up after the lizards a lot easier than vacuuming a carpet. Gary cleaned out the cages and transferred them to the clean cages, and then had his friends come over to see his new room and computer setups.

He even let his mother put a few plants in there for him to take care of, along with his collection of lizards. The lizard cages took up one-third of his bedroom. Plus, he now had a queen-size bed, rather than the little twin-size bed.

Snowball looked sadly out the window as his owner, Randall, left him behind in a hot car, without even rolling down the windows. It was the 4th of July, and he had a red, white, and blue necklace around his neck, but he was left alone in the car while his owner left to party with his friends.

No one seemed to notice that he was alone in a shut-up car. There appeared to be no liquid for him to drink or food for him to eat. Who would do that to an animal. The owner was celebrating his holiday by abandoning his animal to the extreme heat.

He was really starting to pant heavily and his fur was soaking wet. The Miller family walked by the car and spotted the dog lying there panting heavily. They tried all the doors, but they were locked. Not being able to see the pet suffer the father picked up a large stick and smashed it through the front window and unlocked the door and opened it up for the dog to get some air. They had bottled water and they open one and found an old pot in their trunk and poured the water in. The dog gulped it down. They also opened their picnic basket and got out some food for him. He gulped it all down.

Snowball’s owner came running up, screaming about his broken window and how he was calling the cops.

“Go ahead,” Mr. Miller said. “This is cruelty to an animal and you will be arrested.”

“Snowball, come here.” The dog didn’t move from Mr. Miller’s side. He finished his food and water. “You no good mutt,” Randall screamed. I ought to leave you here.”

Mr. Miller said, “Don’t touch that dog again. You almost killed him. I am taking him with me.”

His family cheered, and the group that had gathered also cheered Mr. Miller on.

Randall got in his car and left. He tossed a leash out of the window.

Mr. Miller attached the leash and put the dog in their truck. Looks like he had just adopted a new dog for his farm. Snowball would love it there, and he had many dogs on the farm for him to have company, and he could roam the farm as he wished.

This week’s prompt has part of an empty wine glass in the right foreground. You can see a candle lighter through the glass. Toward the back is a candleholder with melted candles. There is a cork on the table.

“Hurry up and let’s clean up,” Marilyn said. “Mom and Dad are probably on their way home right now.

“Surely they won’t be home quite so early. I want to finish my drink.”

“The drinks are exactly why we have to clean up. You know I am not allowed to drink while I am babysitting their precious brats.”

“I don’t see why not. You can drink legally, so why do we have to sneak around while you are babysitting, honey?”

“Mom is scared we will somehow set the house on fire if we have alcohol and candles while we babysit.”

Laura Lee wanted a dog in the worst way. She was always begging her parents for one, and they always said no because she wasn’t old enough to take care of one yet. Laura Lee was heartbroken, but it didn’t stop her from asking for one every few months.

Her parents watched her with the farm animals, and one day they finally believed she was old enough to take care of a puppy. They tried to figure out how to surprise her.

They took her to school and went to the pet store. They picked out what they thought was the perfect puppy and all the necessary supplies. Just before she came home, they took all the cows out to graze in the pasture and put the puppy out to graze with them.

Then they brought home Laura Lee and told her to go gather the grazing cows and put them in the barn. After a little bit of complaint, she finally headed out to the field.

Suddenly, a squeal was heard above the mooing of the cows and the barking of a dog. Laura Lee had found her puppy. She grabbed the puppy and ran to her parents to tell them she had found it.

Next came a session of naming the puppy.  Laura vetoed many names before settling on Jazzy, short for Jasmine.
