Finally Friday!

My mother and I went to the Southern Women’s Show years ago and thought it was the greatest thing ever! We went the next year and were a little disappointed that it was not what the first one had been. I was just glad that yesterday was a work day and not one of my precious off days. The show is only in one room now… not nearly what it has been in the past. I bought a package of dip mix. That’s all – I tried not to act like all the old people who grab the free stuff at the fair but after waiting all day for Brenda to hurry up, Cindy and I went back through again… and again. You asked for any tips that I got… I have a recipe for some good cookies that even the boys can use…

Brickle Cookies
1 package butter-recipe cake mix
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1 package toffee bits
Combine the cake mix, egg, oil and toffee bits in a bowl and mix well. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 5 dozen.

In an update on last night’s football game, the scoreboard showed that Auburn came away with the highest score. That constitutes a win and I’ll take it – Mr. Tuberville, I love you but you do not now, nor have you ever, looked like a genius!

In honor of October, let’s play a game of Chain Reaction and the topic is

Halloween

The first word is pumpkin

Happy Friday to everyone!

Today In My World

Filed under: Uncategorized — by That Girl @ 11:14 am

The boss decided that after her birthday lunch today, we will go to Birmingham for the Southern Women’s Show. The President will be in Birmingham today, too and traffic is likely to be a nightmare but who am I to complain about taking the afternoon off?

We have to get back to town in time for the Auburn v. South Carolina game. I don’t like it when people judge a team by the coach. I can’t understand why people don’t like Auburn because of Tommy Tuberville. However, I do not like Steve Spurrier so I don’t like South Carolina! I hate that visor he wears… I just don’t like the person I think he is!

With that said, I’m a little worried that The Visor-ed One will be trickier than Coach Tuberville and that the Tigers won’t come out on top…

Still I say… War Eagle!

If Your Heart Isn’t In It

Filed under: Uncategorized — by That Girl @ 11:42 am

So… is it better to do something because it’s the right thing to do and it’s good for you or do you just cause more damage to everyone else by not having the right attitude?

My heart isn’t in Spin. I know I should do the exercise but there are other things to do and I talked through the entire class, disturbing other people because I didn’t want to be there.

I think next Wednesday, I’ll do another exercise – Donna can have a much better workout without me yapping the entire time.

More Than Skin Deep

I know that I probably acted a little boy crazy last week after watching Joey dance. I admitted that I thought his arms were more than a little attractive.

Tonight, he dressed in a way that I wouldn’t find attractive on anyone… except that he showed his exceptional pecs… and I found that attractive.

There are rules on Dancing With The Stars and Joey broke a rule… no lifts. You know how I feel about rules.

…and you KNOW how I feel about Joey – so he broke a stinkin’ rule! Rules are meant to be broken!

Watch this from last week! and this from week #1

Coming Soon

October 9 is the release date for blogger buddy Nancy’s book! The first review of the book makes it sound like a must have!

Nancy French (http://www.nancyfrench.com) has written a hilarious new book about a conservative Southern girl who marries a Harvard educated lawyer (my buddy David French) and moves to New York City. The laughs start there and continue as they relocate in Ithaca, New York and then in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is, without question, one of the funniest books I’ve read in years. Warning: It also contains some very astute observations about politics. Released in October, it could possibly gain popularity fast enough to be assigned to some sociology and feminist studies classes in the spring. Well, maybe not. ” – Mike S. Adams

Just What I Needed

Filed under: Uncategorized — by That Girl @ 11:47 am

Yesterday’s Sabbath was just what I needed! I fasted from TV. I didn’t even know what happened in the race! Last night, I turned on the TV to watch my movie but that was all. I read some, crocheted some, emailed a little, did a little laundry (not too much), and ate a little (too much).

It was difficult for me not to go outside, change out my closets, go to WalMart (ok – it wasn’t that difficult not to do that!) – I was a little restless but it was good for me not to go – go – go!

Today, I will begin moving into my new office. My job won’t change but my location will (away from the nemesis) and I’m hoping that I can manage a new attitude. Patrick talked about SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and I think that’s part of my trouble. I’m not looking forward to winter and shorter days.

I got up early this morning, eager to start this new week… I even rolled my hair!
