    Touche, touche

    Mood:      somewhere in the middle

And so, I gave life to this blog…

Lots of events going on right now in the States so where should I start? Summer has ended and now we welcome a whole strain of climatic changes with the weather. Hurricane Gustav hit New Orleans, Louisana last week and right here in Georgia we are anticipating Hurricane Hanna in the next couple of weeks. Continue to pray for those families whose houses have been damaged by the uncanny turn of events.

The presidential race is still on. Obama is still waging war against McCain, directing most of his energy towards the McCain camp’s energy policy. Another thing I have to comment about is the Republicans’ choice of VP Palin. McCain seriously does not have any brains at all. His plan of luring women voters is surely not going to work. What was he thinking? Choosing a women he had only met once?  Plus, more havoc over at Palin’s family side. Her 17 year old, unwed daughter is 5 months pregnant (talk about news). Also there have been two rumors buzzing across town; first is that Palin had an affair with her husband’s ex business partner and the next being Palin’s younger son, Trig.  Either way if both is true, there would be concerns pertaining to her ability to take on the VP job. The VP’s main job is to be in charge of foreign affairs and Palin certainly has no foreign policy experience (what can you expect from an Alaskan governor). Do check out Palin’s background… I find it simply humorous that her husband is a fisherman and a snowmobile champion.

Ok back to little baby Trig who has down syndrome. Is Trig Palin’s real son? or her grandson?? From what I heard and saw, Palin was with a flat belly 2 months preceding labour. Her daughter who was beside her looked more like the one who was pregnant. Also adding to my belief was that Bristol was absent from school 5 months before her mum was supposedly due for labor. Now so who’s pregnant?  From my stand point, McCain would have a better chance of claiming the White house if he had chose a more experienced, male politician (eg. Joe Lieberman, Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, etc.)

Just to add in to the fun

    母亲节快乐!

Mood:    Special day for mums.  Yo momma,  I you!

Haha. I was about to write in Chinese but decided not to. If I were to type in french then there’s also no point in reading this post right? (only my brother can understand French). Forget it … English is still the best form of communication with the world. At times I realize that words cannot fully express your heartfelt feelings and that’s why there are pictures. I just realized that Mother’s Day is celebrated on different days of the year depending on the country you are in. Thankfully Singapore celebrates it on the same day as does the U.S.  As always, I like to relate everything to the Classics and tell all of you that the reason we celebrate Mother’s Day is because the Greeks and Romans did as well (alright i’m not going to continue the long winded story).

Happy Mother’s Day to all mums out there!

Fw: How China is preparing for the Beijing Olympics

Mood:     Some things just won’t turn out right. What would you do??

The Classical city of Greece (and not to forget Rome!) would be really disappointed if this really happens in Beijing (look at the pictures below).  This post is just for laughs…  I have not been to China even though i’m Chinese -.- so i’m not sure as to whether such mistakes are true. One thing i’m certain about is that Chinese cannot be simply translated to English and still hold the same meaning. Embracing other languages is good… but making mistakes (on a national level and especially for the Olympics is NOT)! But still, everyone is not perfect and let’s not be so critical 🙂

Now the pictures! (from Uncle Francis)

      who would??

let’s all stage our own fall!

    cant have fun?? wow.

     Horny!

    Lord of the Rings???

The person who traslated this must have been really proud for translating something that long.

This does not look like a toy at all!

I’ll be too afraid to even visit -.-

Other funny ‘mistakes’ can be found at the engrish.com web page.

    Needs vs. Wants

Mood:     Be an angel today 🙂

I need more hours in a day. I need more time alone. I need to be wiser. I need to be successful. I need to be more caring. I need to be more aware. I need to feel for the people around me.  I need to be a better sister/daughter/friend/student. I need to humble myself. I need to relax. I need to learn more about humility. I need to stress less. I need a little balance. I need to read more. I need to be more efficient. I need to eat better/right. I need to study harder. I need to speak my mind. I need to breathe. I need to sacrifice myself. I need to be redundant. I need to be an amazing person. I need to get a job.  I need to do what I love. I need to know what I love. I need to learn to love. I need to help those around me/my community. I need to try my best. I need to save money. I need to integrate. I need to spread myself out. I need to push myself. I need to realize my full potential. I need to go to college. I need to stop being indecisive. I need to stand up for myself. I need to be creative. I need to think. I need to stop. I need to live until I’m at most 80. I need to travel. I need to open my Asian eyes. I need to make a difference. I need to get through. I need to stop suppressing my anger. I need to distance myself. I need to concentrate on what is important. I need LASIK surgery. I need to catch up with friends. I need more energy. I need a life. I need a good, great, fantastic, life. I need to be more independent and less dependent. I need to realize I am mediocre. I need to be good at something, anything. I need to make it through high school. I need to be more patient. I need to build confidence. I need to be more discreet. I need a lot of things… All that from a year ago and only one word’s been changed. So very, very disappointing. I need to learn to just shut up.
    I
Do you have more wants than needs?? I just finished watching Oprah’s Big Give or better known as THE BIG GIVE on abc channel and I cant say I have not been affected (in a good way). Why so (you may ask)? I mean who would be out there giving away money… i’m talking in thousands. It all seems as if cash just dropped from the sky and into the various recipient’s hands. Well Oprah’s Big Give focuses on 10 contestants as they travel across the country with a large sum of money (really), to try and help people in unique ways, and participate in a series of challenges in order to become America’s greatest unknown philanthropist (hah easier said than done).

In each episode, contestants travel to a different U.S. city and are given some money and an assignment. Sometimes the contestants are paired or grouped, and sometimes they may act as individuals. In some cities, contestants are assigned to help a particular individual or organization, while in others they are simply told to find people in need. The contestants then have the opportunity to raise additional money in order to reach their goals. At the end of each episode, the panel of judges selects one person to go home. At the end of the season, the last person standing would receive $1 million (but they wont know about it).

I won’t spoil the show for those who have not watched it yet but half way through one of the episodes I was thinking of the things I could do and would do in the near future just to make a difference in people’s life. It was hard for me to contain myself and I really wanted to be part of the giving process. There are many needs out there… many children without homes, many people in poverty, etc. (do I have to go on) and i’m back here using a computer, i’m provided with at least 3 or more meals a day, have a roof over my head, and most importantly have a wonderful family (even though my siblings and I are not always on good terms, I still want to thank the Lord for them). That includes you, Josiah!

The Original “Big Give” happened more than 2000 years ago when God sent His only Son to pay for mankind’s sin. God did indeed set the bar high! God so loved the world that he gave…  Jesus practiced the “Big Give” principle while he walked this earth. He gave sight to the blind man, he gave deliverance to the possessed man, a second chance to the woman almost stoned to death. He even gave life to a dead man!

One of the main focus of Oprah’s show is for the contestants to impact others out there so that they would step up and give. Its kinda like a chain reaction… you bless someone and that person does another good deed for someone else. Enough said, I questioned my own faith today and repositioned myself for the future. From this day forward I hope that whatever I do would be purposeful and I do hope my life would be a blessing to those around me. Have a great day everyone and remember to make your life count!

PS. Still don’t get the message (cause i’m bad at summarizing my thoughts) then view the show on the web. I’ve provided a link on my blog roll on the right hand side of this blog.

    Halloween’07

Ever had a sugar crash?? The one you get from eating too much candy. Yeah that was pretty much it. I was basically eating candy in the middle of the night while studying for my math test…  For a moment I was really glad. I have not eaten Kit-Kat, Sneakers, M&Ms, and other ❤ for a long long time. Just snuggling them down my throat was so satisfying yet there’s the guilt behind it. My family has never got into the practice of Halloween just because of the origins of it. As usual I was at home studying and answering the door bell for candy. The kids from my neighborhood were all dressed up in cute outfits but I was too busy giving out candies to take photos of them. Hallowed be thy name! Hallelujah!

Christian Halloween – The Pros and Cons?
Halloween has manipulated and “tricked” by the secular pagan world and much of what happens on Halloween is far from spiritual. In fact, some of the Halloween traditions have pagan origins.

The Bible doesn’t speak directly about Halloween, but some biblical principles apply. One things is clear — all pagan practices are to be avoided. Witchcraft, occult practices, sorcery, etc. are strictly forbidding in the Bible (Exodus 22:18; Acts 8:9-24; Acts 16, 19). It is obvious that a small child dressing up as a princess or a cowboy isn’t involving themselves with witchcraft, so what is a biblical stance on Halloween?

If you decide Halloween is something just for the fun of collecting candies, then make sure that you are kept far away from the evil aspects of Halloween. When believers participate in anything (even Halloween), their attitudes, dress, and behavior should glorify Christ (Philippians 1:27)

    Here’s some pictures:

    Sorting out the Candies (Good/Bad)

    The bad ones 😦

    Can’t decide??

    The supposedly good ones?

    Ewww… is that tootsie rolls!

So that was all the candy that was on the breakfast table. My brother weighed all of it (the good ones and the bad as well) and it came out to be around 4 pounds! Good luck with tooth decays :p

Once again i’m reminded of the landofmilknhuney

    Numbers 14:8-9

“If the Lord is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us.Only do not rebel against the Lord. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afaid of them.

“IF GOD IS FOR US, WHO CAN BE AGAINST US?

    ~Romans 8:31
