I received these cards from @penguinrandomhouse and their @zeitgeistpublishing partner. There are 52 cards, which can be used a number of ways—that’s up to what suits you best.
I chose to pick a card a week and started in December. I’ve really been enjoying trying to work on the card I randomly pull each week. Each card offers intentional reflections, questions, and tips to help you along. The introductory cards offer ideas for self-love rituals, and using both of these, I can, sometimes with great success, sometimes not because some weeks are more difficult than others, work on my love of self and the betterment of myself. I imagine that these cards can be worked on over and over again as life is a continual journey.
Just one example: The card, which affirms—I speak kindly to myself—says: “Many people believe that being tough on themselves is the only way to achieve success. They fear they will become complacent without this constant self-criticism. Research shows that this approach leads to short-term success, whereas positive self-talk supports a lifetime of growth. Think of a negative phrase you tend to tell yourself (I am really bad about calling myself an idiot, for example). Now choose a more positive, supportive phrase to say instead (I tell myself that “I lost focus” or “you need to stay focused” now. Being a bit ADHD, my mind tends to jump around, and once distracted, it’s easy to forget what I was doing or make mistakes.). What kind of ritual might help remind you to use this new, uplifting message?
I honestly did not choose a ritual for that particular card as it was easier for me to remind myself whenever I found myself calling myself an idiot. A week of that helped a lot as I continue to remind myself that it’s about focus not intelligence.
Anyway, if you’re looking to work on loving yourself more fully, these cards are definitely worth investing in.
