      Trooth Be Told

The real. The raw. The reckoning.

Haitian & Italian fashion designer Stella Jean has always designed at the intersection of heritage and history. For her, fashion is memory, lineage, and the refusal to forget.
When she created the uniforms for Haiti’s 2026 Winter Olympic team, she did what she has always done, she centered culture. Inspired by a painting from Haitian artist Edouard Duval-Carrié, the designs carried Haiti’s red and blue forward, honoring the spirit of a people who fought for their own freedom.
Toussaint Louverture, the revolutionary who helped secure Haiti’s independence, was meant to stand in that story.
And yet, even now, history can make institutions uneasy.
Resilience, however, is not new to Haiti. It is stitched into its flag. It is carried in its women. It lives in every generation that refuses to be erased.
As we closed Black History Month and have stepped into Women’s History Month, we remember that Black history and women’s history are not separate chapters. They are braided together in resistance, creativity, and endurance.

In a world where freedoms are tested, freedom of press, freedom of art, freedom of expression, freedom to belong, the act of creating honestly becomes its own declaration.
Stella Jean’s work is intentional. It insists on memory and beauty without apology.
And now, the skirt — as it was meant to be — carries Toussaint Louverture forward.

To every woman who has been told to soften her story.
To every person who has been told to separate culture from visibility.
To every artist who has been asked to dilute their voice.
Keep creating!

Support the work that carries history forward.
Support the women who refuse erasure.
Support the artists who choose memory over silence.

We thank Stella Jean for reminding us that fashion can hold history — and that resilience endures.

Reverend Jesse Jackson did not enter history quietly. He was shaped by it — and in turn, helped shape it.

As a young man born in Greenville, South Carolina on October 8, 1941, Jesse Louis Jackson came of age in a segregated America. He knew what it meant to sit at the back of the bus. He understood the quiet humiliations of “separate but equal.” He witnessed doors closed not because of merit, but because of skin. Discrimination was part of daily life.

When the Civil Rights Movement called, he answered. He stood alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., organizing, marching, negotiating, and helping carry forward a movement that demanded dignity be made real. He believed faith required action and that justice required presence.

From the streets of Chicago to the global stage, he registered millions of voters, advocated for workers and the poor, pressed corporations to open opportunity, and insisted democracy must expand to include those long excluded. He founded Operation PUSH and the Rainbow Coalition, calling a divided nation toward solidarity across race, class, and creed — steadfast in his belief that America’s promise is realized only when its people rise together.

In his two historic presidential campaigns, he expanded imagination. He made visible what many had never seen reflected in power, reminding generations that the highest offices in the land were not forbidden ground.

Leadership came with scrutiny. Progress demanded resilience. Still, he remained resolute in his belief that justice is not self-executing. It must be pursued, protected, and practiced.

For more than sixty years, he refused to stand still.

After a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy, Reverend Jesse Jackson was called home today, February 17, 2026.

His life was marked by discipline, faith, moral courage, and a relentless belief in human dignity. We inherit the ground he broke — and the work still unfinished.

Our deepest condolences to the Jackson family and to all whose lives were shaped by his conviction and courage.

May he rest in power & eternal peace 🖤🕊️✊🏾 #troora #trooramagazine #revjessejackson #rainbowcoalition
