Santosha
Hi there
Happy Sunday. I went for a Japanese meal with my good friend Carron the other evening. She talked about βSantoshaβ. A Sanskrit term, meaning βcomplete contentmentβ, βsatisfactionβ. βacceptanceβ.
Carron does yoga, and in Yoga philosophy, it represents an internal state of peace that is independent of external circumstances or material possessions. I guess itβs what Iβve always referred to as βan inside jobβ.
Apparently, when we speak of acceptance in connection with Santosha, we donβt mean settling for less, or giving up. Not at all! It is more about accepting the current situation, whilst still striving for growth.
I like that. With all the chaos and turmoil currently in the world, it would be too easy to throw our hands up in the air and surrender. βThereβs nothing we can doβ, we say. βItβs far too big for usβ.
Well, hereβs the news: it is what it is. And whilst we may not be able to help everyone, we can certainly help someone.
So how about we learn to let go of the need for things to be different than they are in this moment. Letβs cultivate some gratitude, and shift our focus from what is lacking to what is actually present.
I know, I know. Thatβs easy to say, not so easy to do. But if I am going to do something, take action, isnβt it better coming from a calm, measured state, and not a desperate place?
Santosha. Yesterday, I experienced Santosha beautifully. We did the LIVE online Paper Collage Workshop, for the Glastonbury Tor. Jazz and I worked together, and Sue joined in downstairs, in her office. During the course of the day, working quietly and patiently on the artwork, together with a large group of friends online, we slowly and systematically worked through the collage process I have come up with, until we arrived at its conclusion: superb pieces of artwork. But even more importantly, total joy and a sense of accomplishment, teamwork and love.
We all left the building laughing, hugging and beaming with happiness. It was pure Santosha.

Makes me want to take up Yoga actually. See life in through a different lens../

If you missed the Online course, the whole day was recorded. You can always subscribe, we will send you the pack, and you can do it. Who knows. Maybe youβll gain a little Santosha too. CLICK HERE to find.
If you were one of the participants yesterday, tell us YOUR experience please. I can only speak for myself, and I was the bus driver of course, but I came away from the workshop feeling a deep sense of joy and gratitude. And those days are rare just now.
Love and Clarity,

I was content and peaceful just watching, I dropped in and out and it was good to watch and listen then we had unexpected visitors! Iβve still got the viaduct to do but might do Glastonbury first and keep viaduct to do with Emily in half term, if I get the fiddly bit done I reckon sheβll enjoy putting the jigsaw together ! mind you I might not feel Santosha after! I love seeing the pink version they look like sunsets so will probably do it twice in both colour ways. Iβm going to put mine up in our new summerhouse. Thanks for the company. X
I prepared in advance. Got off to bed early and awoke with excitement and a bit of anxiety. However, that soon disappeared and I thoroughly enjoyed my day. I’m very interested in the history of the site. Curiosity etc.
Thank you Barbara and Jazz, Sue too. Blooming great day with my friends π
Hi Lillian, I may have some reading material about the “Isle of Avalon” or Glastonbury, you would be interested in. I’ll have to find a way of getting it to you. π
It was a fabulous day yesterday.
I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day working alongside you and Jazz, and I was thrilled to complete two versions of The Tor.
Then today I was inspired to prepare the pieces for the alternative colour way you generously sent us.
It has been a wonderfully creative weekend.
Many thanks. Xxx
What beautiful artwork!
Glad you all had a great day xxx
Glad you all had a great day.The photos popping up on Facebook all look fantastic. β€
The results posted on Facebook so far look really good & everyone seems to have enjoyed the day & the process. I did think of you all crafting away as I was building kitchen wall cupboards with my daughter whilst the men got the base units in & level. There was a big shout of ”YES” when everything fitted together, a bit like when all the collage pieces go together to make the picture with no gaps ππ
I am working on being straight by Easter ( hoping it may be earlier) with all my craft stash unpacked so I can get back to doing what I enjoy most – crafting & using all the new products that are just waiting to be played with.
See you in the SHAC tomorrow – I am having a few hours off from painting !!
Barb, Saturday’s Workshop was amazing! Having you and Jazz together really works, bringing the Process to life and making it accessible. I am one of the Watchers and Learners before putting the Process into action, so I look forward to creating my version of Glastonbury Tor – especially as the site means a lot to me. π
Hi Barb, it sounds like everyone had a brilliant day with the workshop. The Facebook photos and these are fab. I think I need a bit of Santosha in my world right now, especially with work. Take care all. Bx
It was a lovely day! I now have a lovely piece of artwork on my wall, had a great sense of achievement and Pete had some peace and quiet whilst I was busy!
Well worth doing. If you’ve never done one of these online workshops, you really need to go for it!
A big thank you to you & Jazz for the wonderful opportunity to enjoy a fantastic workshop on Saturday.
To watch & join in the process was definitely a restful experience that I really enjoyed & appreciate all the hard work that goes into setting up the workshop.
Many thanks
It was a great workshop – so satisfying to reinforce the previous skills we’d learned in the earlier versions and then step it up another level. Only problem was that my Pritt glue stick ran out just before the end – and I discovered I didn’t have a spare one! Managed to get some new ones today, so will finish it off tomorrow. It is what it is!
Sounds like you all had a lovely time. I enjoyed both shows yesterday and look forward to seeing you on Hobbymaker soon. Thanks again. Take care.
Sorry I meant Mondays shows which I watched yesterday. Too much going on !!
It was my first workshop with Barbara and Jazz , my previous ones were groovi workshops all of which I have enjoyed . I decided to take another bus route this time . And it goes without saying I had a fabulous time .i enjoyed the day from start to end . I feel so proud of my achievement and it hangs proudly in my dining room .
I have showed it off to all of my family and friends and they all say how clever I am . Well I take no credit in that , itβs down to finding and following you amazing , creative and talented people .I slept soundly that night and felt totally chilled . So thank you Barbara and team .xx
