Not often you get featured in the Boston Globe Media! CREW Carbon was highlighted last week for our dual-solution approach: improving the efficiency of wastewater treatment while removing CO2. By integrating alkalinity-based carbon removal into existing wastewater infrastructure, we can deploy quickly in already built, already permitted systems while optimizing water quality conditions that allows utilities to treat wastewater more efficiently and at lower cost. Utilities we’ve worked with have lowered their conventional chemical usage, reduced the amount of pollutants leaving their facilities, and had an easier time separating solids from the clean water they return to the environment. Because this work happens inside closed, engineered systems, it enables measurable CO2 removal, unambiguous tracking of where that carbon is stored, and real savings for utilities and ratepayers--getting more out of legacy infrastructure that is critical to protecting both human and environmental health.
