  • We are looking forward to having Billi at our AGM this Friday to remind our community how special they are!

I am looking forward to a rewarding and busy week on the road next week! 🚗 ✈️ First up, I hit the stage with two fabulous women (Cherilyn Jolly-Nagel & her daughter Claire) on Wednesday, March 18th, for "Rooted & Rising: Stories of Women in Agriculture" as an International Year of the Woman Farmer 2026 Spotlight at Canada's Farm Show Regina, SK. I'll be discussing the amazing women I've had the privilege of interviewing over my career. Fun fact: Cherilyn was in my 2nd book, "Farmwives 2: An Inspiring Look at the New Canadian Farmwives", and her daughter Claire was in my 4th book, "Farm Kids: Stories from Our Lives." Next up, on Friday, March 20th, I have the honour of providing the keynote at the Farming Forward - WCFA AGM, where we get to talk all about Community, Appreciation & Connection. Grateful for these opportunities to remind our communities how special they are! 🫶🌾🍁 Cherilyn Jolly-Nagel Farming Forward - Staff

  • *New Blog Article!* Last week, we joined High Country Shepherding near Edson to learn how sheep, dogs, and solar-powered camp life are helping reforested cutblocks thrive. From bear encounters to blooming fireweed, this is land stewardship in action—hoof-powered, low-impact, and deeply connected to the forest. 📖 Read more: https://lnkd.in/guChrhQK 🐑 @high.country.shepherding

  • This week, we visited Hermitage Park in Edmonton to learn about thistle rust fungus, a natural fungus that targets invasive Canada thistle without harming other plants. Our goal? To collect rust samples, make an inoculant, and help local producers control problem thistle patches in a more natural way. We’ll be sharing more soon on how you can find and harvest your own rust fungus to help us make an inoculant. 👉 Want to stay updated on projects like this? • 🍁 Happy Canada Day from the Fields of West-Central Alberta! 🍁 As we celebrate Canada Day, we’re reflecting on what it means to be rooted here. Canada is built on landscapes and livelihoods shaped by the land, by those who farm it, steward it, and feed communities from coast to coast. From cover crops to cattle, we see that resilience and innovation are alive and well right here in our fields. This Canada Day, we’re proud to support the farmers, ranchers, and landowners who keep our region thriving, and who care deeply for the land that sustains us all. 🌾 Here’s to growing forward, together. ❤️🤍 #FarmingForward #CanadaDay #FromThePrairies #SupportLocalAg #RuralRoots
