🎥 A Chemical Perspective on the Climate Crisis As part of the YouTube lecture series Voices for Climate, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Seiffert and Prof. Dr. Ulrich S. Schubert delivered a live lecture addressing the climate crisis on 19 January 2026. Starting from a chemical perspective, the talk explores the transformation towards climate neutrality across multiple dimensions — technical, economic, political, societal, and individual. In addition to scientific aspects, the speakers reflect on personal transformations and their relevance in the broader context of the climate crisis. During his lecture, Prof. Dr. Ulrich S. Schubert also referred to the role of HIPOLE Jena in the context of climate change and the transition towards climate neutrality. Voices for Climate is an interdisciplinary YouTube lecture series dedicated to the climate crisis, fostering dialogue between science and society. The livestream was broadcast on the YouTube channel of OKTV Mainz. The recording of the lecture is available online and can be accessed here: https://lnkd.in/dDPBnMXw

👏 😊 Stefanie Arnold, Simon Binder, Giulia D'Agostino, Fabian Eichberger, Markus Eyting, Rodrigo Cadore, Dr. Carsten Geiß, Dr. Jan David Hendricks, Marie-T. 🎉 Our Colloidal Chemistry Group from HZB travelled to the science city of Jena for the Institute of Technical Chemistry and Environmental Chemistry (ITUC) seminar at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (FSU Jena) for an impactful start for the year 2026. The session was led by our group and Prof. Dr. Yan Lu - Professor from ITUC, FSU Jena delivered a powerful presentation of our research goals, strategies and our 2025 research milestones. It was a meaningful moment to officially introduce the new talents who joined our family last year and to share our best wishes with the colleagues who have moved on to their next professional chapters. The seminar featured high-level technical insights into the future of sustainable materials: 📌 Dr. Jin Yang presented the latest research outcomes on Covalent Organic Frameworks (COFs), focusing on their structural versatility and application potential. 📌 Dr. Yan Guo took a deep dive into Self-healing Lithium Battery Systems, showcasing our progress in creating more resilient and long-lasting energy storage solutions. Visits like these remind us of the strength of our research community at FSU Jena. We are heading into 2026 with a clear roadmap and a shared commitment to excellence in Colloidal Chemistry and Electrochemical Energy Storage. #FSUJena #ITUC #ColloidalChemistry #MaterialsScience #Sustainability #Innovation #Jena

The second progress meeting of the DFG Research Group 5499 – ForMOST took place in Jena, hosted by HIPOLE Jena and the group of Prof. Dr. D. Mollenhauer🔬 On December 2–3, researchers from Gießen, Tübingen, Frankfurt, Erlangen, Jena, and Barcelona met to present recent results and discuss ongoing work across synthesis, characterization and catalysis, computational modelling, and device development for MOST systems. The meeting included talks, discussions, a lab tour, and a joint dinner. From the HIPOLE side, Dr. Aleksandr Zaichenko delivered an inspiring talk on “Computational modelling of catalytic processes of BND-BNB based MOST systems.” What makes this work particularly promising is the strong potential of MOST technologies for real-world applications. Their ability to store and release energy efficiently could play a key role in advancing next-generation energy-storage solutions, paving the way for innovative and sustainable technologies of the future.🌱 Thank you to all participants for an inspiring and productive meeting! 🙌
