We were proud to participate in the 106th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society (AMS), where the JANUS team shared new insights on coastal flooding along the Southeast United States. With support from NSF NCAR - The National Center for Atmospheric Research and the NOAA Climate Program Office, JANUS oceanographers have been studying how wind-driven events influence coastal sea levels and how effectively ocean models capture these dynamics. At AMS, Chris Little presented new analyses that are helping advance prediction of flooding and erosion in this increasingly vulnerable region, with increasingly critical implications for infrastructure, including coastal defense and energy systems. Meet Cheryl Barker, Proposal Manager at JANUS for the past three years! Cheryl leads, organizes, and produces proposals across all business units—handling RFPs, RFIs, and full solicitation packages with calm, steady expertise. She’s also the teammate who always steps in to help wherever needed, embodying the true JANUS spirit. As Michelle Ayers shares, “Cheryl is a steadfast and exceptionally reliable proposal manager who stays unruffled by tight deadlines or shifting requirements. Her professionalism and willingness to lean in wherever needed make her an invaluable asset.” Working remotely from Greenville, South Carolina, Cheryl loves JANUS’ small company feel where people are connected, and every contribution matters. Her favorite quote? “Just keep swimming.” And she truly lives it. Outside of work, Cheryl enjoys family time and her two corgis, her pride and joy.
