Senior Information Technology Security Analyst

A rapidly growing mid-sized financial institution is expanding its technology leadership team and strengthening its cybersecurity posture. This is a key role for an experienced security engineer who wants to design, enhance, and mature a modern security program in a stable, well-funded environment that takes security seriously.

Location: Poughkeepsie, NY

Compensation: $135,000 – $165,000 +Bonus

The Senior IT Security Engineer will lead the engineering, implementation, and continuous improvement of security tools, controls, and processes across the enterprise. This is a highly visible technical role with broad ownership: vulnerability remediation, incident response, security architecture, hardening activities, audit and pen test support, and the ongoing maturity of the organization’s cybersecurity standards.

You will partner closely with Infrastructure, DevOps, Risk, and external security partners to ensure the environment is protected, compliant, and prepared for evolving threats.

You’ll design and maintain the technical foundations that safeguard the organization’s networks, data, and cloud environments. The role involves strategic planning, hands-on engineering, and cross-functional collaboration.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing security architectures including firewalls, encryption standards, access controls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems
• Ensuring all cybersecurity tools are available, operational, and properly updated
• Leading remediation of vulnerabilities, security incidents, and hardening requirements
• Creating or enhancing security policies, procedures, and standards aligned with NIST/CIS
• Guiding internal and external audit efforts and participating in penetration testing activities
• Working across IT and business teams to drive consistent security practices and risk reduction
• Providing architectural guidance and proactive threat analysis to prevent issues before they occur
• Performing additional security-related projects and strategic initiatives as the program evolves

Requirements include:

• 10+ years of IT cybersecurity experience
• 8+ years as a dedicated cybersecurity engineer
• Financial services background (banking, credit union, fintech, annuities, etc.)
• Strong familiarity with NIST or CIS frameworks
• Associate’s Degree in Cybersecurity required; Bachelor’s preferred
• CISSP, SSCP, Security+ or similar certifications strongly preferred
• Experience designing security architecture, strengthening network defenses, and responding to incidents
• Ability to evaluate threats, prioritize remediation, and recommend scalable, cost-effective solutions
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
