Hip mobility is influenced by A LOT of things! Strength and flexibility are just two of many factors at play. One of the biggest things people miss is joint structure. Hip impingement (FAI) can be triggered by aggravated hip morphologies. ⁣

Some hips simply don’t have the bony structure to allow for certain positions. But building tolerance and strength in the range they DO have available can help with most things. ⁣

If you’re trying to fill out your hip dips, it’s all about training smarter, not just harder. This move forces your glutes to engage instead of letting your thighs take over. Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, hinge at your hips, and lower down while holding onto a chair for balance. Extend your leg back, rotate your pelvis, and focus on lifting with control. Are you training your adductors (groin muscles)?

Well, you may be leaving a lot of knee stability and hip internal rotation gains on the table.

-

A lot of people train the crap out of their hip abductors (outer hip muscles) with things like clam shells, monster walks, hip thrusters with a hip circle on, etc…

-

But they don’t show the same love to the adductors and that can potentially be a mistake.

These muscles oppose those outer hip muscles and they can be weak in a lot of people (especially if you overtrain the abductors).
