A cookie recipe given to me by my husbands Polish grandma (busia) that I have to double because they fly off the plate - one recipe for them and one for me! My favorite Solo filling is Apricot, but any are wonderful.The pronounciation is Kolatchkie, but Ive never seen it spelled any other way than Kolacky! (Dough can be refrigerated and cookies frozen after making.)
These are the pastries that are made by the hundreds for the annual Tabor Czech Days in Tabor, SD every year. Everyone has their own "family" recipe, but this is the standard recipe that most of the ladies use. I learned to make these when I was small from my Czech grandmother. This recipe will make about 8 dozen kolache and they freeze well.
