No film feels more ready for autumn than Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Turning leaves and characters that leave, take each other to school, fall back, and fall in love are what it brings (or bRings).

Strongly checkommended.

Around the 2nd week of August, the Santa Clara County Library District published the booklet “In Celebration…Eclipse Poems & Stories”.

Highlighting the August 21st 2017 eclipse, this booklet features works by 13 writers (including me and 4 other members of the Peaceful Poets group that I moderate and proofread for) from the Santa Clara County. This compilation has got my … Continue reading

Hype over a film could be a form of hypnosis. After watching “Get Out”, this is something i noticed

(especially since this movie is relevant and focused (from its beginning to how it closes)).

In Maximum Rocknroll #394, my zine When Deadlines Become Zombies #10 gets reviewed

by Jeff Mason. I think this review’s inclusion of the words “shit” and “revenge” make the review more noteworthy, especially since this is the first time that I have ever noticed both of those words in a review.

In Sequential Tart’s 8/17/15 issue, my zine When Deadlines Become Zombies #10 is reviewed by Patti Martinson,

and the review, the results, and the grade make me grateful. I was even double-checking and then triple-checking the grade in order to make sure that it really is the grade that my zine got and not just the issue … Continue reading

There would be no Mad Max: Fury Road without Ma Ma;

this movie drives sharper than piranha… The Ma Ma in the title is a clue about the film’s story, hints at feminists’ response to a male authority. For those who have not watched this Charlize Theron-starring episode, check out Mad … Continue reading

Mad Max: Fury Road makes the most of its being released between Mother’s Day and Memorial Day; it combines elements from both times in May…

Many of its non-titled subjects, actions, and intangibles begin with m; its mnemonic momentum makes me think about it and them again… Many mothers, mechanics, machines, mirage, mobile, motors, motorcycles, moving, motion, movement, miles, ,mountain, melee, meeting, married, multiple, mates, … Continue reading

Heather Wreckage’s Dreams of Donuts #13 uplifts with many a picture

(one panel’s got an upside-down-face stick figure and a one-eyed-face stick figure!); issue 13 relates to the underdogs and those feeling insecure… If boredom is a virus, then DOD #13 is a cure. Issue 13’s highlights: long rides and drunk … Continue reading
