Zhu-Zhu Pets - Review

A year ago I was a crazy woman trying to find the year's hottest toy for my daughters.   I didn't pay attention to the "Mommy we want Zhu-Zhu Pets" until it was seriously too late.
Now a year later and Zhu-Zhu Pets are still on the top of many kids Christmas lists.  To make things even better, Zhu-Zhu Pets are not so hard to find anymore, and they have come out with a lot more accessories as well as many new Zhu-Zhu Pets.

We had the opportunity to test out some new accessories for the Zhu-Zhu's as well as the new Rock star Zhu-Zhu pets.

My kids still like the Zhu-Zhu pets so they were excited to be able to try out the new ones, and I was excited that I wouldn't have to be fighting through crowds looking for them this year.

Honestly, I don't care for the new Rock star Pets, I don't think they are as cute as the original ones, but the kids all enjoyed them.
With lots of fun accessories the kids had a blast dressing their "pets" up and doing their hair.

I definitely think if your child is a big Zhu-Zhu fan, you can't go wrong, and since they are easy to find this year they would make a great Christmas gift.

Zhu-Zhu pets and accessories can be found at Walmart and Target, and I have seen them for as low as $6.99.

***Disclaimer*** I was not paid for this review, we were sent a free product to review.  Thank you to Amy at BSMmedia for sending the Zhu-Zhu pets and accessories for review.

I was sent a few of the Clipettes to try, and they work amazingly well on my daughters fine hair.  She is in the middle of growing out a "bad" hair cut and these little Clipettes keep the bangs out of her eyes.  Plus they are super cute and with such good prices you can get several different bows.  I highly recommend Clipettes from No Slippy Hair Clippy.

Mabels Labels - Review

I recently had the chance to try out Mabel's Labels, thanks to a gift certificate I received in a big gift box.  I have seen Mabel's Labels every where and I couldn't wait to try them out first hand.
I had the opportunity to try the new Label Out Loud Sticky Labels.  I received a pack of 45 labels with my youngest daughters name on them with a super cute cupcake design.
With 26 design choices I had a tough time deciding, they are all super cute.  I love the new bright colors and am very happy with my Mabel's Labels.
As with all the Mabel's Labels the features are fantastic:

■Dishwasher safe

■Microwave safe

■UV resistant

■Peel and stick

The customer service is also fantastic.  My first order was lost in the mail, and the representative was very quick in shipping me out another set of labels.
I really do love the labels and would be happy to recommend them to every one.  There are tons of different labels and designs to choose from and with school starting they are a must have!

Outlast Hand Sanitizer - Review

Germs are everywhere and as a mom of four kids I want to keep as many germs away from my kids as I can.
One great new product that I recently tried was Outlast Hand Sanitizer.  Using Outlast Hand Sanitizer is a handy way to keep the kids germ free when on the go, and best of all it lasts for up to 6 hours!
The benefits of using Outlast Hand Sanitizer:

  • While some germs can live on surfaces for more than 2 hours, most alcohol-based hand sanitizers only work for 2 minutes.
  • The neat thing about OutLastTM Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer is that it works for up to 6 hours.  Leading hand sanitizers only last two minutes.
  • OutLastTM Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer is alcohol-based, so it kills 99.99% of germs instantly.
  • OutLastTM Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer has a patented formula developed by researchers at Columbia University Medical School.
  • Surgeons and other health care professionals have used the OutLastTM Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer formula in hospitals for years.
  • You might think that a hand sanitizer used in hospitals may be rough on your kids’ hands, but OutLastTM Long-Lasting Hand Sanitizer has moisturizers and leaves hands feeling silky and not sticky.
  • Other hand sanitizers may end up costing more in the long run because they only last 2 minutes.
  • Health care specialists agree that hand washing is the single most effective way to prevent the transmission of disease.  When soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

I really liked the fact that it lasts for 6 hours and it wasn't sticky feeling at all.  You can purchase Outlast Hand Sanitizer online at  www.outlastgerms.com and by telephone at 1-800-716-2420.

I was also sent a Clipa.   Have you ever seen a Clipa?  A Clipa is an instant handbag hanger.  A Clipa is a convenient way to hold your purse when you are out and about.  Simple put the ring through your purse handle and place it on a surface- just like that your purse is off the ground!  I love it!  I recently took the kids to see a movie, and used my Clipa to keep my purse off the floor and in view.  They are great for restaurants too!  You can purchase a Clipa here for 19.99.

The Clipa can be used for:
  • Handbags
  • Backpacks
  • Cases
  • Purses
  • Totes
  • Book bags
  • Diaper bags
  • Umbrellas
  • and more

Use it on:

  • Tabletops
  • Chairs (arms and backs)
  • Counters
  • Stall walls
  • Rails
  • Sinks

***Disclosure*** I was not paid for this post.  I was sent the Outlast Hand Sanitizer and the Clipa free of charge for review purposes.  Thank you to the PR Company for sending the review products.

KidKraft Sling Bookshelf from CSN- Review

I had the opportunity to review another great product from  CSN stores.  My limit was $40 and I spent hours looking for something to choose.  Not because I couldn't find anything, but because there are 200 stores to choose from and it can take awhile to shop!

I finally decided on the Sling Bookshelf made by KidKraft.  We need storage desperately as it is hard to live with 6 people in an apartment.  The Sling Bookshelf is made from soft canvas shelves that keep books from being damaged and it holds alot of books in almost any size.  It is the perfect size for little ones and easy for them to use and find just the right book.  I picked the pastel colored bookshelf so it can be used in my youngest daughter's room if and when we move, right now she shares with her brother, but they are both using the bookshelf and it is super cute.

The Assembly:
It came in just 4 pieces and I thought "Wow this will be simple!"  An hour later, not so simple- maybe it was just me, but it was a pain to assemble.  Have you ever tried to twist a screw in a round dowel?  It takes a very strong hand to keep it from spinning- so two people would have been better, but I didn't want to wait for my hubby.  Plus I hate using that little "tool" they give you, but that's just me.  We had a few minor issues, the material was ripped in the seam and one of the screws was missing.  Thankfully customer service was quick and they are shipping me the replacement parts.  We can still use the shelf, and I will reassemble it when I get all the parts.
With all that said I really do love the sling bookshelf and think it's a great item for every child's room.  It's super cute and my kids love having a place to store there books.

***Disclaimer*** I was not paid for this review.  I was sent a free product from CSN stores for review purposes.  All statements made are my own and your opinion may differ. Thank you to CSN for the review product.

Growing Tree Toys- Friends 4 Ever Bracelet Kit- Review

When it comes to children's educational toys Growing Tree Toys is the place to shop!
Growing Tree Toys is a family-owned retail institution in State College, PA!  For over 30 years, our brick and mortar store has been changing the way children play by providing them with the highest quality toys available. After 25 years of selling toys to only our local customers, we “opened” GrowingTreeToys.com in late 2003.
Growing Tree Toys has a huge selection of toys for both boys and girls.  The website is easy to use as they narrow their selection of toys by age group and brand of toy.  If you are looking for a fun and creative gift, you will find it at Growing Tree Toys.
I was sent the Friends 4 Ever Bracelet Kit by Alex toys.  I remember making Friendship bracelets when I was a kid, and I couldn't wait for my daughters to try this kit.  This is nothing like the ones I used to make in the 80's.  Wow, have they come along way!  The Friends 4 Ever Bracelet Kit includes 4 color-coded foam looms, which allow kids to make 2 distinct bracelet styles in 8 funky patterns; 22 colors of floss; funky beads for adding special accents; and a beading needle, making it easy for kids to create unique friendship bracelets.

Everything came in it's own storage box, which is really great with toys that have alot of pieces.  The directions were easy to read, and it gave a link to go online and watch a tutorial on how to make the bracelets.  The Friends 4 Ever Bracelets are designed for ages 8 and up, and I definitely think this is appropriate.  My eight year old and I had fun trying to figure it out.  It took us awhile, and we watched the help video to get started.  I love that it is a fun and creative toy, and my daughter loves that she will be able to share them with her friends.

Growing Tree Toys has some really great promotions going on.  They have a birthday club, Deal of the day, and a blog sponsorship program.  You can also find Growing Tree Toys on Twitter.  Subscribe to their newsletters to get great deals and discounts.

***Disclosure*** I was not paid for this post.  I was sent a product to review free of charge, and this in no way influenced my review.  Thank you to The Growing Tree Toy company for the review product.

Do you love to label your household items?  I am one of those people that believes everything has a place and there is a place for everything.  I found Stuck on You labels in a magazine and couldn't wait to try them out.  I was given the opportunity to review the Kitchen Collection labels.  I choose the vintage design.  There are over 80 labels in this set!  There is a label for everything you can think of, from rice to sugar, and everything in between.  No more wondering what is in that container, simply peel the label and place it on your container.  They work on glass, plastic and metal and they are microwave and dishwasher safe.  The Kitchen collection comes in four styles and has two sizes, you can purchase it for $29.95 plus shipping and it is shipped with in 2 to 3 weeks.

When I received my Kitchen labels I was so excited I had to order some containers to put the labels on!  I tried to take pictures but the containers that I bought  were a clear plastic and so the labels did not photograph well at all.  But you can head on over to the Stuck on You website and see all the wonderful stuff they have.  You can also find them on Facebook and Twitter.

The Girls from Ames - book review

The Girls from Ames A Story of Women & a Forty-Year Friendship by Jeffrey Zaslow.

The Girls from Ames is a wonderful book based on the lives of eleven women who grew up in Ames, Iowa.  The women open up their hearts and lives and share about true friendship.
From elementary school, high school, college and then  marriage and family they have been together through it all.  Friends for forty years they have shared the ups and downs of life, and show the real meaning of friendship.

Author Jeffrey Zaslow is offered a unique look into the lives of the women from Ames.  He visits them on one of their reunions and gets an honest look into each one of the women's lives.

I loved this book.  It was like standing on the outside of a window and watching the lives of these women and all they have gone through and shared.  Truly amazing to see how they have gone from childhood friends to adult friends.  You will get a glimpse of each women and who they were as a child and what they have become as a women.
I would recommend this book to everyone, there is something to be learned from these women on the value of friendship.

The Sound Snatcher - Childrens Book Review

The Sound Snatcher - How the Vacuum Cleaner Got Its Noise was written by Linda Bryan Sabin. The Sound Snatcher is a noisy and hungry vacuum looking for sounds to snatch.  If you have a child who fears the vacuum and is afraid of its noise then this is the perfect book for them.

This is the story of the sound snatcher, a hungry vacuum, looking for sounds to devour.  Your child will go on a journey in the day of a vacuum cleaner.  Each page is brightly illustrated, and on each page you will also see the Peeking Kitty.  The Peeking Kitty is not a primary character of the book, but a major feature in it.

About the Author:
Linda Bryan Sabin lives in California with her husband.  She says she was born a teacher and a writer and her goal is to acquaint young readers with the beauty and magic of the written and spoken word.

I really liked the book and I especially liked the fact that after the story their is a section called Let's Talk about the Book, a question and answer section about the book.  I think this is a great feature especially if the book is read to a group of children. I also like the section called The Words I Heard, all the words from the book are listed with their meaning and pronunciation.  A great resources for children and a fun way to learn new words.

The Sound Snatcher can be purchased for $14.95 here and can also be found on Amazon.  You can find more information about Linda Bryan Sabin and see what other books she has to offer here.  You can also follow her on twitter and facebook.

***Disclaimer*** I was not paid for this review, I was sent a free copy of this book.  Thank you to Linda Bryan Sabin for send me the review copy.

    First Time Books- Review

I found First Time Books on Facebook and they kindly allowed me to choose a book to review.  They have some of the cutest, personalized books!  I choose The ABC book for my youngest who loves to read, though she isn't able to read (she is almost 2) she has a great love of books.

    About the Company
First Time Books was created by John Burke Jr. and Chad Kase.   When John Burke and his wife were having trouble potty training the youngest of our three daughters, Molly a light went off in my head one night. Burke who has 25 years of printing and book binding experience, devised a potty training book that represented the characteristics of our family, such as race, gender, hair color and length. My business partner, Chad Kase, and I created and programmed a distinctive, unique and special storybook about Molly and her potty training adventure. Needless to say, after receiving her own potty book, Molly never entered the bathroom without it, and within 2 weeks, I was living in a diaper free home.

    How it works
You choose the story book you want and then you choose your child's gender, ethnicity, hair color, and a friends name.  You simple click on the book you want and then choose your stuff from their.  It's very easy to do and you can see what you are choosing as you go along.

The books to choose from are:
    My Personalized ABC Book
    My Personalized Potty Book
    My Personalized Birthday Book
    My Personalized Zoo Book
    My Personalized Coloring Book
    My Personalized I Spy Book
    My Personalized Journals
    My Christmas Adventure Book

I love our Personalized ABC book.  It has a picture of M. on every page and every page has her name in the story, plus she is learning her ABC's too!  She loves the book, because she hears her name and the character looks like her.  Each page is nicely designed and is bright and colorful. I believe this would make any child happy and I think it would make a great gift.

Each book is 8.5 X 11 inches in size and each book varies in price.  Prices start out at $15.00 for a soft cover book.   You also have the option to purchase and download a pdf and print your own book.  Visit First Time Books for more information and don't forget to follow them on Facebook, and check out their blog.

***Disclaimer*** I was not paid for this post.  I was sent a free copy to review.  Thank you to  First Time Books for sending me our copy to review.

    Disaster Status- Book Review

Disaster Status written by Candace Calvert. This is the second book in the series. The book features charge nurse Erin Quinn and Fire Chief Scott McKenna.  Both are struggling with family issues and spiritual battles.  When brought together sparks will fly.  Erin Quinn escaped personal turmoil to work on the peaceful California coast. But when a hazardous material spill places Pacific Mercy Hospital on disaster status and stresses staff, she’s put to the test.   Fire Captain Scott McKenna has felt the toxic effects of tragedy; he’s learned to go strictly by the book to advance his career, heal his family, and protect his wounded heart.  As they work to save lives, can they handle the attraction kindled between them . . . without getting burned?

I hadn't read the first book in the series, but it didn't matter, there was only a slight reference to the characters of the first book.  In this book you will also get a glimpse of the characters in the third book of the series.  I definitely will go back and read the first book.   Disaster Status is a cross of ER and Grey's Anatomy with spiritual advice thrown in.  The book was a good quick read, and the author can definitely paint a clear picture of what it is like in the ER.  If you like hospital drama this book is for you.

***Disclaimer*** I was not paid for this post.  I was sent a copy free of charge for review from Tyndale.

    Flo -by Boon - Review

Have you heard about Boon?  It's a great new company that sells innovative products for the modern parents.   It all began with a messy toddler bathtub. Designer Rebecca Finell's wheels started turning and the Frog Pod was born.  Today Boon offers many innovative products for parents, that are affordable, as well as stylish.

I was sent the Flo - Water Deflector and Protective Faucet Cover with Bubble Bath Dispenser to test out.  It is a must have bathroom accesory.  Combining multiple functions into a single device, Flō provides a simple solution to several bath time challenges. This unique product diverts the flow of water, creating a gentle waterfall, while providing a protective faucet cover to help guard against injury. Flō also functions as a bubble bath dispenser.
The Flo is very easy to attach to the tub faucet, simple squeeze and it opens up, and slides right on to the faucet.  It comes off just as easily, and is easy to clean.  My kids were very excited to test it out, and they couldn't wait for bathtime.  It made bath time fun, as they had a waterfall and bubbles at the same time!  Plus the Flo kept them from hitting there head on the faucet.

The Flo comes in three colors- green, pink, and blue.  It sells for 14.99 and can be purchased on the Boon website or at select retailers.

You can find Boon on facebook and twitter and you can subscribe to their blog.

***Disclaimer*** I was not paid for this post.  I was sent a product for free to try out, this in no way influenced by review. Thank you to Boon for supplying the review product.

    Zupers - Review

Zupers was created Wendy Feller.  As a mom, Wendy wanted to make functional clothing for her little girl.  She came up with Zupers- leggings with removeable, heart shaped knee pads.  Zupers are perfect for the little girl who loves to play and have a good time.  Wendy created Zupers for girls to be strong, athletic and brave but still enable them to dress like a girl.

Zupers are 90% Micropolyester/10% Lycra® and the knee pads are 100% neoprene/100% nylon covering. Made from rip-resistant yet soft fabric, these UV and moisture wicking long leggings will keep her cool in the summer, and warm in the winter.  Also coming soon are Zuper shorts, organic tees and headbands.

We were sent the Isabella leggings in pink for my youngest daughter.  She absolutley loves her Zupers!  She wants to wear them every day!

They are super soft and comfortable, and can be worn by themselves or under a skirt.  I love the little knee pads- they will protect little knees from those unforseen falls.

Zupers come in sizes 6 months up to size 6X. And are priced at $24.00, with many patterns to choose from.
You can purchase Zupers on their website and a few select stores.
Be sure and follow Zupers on Twitter and Facebook and check out their blog.
