Hello Again!

Okay, so it's still summer vacation, but not for long.

Teachers go back in 11 days!
The first day of school is two weeks from today!

HOLY COW!

The hardest part for us will be waking up early again.

Right now we wake up (really, really late) and say,
"Geez, we'd just be coming in from recess right now," or,
"We would be walking our class to lunch right now," and
"Hey, we would already be teaching for an hour and a half by now."

But we're just getting up when we say those things.
YIKES!

Summer Vacation

I'm officially on summer vacation. (And so is my blog.)

Ahhhh...SUMMER
a time to become reacquainted with that newborn stage again.
Eat, sleep, go to the bathroom...repeat as needed.

I am planning on relaxing and enjoying the summer. (It's great having a husband who is also off all summer as well.) I also have a brand new classroom to get ready, lesson plans to make, etc. Very exciting and fun work though!

I'll be reading and commenting on your blogs, but just not posting on mine.

Happy Summer!

Free Sample

IdeaPaint is giving free samples of their white board paint. Just fill out the form and they will send you the sample.

IdeaPaint is a patent-pending single-coat roller-applied paint that transforms any smooth surface into a high performance dry-erase writing surface. IdeaPaint is perfect for the conference room, creative spaces, classrooms, home offices, kids rooms, playrooms… or any other spaces.

I can't wait to get my sample. I want to paint it on the space on Steve's classroom filing cabinets where there is that little space where you put a piece of paper in to say what the file is. Ex: Spelling, Misc. But now instead of the paper, I could paint it so that he can change the label whenever he wants with his dry erase markers. I could picture going crazy with this stuff all over the house. How about fun messages on the toilet seat lid? Hmmm....

I'm Published

It's nothing very big, but I have a poem in the May edition of the on line magazine Stories for Children. My poem is illustrated by a youth artist. He did a good job of a desk top with my name on a name tag. Cute!

I enjoy writing and decided to submit for them. They accept submissions from children and adults. It was interesting going through the publishing process with the editors. Luckily I didn't have to revise much from my first draft. An enjoyable experience.

Anyone interested in submitting should give it a try. They are very easy and nice to work with.

Dear Mom...

(Carol Ann Montney Marshall
aka MOM)

Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks for all you've done for me. What a great mom you are!

Thanks for making my prom dresses, mall shopping for hours and hours without getting tired, being there for me anytime I need you, hiding some report cards from dad, laughing so hard till we cry, giving ME gifts when I became a mom for my "birth" day, taking me and my friends toilet papering, being CEO of Camp Grandma, watching our kids, vacations, Taco Bell coupons, being a great cook, paying for so much, giving me so many opportunities, being my soccer coach for the only season I played without any wins, all your advice, the peacemaker in you that you passed on to me, and so much more...

But I know you are old and your eyes won't want to read so much. (hee hee) Thanks for laughing at me when I am making fun of you. I'll just say one last thing-

I LOVE YOU MOM!

Happy Anniversary to us

Our announcement picture.
Gotta love that sailor polka dot dress with huge shoulder pads.

My sister, Steve, me, my mom, my dad

After getting married on a perfect cloudless day in the Los Angeles temple,
we had our reception in my backyard. My dad had the yard picture perfect.
We had catered chicken enchiladas, rice, beans, chips and salsa-
going with the Cinco de Mayo theme.
We had a harpist playing up on the patio. It was perfect!

Our cake was chocolate mousse.
We did the traditional thing of saving the top of the cake in the freezer
to enjoy on our one year anniversary.
However, being poor starving students, we ate it three months later.

No shoulder pads, but a very high curled bang. YIKES!

The white t-shirt I'm wearing actually had shoulder pads. For real!

Our Caribbean cruise honeymoon.
We were so spoiled!

19 years ago on May 5, 1990 we celebrated Cinco de Mayo.

Okay, we also got married too.

I'm so blessed to add another year being married to my best friend.
