ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
SOLILOQUY challenges the viewer to engage with an artist's work by removing familiar viewing elements such as comparison and contrast from the traditional exhibition format. In this, there is the hope to create a more focused dialogue about the artist's work. For the artist, it exchanges the pressure of having to fill a space with presenting a single work to hold the room.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ryan McGinness grew up in the surf and skate culture of Virgina Beach. His paintings, prints, sculpture and installations incorporate the graphic elements of public signage and corporate logos, as well as images from art history. The fusion of influences establishes McGinness’ own iconographic language as a multi-faceted reflection of contemporary visual culture. He has achieved international success, having had numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia. His work is included in many public and private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Richmond, VA, and The Charles Saatchi Collection, among many others.
