2011 Recap

At the end of last year I was determined to get organized, take care of myself, get the hubby home, and accomplish a few goals. We accomplished this and so much more!

2011 brought new events, new locations, and a new life!

January:

We weathered out a winter storm, saved a baby, and attended the "Greatest Show on Earth"

We attempted a family picture, took a chancy road trip, kept it real, and enjoyed some buckin' bulls.

Mommy didn't blog very much. I was in a moody funk, had a crazy Spring Break, did some catching up, and gave sink baths!.

We started a new crawl, wore clothes made by Mommy, celebrated Daddy's return from his out-of-town job, and experienced a devastating loss from April's "fury."

We found our favorite spot that would soon become so much more, celebrated with our favorite one year old, caught our first fish and went through our first surgery.

We took a family trip north and south, had a big scare and had to continue these, and welcomed our newest friend into the world.

Good times! We made a big purchase and gave it a face lift, witnessed the power of prayer, and enjoyed a giant event to celebrate a year!

We partied like rockstars, took up dancing, showered Auntie Sarah, and adjusted to the new.

We recovered from Auntie Sarah's wedding, enjoyed game days and friendsprepared for what's to come, and reminded ourselves of what we love.

We had a birthday outing, invited friends to a birthday playdate, picked pumpkins, took a weekend trip, and dressed as "Roll Tides".

Recapped, got a first hair cut, "we" lost a big game, and watched our favorite characters skate!

Talked about our Thanksgiving, lived it up, and had a horrible Ho Ho experience.

Looking forward to great times and new beginnings for our blessed little familly!
Happy New Year!

Santa's Drop Off

When we got home from Nana and Poppy's we hurriedly put the milk and cookies out and shuffled the Littles to bed. I knew Westin would sleep fine but I was a little concerned AR would be up and down so our plan was for me to lay down with AR until she was good and asleep and for Daddy to assemble the last two gifts we never got around to before hand.
Guess who both fell asleep? We both woke up at 11:30 disgusted with ourselves for falling asleep. We had assembled almost everything in the garage days before Christmas Eve so we wouldn't be up late like we were like year. However, 2 gifts were shipped late so he had not had a chance to put them together yet. Of course, those two gifts would take us until 2:30 in the morning to assemble. So much for going to bed early. Heath and I were just thankful we woke up. I kept imagining what Christmas morning would have been like if we woke up to realize we hadn't done anything...ha!

Despite the frustration, I became giddy after seeing all of our hard work set out perfectly for little eyes to see in a few hours...

Christmas Procrastination

Christmas has never been this stressful for me. Heath and I bought most of AR's and Westin's gifts the day after Thanksgiving but not all of them. Most everything else I wanted to get them I needed to get online. I don't know where my brain was this year because I had the hardest time gathering up Christmas presents. It's impossible to shop with a 3 year old and a 17 month old and last year I bought almost everything online. This year, I just couldn't get it together. After my horrible day on Christmas Eve Eve, I brought the Littles home and waited for Heath to arrive to take over. I then departed around 7:00 and didn't return until I was finished with every bit of my Christmas shopping. Around 11:00, I had 3 sleeping loved ones all snuggled in their beds, a blazing fire in the fireplace, and a room full of gifts that needed to be wrapped. Yes, I had not wrapped a single gift. So I sat my happy bottom in the floor and wrapped for hours. I wish I had wrapped them all sooner because our Christmas tree was loved much more after placing all of the presents underneath it.

I will not put myself through this again next year. I've already started buying for next Christmas. My plan is to be completed by October! We shall see.

Christmas with Poppy and Nana

Another tradition we have started is going to Nana and Poppy's Christmas Eve night. Even though we are always stuffed after leaving Granny's for lunch, we always find a way to shovel in more of Nana's good ole' country cooking.

Heath told me Christmas Eve morning that he really wanted to hunt for a few hours. So we left Granny's, let Daddy go hunting, and the Littles and I went back home to nap. When Daddy returned, we loaded up and drove down the road to Nana's.
Nana cooked an amazing Christmas Eve dinner that we gobbled up...
...and then we jumped into the presents.
I didn't think it was possible but Nana and Poppy outdid themselves again.
They sure do know how to spoil us ;)

Waldrop Family Christmas

Every year on Christmas Eve we go to Granny's {Heath's grandmother} for Christmas. We have been doing this for as long as I've known Heath so we just plan our other gatherings around this one. This side of the family is massive. I think it's safe to say that there was over 40 people there and the newest generation of Littles were babies last year. This year, they were everywhere, into everything and Westin was one of them :)
Thankfully Christmas Eve day was beautiful and wasn't too cold. We kept the kids outside almost the entire time to keep the older adults sane. They had a blast playing in the yard and having a picnic on the front porch!
We always eat first and open presents last. When we made Westin come inside he had one of his newest fits.
When he realized he had an audience I think he got a little embarrassed and just laid in the floor.
Sawyer decided to join him.
Fun times and never a dull moment!
