Spring Break Getaway

On Friday, the kids and I hopped in the car with Memaw and drove 5 hours to Blairsville. It wasn't a peaceful, relaxing ride by any means. We were constantly picking up dropped items from the floor board, breaking up fights over blankies and toys, and stopping for junk food to pacify bored, screaming Littles. Memaw may or may not have threatened to to put us all out on the side of I20. :) Thankfully, all 4 of us made it to Blairsville safely and let MiMi and Poppa begin baby duty. I, of course, brought my camera but soon realized I left my SD card in my laptop at home. On Friday night we had a fabulous dinner on the deck and let AR and Westin play their little hearts out.

On Saturday morning, we stopped by CVS to purchase another card before we took a drive over the mountains to enjoy the North Georgia petting zoo.
AR and Westin had a blast feeding and petting the animals but I think Memaw enjoyed it more than anyone. Baby goats own her :)

After a good washing of the hands and a potty break, we enjoyed a light lunch before heading to our next location.

Next stop: Cabbage Patch Kids Babyland. When AR was about 8 months old we took her to Babyland but since then they have built an amazing new building, so we went to check it out.

So how did this family get around on this lovely Saturday afternoon...

The kids were pooped and so were the grown ups. We spent the rest of the evening relaxing, eating, and enjoying one more night together before our departure.

Our stay was short but oh so sweet. I can't wait to spend lots of summer days with MiMi and Poppa in the mountains of north Geogia!

Spring Break Stay-cation

Yes, Spring Break was about 3 weeks ago and it's hard to believe I haven't updated much since. What I thought was internet issues has turned out to be my laptop. We may be computer shopping in the near future. Anyway, this week will be full of pictures and recaps mainly for memory purposes and grandparent fixes.

Like I said before, I was determined to spend most of our Spring Break outside doing whatever the kids felt like doing.

Our Spring Break began with AR's first tball practice Friday afternoon after school. Are these Littles cute or what? Thankfully, AR and her little boy "friend", Lane are on the same team. After practice, AR gave him  sugar right on the lips. She loves her some Lane.

Saturday was St. Patrick's Day. Nana showed AR how to look for 4 leaf clovers, the kids had Easter pictures with Codie, and then they spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside, eating popsicles and enjoying their time with Bella.
Daddy spent the entire weekend cutting the grass for the first time this Spring.

Sunday we attended Codie's baby shower and then spent another full day outside working in the yard and playing.

Monday was our official first day of Spring Break but sadly I spent the morning of it in the doctor's office and the rest of the afternoon resting.

Thankfully by Tuesday I was feeling better and was able to get all 3 of us ready to meet Memaw for her birthday and shopping. We also spent Tuesday planting flowers and planning a Fun Day for Wednesday.

Wednesday we invited many of the cousins over to enjoy the inflatable waterslide and some fun in the sun!!

We completely wore the kids out. My original plan for Thursday was a trip to the zoo. Thankfully, rain moved in which gave these Littles a day to rest and their Momma an opportunity to actually do some cleaning and pack for our weekend getaway.

...and what is a fabulous Spring Break week without a couple of injuries to show for it. Westin ended up with a black eye after going face first into the toilet and AR spend Thursday evening on the couch after scraping her knees and elbow and refusing to get over it.

Friday morning we left out for a weekend getaway to one of our favorite places...

Spring Break and all that Jazz

This is really long. I sat down and all of a sudden I have a book written!!

One of the perks of being a teacher is Spring Break! I sometimes forget that not every human being has a Spring Break. Heath quickly reminds me every year that he will be working when I am off for the week..ha!! I decided not to fill up our week of Spring Break with tons of things to do. The Friday we got out, Aunt Sonya took Westin to the doctor for me while I wrapped up my last day of work before my break. He, of course, had the croup as he did the weeks we were out for Christmas Break. Thankfully we caught it early and was able to wipe it out very quickly. The downside of this was that he was on a steroid that made him O.R.N.E.R.Y. It's the only word I can think of to describe his mood. He was miserable, I was miserable so the first few days of Spring Break were less than stellar. On a brighter note, my mom drove in that same Friday to spend the weekend with us! I have signed up for a few sewing classes and one happened to land on Saturday so she kept the babies for me so I could enjoy my morning at Sew Close to Home learning how to make pants!

I must say that I am in love with sewing and the thought of making AR and Westin's summer clothes makes me giddy. I want to learn more!! Even though Mr. Westin was ill-natured, Mom and I were still able to set up the sewing machines and practice what I learned!! It was fun.

We also attempted a little something I found on a blog {I have no clue which one} around Valentine's Day. On the post I ran across, they made a heart out of ribbon and sewed it onto the shirt. So we attempted a St. Patrick's Day shamrock. I must say it's precious and AR loved that it was hers!

Mom left me Monday morning. Sadly, I had two cranky babies with green, runny noses. Since it never fails that Westin's runny noses always turn into something way worse and AR had been on an antibiotic for a sinus infection and it still never cleared up, I decided to get them both into the doctor on Tuesday. So after some fabric shopping and lunch with Memaw, we made our way to the pediatrician. It was my first trip, I must say, to take both of them to the doctor by myself. They both did great! I was so proud of them. Neither one cried when Dr. Goldblatt checked them over and both got smiley faces on their tongue depressors!

The results: Westin Wayne is over the croup but now has a sinus infection. AR still has a sinus infection and needs an xray done on her adenoids because more than likely they need to be removed.

Wednesday we made our way to Children's Hospital South to have the xrays done. Again, AR was amazing! Her adenoids are "enlarged" so we were referred to an ENT. I guess we will go from there.

Thursday morning I was suppose to catch a 6:30 flight out of Birmingham to San Antonio. I decided to stay at my dads on Wednesday night with the kids so he could drive me to the airport and the kids could sleep in since they were staying there anyway. I set my alarm for 4:00 am and my mom called me at 4:30 to make sure I was awake. Guess what: Westin woke me up at 5:30. Yes! 5:30. I was suppose to be checking my bags and walking through security at 5:30. Not rolling out of bed. I did make it to the airport in time but not without panic or doubt. I landed in San Antonio at 10:00 and enjoyed 5 days with my wonderful husband. The fact that I didn't take many pictures is an understatement. I actually only took 1:
St. Patty's Day with the Leprechaun who really isn't Irish. The beard...L'Oreal.
I was kind of shocked with myself that this is all I took. This was my first trip to San Antonio by myself so Heath and I enjoyed so much quality time together. We didn't do a whole lot of "touristy" things. We ate and shopped and ate and shopped and ate some more and read. It was so nice! I sure do love that hubby of mine {even though he got mad at me for making him break his diet for a few days :}!!

While I was enjoying precious time with the hubs, our babies were spending quality time in Huntsville with their JiJi and Uncle Joe and our extended family. I asked Jill to send me pictures so I looked forward to these sweet pictures coming through my phone throughout the week.

Westin and Matt!
They had such a good time. Two days into my trip Westin became congested, wheezy, hoarse, etc. I decided to take a morning flight instead of the afternoon flight out of San Antonio on Monday so I could get Westin back into the doctor before I started back to work.

Monday: Westin, AR and I are finally reunited after I was delayed in Houston for too long. I took the kids back to the doctor.
Westin's results: thrush and ear infection. The sweet baby had croup, a sinus infection, thrush, and and ear infection in one week. Lord, please have mercy on him and our checking account.

Spring Break co pays - $112.00
Spring Break prescriptions - $36

Last week was rough. Both kids had a really hard time adjusting back to their daily routine....and so did I. Westin was sick and really cranky and I couldn't blame him for it. Thankfully, everyone is better, we all got to spend several days with our sweet Daddy, and Mommy is on countdown to the last day of school. I am hoping for a much better week!!
