30 Day Picture Challenge: Day 10

Day 10:

A picture of the person you do the craziest things with

This is my friend Jen.

She is the childrens pastor at our church.

She is my sister from another mister.

We have been known to randomly burst out in song,

Or start dancing,

Or just laugh hysterically for no reason.

We are not afraid to make fools of ourselves for the sake of a laugh.

Or say things to make our husbands blush.

She encourages me to get out of my shell, to stop hiding and just have fun!

Letters of Intent

Foursons

Dearest Hubby,

Thank you so much for teaching our daughters this valuable piece of knowledge.

Untitled from Tiffany Bleger on Vimeo.

I'm sure that somewhere, someone is praying, "Dear Lord, please let our little Sammy find a wife who loves sumo when he grows up."

Love,
Might be taking the tomboy thing just a little too far

Dear AT&T,

Thank you so much for buying Alltel in our area.  Because, when our service switched last week, our home was suddenly no longer the dreaded cell coverage black hole of doom.  I really appreciate being able to talk to people while sitting on my couch, as opposed to freezing my tail off on the porch.  And I love that I can talk to my sister in GA for free now.

Sincerely,
Loving the crackberry

Dear Mom & Dad,

I get it.  You are slightly older than me.  And technology can be, well, confusing for those of a more *ahem* advanced maturity.  But when my entire day at work is spent setting up your voicemails, your emails, your apps, your contacts, your ringtones, and everything else that comes along with getting new phones, I suddenly get the urge to ...

Resigning My Job As Tech Support

To the clutter that has taken over my home,

Your days are numbered.  That number is, in fact, seven.  Seven more days, and you are gone.  Seven more days, and I will be home to take you on.  Seven more days, and I will rejoin the ranks of women whose full-time job is being home with their babies.  And my first project is to get rid of you.  So enjoy it while it lasts, cause this momma's comin for ya!

Sincerely,
Slightly excited to no longer be gainfully employed

The Story of a Haircut

Once upon a time,

there was a mommy with long hair.

Not "lasso the dog" long, but still long.

This momma knew there were little girls who were fighting cancer.
Little girls who have lost their hair.
And she couldn't imagine her babies being forced to fight that battle.
So she did the one thing she knew she could do to help.

She cut 10 inches off her hair.

And mailed it to the amazing people at Locks of Love.

So that, somewhere, a little girl fighting cancer can concentrate on fighting the cancer rather than being self-conscious.

And, since this mommy had NEVER EVER EVER dyed her hair, her very brave and wonderful friend volunteered for the task.  Yes, this is the same friend that the mommy wrote about here.  She really is that good of a friend.

The two friends even made a special trip to Wal-Mart to pick out the color.
The mommy never knew just how many options of hair color there are.
It was slightly overwhelming.

They ended up choosing one that was not quite Marilyn Monroe, but still lighter than the original.

And, wouldn't you know it?  Some of the mommy's natural red highlights just came popping out!

The mommy was very happy with the new strawberry color.  All of her friends agreed that the new cut and color was just as spunky as her personality.

But, most important to the mommy was the knowledge that somewhere there will be a little girl with hope and a full head of blond hair.

30 Day Picture Challenge: Day 9

Day 9:

A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most

This is my friend Jill.

She is pretty much amazing.

We met when she started dating the youth pastor at our church, and Jerome and I volunteered for the middle school group.

Jill did not want to volunteer with the middle schoolers.  She thought they were stinky or something.

Needless to say, we did not become bousum buddies immediately.

But Jill is still amazing.

She helped me prepare for our wedding - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.

She has walked with me through all three pregnancies.

She has sat with me during the pit of my depression, and danced with me on my mountaintops.

Jill has always, always spoken truth in my life.

You do not find that very often these days.

And she was willing to dye my hair this weekend.

She really has seen me through everything!

You Know You're A Momma When...

... you have to pack up 6 naked barbies, 9 plastic sharks, three strands of beads, and a ducky washcloth just to take a bath in your own bathtub.

...  you get to work and have someone's dried snot on your shirt.  And you're not sure whose it is.

...  you consider it a successful day when you make it through without food thrown in your general direction.

... the most important aspect of a new hairstyle is if it is "have to jump out of the shower mid-shampoo because someone has peed/pooped/puked/bled all over something expensive" flexible.

... a normal evening at home includes removing both kool-aid and bodily fluids from the carpet.

30 Day Picture Challenge: Day 8

Day 8:

A picture that makes you laugh

So.  I couldnt pick just one.  Cause my kids take some really funny pictures.  Like this one, of my mini-wizard.

Or the very happy bug:

And you know our family is all about artistic expression:

And cultural sensitivity.

But, in the end, we are just a bunch of red-blooded Americans:

Bonus:  Can you tell which kid is which?

Not Here Today

Well, I am, but I'm not.

I am staying home with my three precious princesses today.  One has had an abdominal migraine all weekend and could use the rest, one was up every few hours last night coughing & snotting, and the other could just use some mommy time.

While I am enjoying my princesses, you can head over to Testify to read a guest post I wrote about the wandering past God seems to take us on at times.  I pray it blesses your day.  While you are there, you might as well follow along.  Testify is an amazing blog designed for believers to encourage each other.

A Mental Health Test

Welcome.

Thanks so much for coming.

Please, have a seat at the table.

Now, tell me.

What do you see?

Hmm...very interesting.

And how about this one?

What do you see here?

And one last time.

What do you see here?

Thank you very much for participating.

Oh, what were they?

Well, they are supposed to be butterflies.

Don't worry.  You're still normal.

The mother of the artists didn't get it right either.

Letter of Intent: Girlfriend Advice

Foursons

To my bloggy girlfriends (and guy friends with hair opinions):

I am in serious need of some advice here.  I am donating my hair to Locks of Love next week.  I am pretty sure I will have the minimum 10 inches, but it will make my hair fairly short.  I will have NEVER had my hair this short.  I need some votes.  My sweet hairdresser gave me a couple of books to thumb through, but I just can't make up my mind.  Please take a look & let me know what you think!  And just so I don't get in trouble, all photos came from the Inspire Hair Fashion hardback collections.

Option 1:
I like this because it is fun & funky, but I worry about how much time I would have to spend making it look fun and funky every day.

Option 2:

This one is really soft & sweet, but I have done this hairstyle before, only a bit longer.  And bangs tend to annoy me.

Option 3:

I love the angular look on this one.  I can see how I could style it both straight & curly (I have very curly hair when it's short).  But, again, the bangs.

Options 4 & 5:

I could easily see wash-and-go with both of these.  #4 (top) is the more angular & edgy, while #5 (bottom) seems more gentle and flowing.  However, I am concerned about the possibility of looking like a mushroom cap on those rare days when CO decides to have humidity.

Option 6:

This is, by far, my favorite so far.  Maybe it's because there are 9 different photos of the same hairstyle, shown both straight and curly.  I can see all my options!  I love the layers in the back with the long bangs that I can tuck behind my ears.  However, I am concerned by how much time it will take me in the morning to not look like I stuck my finger in the light socket.

I am not kidding here, friends.  I use hairspray/gel maybe half a dozen times a year.  I have NEVER colored my hair, although I am slighly considering it. I need help.  Tell me what you think.

Humbly,
The Girlyness-Challenged One

Another Random Bullet Point Post

Because I have a lot to say, but none of it flows together enough for a "real" post.

  • I found a place (courtesy of some awesome church friends) in town that services sewing machines.  I dropped mine off on Saturday, and it was ready the same day!  Before, I had to drive an hour to a certain state whose drivers give me hives, leave my sewing machine at the only place that would touch it, wait a month, call them to see if they got it done yet, hear some sob story about how the repair guy's grandmother's aunt's sister-in-law's dog walker had something tragic happen and he hadn't gotten around to it yet, wait another month, then call them to find out it was ready three weeks ago but someone forgot to call me.  Needless to say, I am very excited about the prospect of sewing again.  And the fabric in this store is AMAZING.  Ok, I need to stop with the virtual drooling now.

  • I got my tires rotated.  I always feel like such a stud when little old girlie me walks into the tire shop with all the burly auto men and tells them exactly what I need, and they treat me like I know what I am talking about.

  • This sidewalk annoys me.  Sidewalks should be a straight line.  Not all curvy.

  • Madi and I are positively itchy to get our garden going this year.  But considering the fact that we live in CO where it has been known to snow on the 4th of July, I think I will wait until Mother's Day to do any planting.  Sigh.  Madi requested squash.  Only my child.

  • I went to S*bway to get lunch and they were out of meatballs.  Really?  That completely threw my day in a whack because the only sandwich I have gotten from there in the last 5 years is the meatball.

  • I cleaned popcicle, kool-aid, and pee off my floors within the last 24 hours.  I'm telling you, the life of a mom is nothing but glamour.

  • The fish at our office were constipated this week.  I had no idea fish could be constipated.

  • My husband shaved his head this weekend.  I think he looks hot.  He is also coaching Kat's Little League team this year.  They are the Red Sox.  All the coaches have to be in uniform with the team this year.  Which means baseball pants.  I love my husband in baseball pants.  It's going to be a good summer.

  • Boss Man & Boss Lady are in LV for a conference this week.  Which means Boss Man is forced to behave himself in classes all day while Boss Lady gets to shop and lounge by the pool.  Which means we get to listen to whatever music we want at the office.  Which means I get to hear Garth Brooks and Toby Keith from one office and Metallica and Cyndi Lauper from the other.

  • That is all.

30 Day Picture Challenge: Day 7

For more of my 30 Day Picture challenge, go here

Day 7:  A picture of your most treasured item

I wear my rings every day. I'm not much of a jewelry person. I barely remember I have holes in my ears in which to put earrings. But these two rings are with me 24-7. Yes, they are desperately in need of a deep cleaning. Yes, they probably need to have prongs replaced, a little rough spot fixed. But they are my rings.

One was given to me on the night my handsome prince vowed to sweep me off my feet and cherish me the rest of my life.  The other was given to me the day after our youngest princess was born, a beautiful stone for each beautiful daughter.  And, every day, these rings remind me of the loves of my life.

TST: Best Date Night Ever!

My hubby knows the way to my heart.

He took me to one of my favorite spots.

where you can look out over the golf course,

up to this beautiful stone picnic building

which I have always thought would be an amazing spot for a wedding (without the ugly picnic tables, of course).

We stood, and watched the snow roll into the valley,

and put up with my desire to play with my new camera by taking random photos of waterbottles,

and windows,

and sunlight,

and budding tree branches.

Then he took me to the library, where he has a key to the secret room.

The secret room is where they pull all the books that have been donated that aren't going into the main collection.  Every month, he takes boxes of these books to a storage unit, where they sit until the library's book sale every summer.

The benefit of volunteering to drive books across town?  If he sees a book he wants, he can have it.  And when you have this many books to choose from:

you are practically guaranteed to find something you will love.  I did.  I am really into Vince Flynn books right now, in case you were wondering.

By this point in our date, I was hungry.  And my man knows that a hungry Tiffy is a grumpy Tiffy.  So he took me to the new smokehouse in town (the one all the boys have gotten to go to, but all of us girls haven't) to get me a shrimp po'boy and crawfish bisque soup.  Nom nom!

Want me to look for anything for you the next time I'm in the secret room?
