Letters of Intent

Foursons

Dearest Hubby,

Thank you so much for teaching our daughters this valuable piece of knowledge.

I'm sure that somewhere, someone is praying, "Dear Lord, please let our little Sammy find a wife who loves sumo when he grows up."

Love,
Might be taking the tomboy thing just a little too far

Dear AT&T,

Thank you so much for buying Alltel in our area.  Because, when our service switched last week, our home was suddenly no longer the dreaded cell coverage black hole of doom.  I really appreciate being able to talk to people while sitting on my couch, as opposed to freezing my tail off on the porch.  And I love that I can talk to my sister in GA for free now.

Sincerely,
Loving the crackberry

Dear Mom & Dad,

I get it.  You are slightly older than me.  And technology can be, well, confusing for those of a more *ahem* advanced maturity.  But when my entire day at work is spent setting up your voicemails, your emails, your apps, your contacts, your ringtones, and everything else that comes along with getting new phones, I suddenly get the urge to ...

To the clutter that has taken over my home,

Your days are numbered.  That number is, in fact, seven.  Seven more days, and you are gone.  Seven more days, and I will be home to take you on.  Seven more days, and I will rejoin the ranks of women whose full-time job is being home with their babies.  And my first project is to get rid of you.  So enjoy it while it lasts, cause this momma's comin for ya!

Sincerely,
Slightly excited to no longer be gainfully employed

True Story Tuesday: Cause I'm Good Like That

True Story Tuesday, brought to you once again by the illustrious Rachel and Mr Daddy.  Head on over there for more stories that are just to weird to be made up!

This is the door to the microwave at work.
This is what is is supposed to look like.

This is what the door looks like now.

This is the piece of plastic that broke off, rendering the entire appliance inoperable.

This is what I was trying to put back in the microwave.

This is the $3 clearance bracelet set from P*yless that I snagged on the aforementioned piece of plastic, tearing it from the microwave, rendering the entire appliance useless.  Please disregard the chubby fingers.  I really must talk to that hand model.

Did I mention that the tiny piece of broken plastic breaks the ENTIRE microwave?

You be the judge:
Cheap appliance construction or sturdiest bracelet ever?

This Weekend I...

  • found the new home for one of my favorite memes.  Go see Karen for more weekend points!

  • decided that Fridays, which are already jeans day at the office, will also be "fabulous black cowboy boots stolen from Mom's closet" day.

  • saved $50 on our grocery bill by combining in-store sales, value card downloadable coupons, and print coupons from the Sunday Denver Post.  Considering the fact that I paid $52 for a year's subscription to the Sunday Denver Post, I got a great deal!

  • had a fabulous study night with the best small group in Durango (no offense Jen or Shelly, but we do).

  • got to sleep in past 6:45, thanks to my threats of death & dismemberment

  • signed Katrina up for big-kid baseball and Madi for t-ball.  Chaotic sports season, here we come!

  • got much-needed haircuts for Kat, Violet, & myself.  Madi got caught up on her celebrity gossip and documented the process.

  • tried to keep the kitties off the counter, then gave up and just started taking photos of them.

  • got to go on a date with my smokin hot husband and eat the best italian food in our town.  Oh, and just for Rachel - we went to S*arbucks too!  All for free!  Booyah!

PYHO: I want to be home

I am grateful for my job.

I get to work with my parents, whom I love dearly.

I have a full-time job, in this economy.

I have bosses who understand when kids are sick, who encourage me to take time off to spend with them, who make every day enjoyable to be at work.

I am able to help my husband pay the bills while he builds his business.

But my heart is not here.

My heart is home, with my girls.

I never realized just how selfish I was, until I had to go to work.

And be away from them every day.

I would give anything to be breaking up arguments, making peanut butter and jelly for the 5th day in a row, wiping behinds and tears.

I want desperately to be the class mom at school, to have lunch with my girlfriends and the herd of toddlers, to be able to go to the park on a day other than Saturday.

Most days are ok.

I remind myself that this is temporary, that all of this is working towards getting me back home.

Sometimes, though, like today, the end of that tunnel just seems too far off.

Today, I just want to be home.

*Please understand: I am in NO WAY implying that one group (SAHM, WAHM, working mom, whatever) has it easier or harder than another.  I simply miss, with all my heart, being with my kids all day.

Thankful Thursday...yes, I'm still here

It has been so long since I've written a post. My life has been so busy lately. I'm working full time, then I come home, fix dinner, hang out with the kiddos, put them to bed, study for an hour, then drop into bed exhausted. I'm studying for my life & health license for work. Not that I want to, mind you. But it was "highly suggested", which translates to "DO IT".

So every night, about 8:30, I curl up on the couch with Jerome's laptop and immerse myself in the exciting world of life and health insurance underwriting guidelines. I know, you're all jealous. Your day seems so dull in comparison to my glamorous life. But really, ladies, I'm just like you.

Anyways...

So, I've been studying. And studying some more. And then, just for something different, I study from the book. I cannot wait for this test to be over. I like having my evenings. I like being able to chill on the couch with my hubby, maybe watch something on tv, maybe do a little horticultural work on my FB farm (darn you Sommer & Billy, for getting me hooked). Blog. But I know this is good for me. In the "a root canal is good for you" kind of way, but still good.

What in the world does this rant have to do with Thankful Thursday, you might ask? Honestly, I don't know. But, I do know that I am thankful for the peace that surpasses all understanding. Even though my days have been literally filled to the gills lately, I am peaceful. I am joyful. I am content. And it feels good.

I promise, I will get back to the blog updates. Our kids do so many weird and funny things, I can't not write them down. But, for now, it's back to studying. At least tonight is home group night - an awesome bunch of people, some sugar-free dessert (don't even get me going on this Healthy Challenge I got suckered into), and some good time to dig into God's thoughts. Gotta love it!
