Davis - 52 Months

I'm getting so big! I start school this week.  I will be in Pre-K.  At my school that means I move upstairs.  I love playing with Legos now, probably even more than iPhone games.  But I do still love to play iPhone and IPad games.  I like playing outside a lot too but bugs LOVE me so I come inside sooner than Luke.  I like making forts and tents and little, teeny tiny reading nooks where I play with my figures or play games.  One day, I will probably read in there.  I can't wait to be able to read and learn letters and all that.  Luke knows all of that and he will help me learn.  I'm loving the fruit roll ups and jerky that Dad has been making.  The fruit roll ups are the best.  Better than the kind from the store.  I probably shouldn't admit this but I love watching Duck Dynasty and Dual Survivor.  I think I can make it in the wild if that were to happen.  I also still like Phineas & Ferb and a few other Disney shows.  But no baby stuff around here.  I will update you all on school soon.

Davis - 51 Months

Edamame for breakfast.  That is how you roll when you are 51 months old.  I am having a great summer.  I went to zoo camp for the first time and I LOVED it.  You learn so much there. Like that Okapi have no eyelashes and that is why they have to lick their own eyeballs.    I also have been to so many parties.  I'm a little socialite.  I've been to parties: on the Tumblebus, with an army theme, at a trampoline park, with a pony, and to the movies.  There has not been a lame party yet, and trust me, if it was lame, I would let you know.  I'm still a fan of being contrary.  It's kind of my hobby.  But, if I want to be sweet, I can be so sweet.  I'm swimming like a fish.  I'm sleeping in more and more except for when Mom goes to bootcamp.  On those days I love to get up and play with all the other kids really early in the morning.  For baby book purposes, I want everyone to know that I'm able to go #2 with no problem now.  I don't have to be on a schedule or anything.  What changed? Who knows but that's what I'm doing now!  I'm known as a gamer around our family now.  I like to play the Wii and when we are at Mimi's house, I beg to play Michael's games or at least watch him play.  Sometimes, I just get so tired of the sun so I like to head inside for digital stimulation.  Mom and Dad limit the time I can play but I maximize every minute of it.   I love the movies in our car and anything Power Rangers too.  But don't worry about my brain rotting.  I spend lots of time outside and playing Lego's and Star Wars.  I also love board games and beg anyone to play with me.  Monopoly and Memory are my favorites.  Just try to beat me!
Well, enough about me.  Talk soon,
Davis

50 Months

Hi guys!

Hope you are having a great summer.  I am.  I finally feel well and nothing is slowing me down.  I have been a swimming machine.  And a big riding machine.  And a video game playing machine.  I love summer and all this free time.  I'm a fish in the water and love going to touch the bottom of the pool with my goggles on.  I love jumping in the deep end and playing games in the pool with Daddy, Michael and Luke.  Ever since I was sick I have been sleeping really, really well.  No one is complaining about that.  I'm not sure it had anything to do with my virus and pneumonia or if we should attribute it to the totally comfy new Darth Vader blanket I have on my bed.  I have also turned a huge corner on my #2 routine.  I don't have to be forced to go anymore.  I actually go on my own.  Not that any of you care about that but Mommy says she uses this as my baby book and we need to write stuff like that down! I have a new trick this month.  I ask Mommy to call Dad on the phone while he is on his way home and I talk to him like he is an old friend.  I have very thorough conversations with him on his way home.  It is pretty funny to listen to, or so I'm told.  I'm looking forward to a few more weeks of summer fun, a visit from Tia and PacMan and a week of zoo camp.  Hope you all have some good times to look forward to also.

Hi suckas (I mean like the lollipop),
I'm one feisty 4 year old.  I'm quick to judge, react, and scream.  Try me! We are now out of school and trying to enjoy summer.  We had a great trip to Marshall for the week before Memorial Day and a great visit with Mimi's friends Marya and Jane and Nash and Wren (and Tia and Pacman).  Then, I got a fever and a NASTY pervasive virus that has lasted for almost 3 weeks.  THREE WEEKS.  It finally turned into pneumonia and I got to get on antibiotics.  Up above you can see a picture of my pneumonia lungs.  My pediatrician thought it would be funny to take a picture of the x-ray in front of my real parts.  It is lined up pretty well, huh? I've hardly eaten while I've been sick so I've actually lost weight.  I'm going to need some serious food and desserts when I feel better.  Before this sickness I was a swimming machine.  I can't wait to get back in the water.  I was jumping in, swimming across the pool and going under water to touch the bottom.  I hope I don't forget my skillz! I've enjoyed watching Luke and his friends practice swimming for the swim team.  It is pretty cool.  I bet I will be on the team next year.  I've been relaxing a lot at home and having a great time playing in my "office."  My office is actually a huge box that Mimi snagged from a neighbor's new exercise bike.  I set up my office with a table, stool, pillow and blanket, my DS, and lots of weapons.  You don't want to sneak up on me! I'm looking forward to Father's Day and feeling better.  Talk to you soon (hopefully germ free),

I'm Four!

Did you hear that? I'm 4 now.  Finally!  As for 4th birthday stats, I'm 45 lbs and 41 inches tall.  My head, hearing, eyesight and boy parts are all perfect.  I got a ton of shots at my check up but good news, no more shots until I'm 11.  yay!  As you can see above, I will do anything for a good picture.  Something has to make trips to Ikea worthwhile!  I'm finishing up tball in the next few weeks.  I really wish we had played more games.  I think I need to move up to Dad's Club next year.  I'm also finishing up school soon.  I hate that.  I LOVE going to school.  But I also like staying home some days too.  You know why? Yep, because I love playing Wii Lego Star Wars.  I am going to beat that game soon and I just got it for my birthday.  Mom and Dad limit my playing time. And good thing, because if they didn't my brain would totally melt out of my head while I played for hours on end.  I like to go outside and play too but only for a little while.  Eventually, I can wear Daddy down by asking him over and over when we can beat the next level.  I know Dad's secret, he likes the Wii too.   I've had a few dips in Mimi's pool so far and can't wait for it to get warmer so I can practice swimming.  I'm excited for Muffins with Mom and Donuts with Dad at my school.  I have some cool gifts to give my folks.  I still love my Star Wars action figures.  I call them "my guys!"  I'm a little OCD about my footwear lately.  I really only want to wear my Commander Fox tennis shoes that are already too small.  I can be convinced to wear my slip on croc like tennis shoes but then you better pray that I don't get sand, dirt or sweat on my feet because I will go monkey mode.  Seriously!  I'm ready for some good frog hunting, swim parties, and a trip to Nana and Pappy's in the next few weeks.  Don't worry, I will keep you posted on all my adventures.

Davis

4 Years Old!

I had my Nerf Gun party the day before my real birthday! It was so fun.
My brother and I were geared up and ready to go!
We had lots of shooting games.  There was target practice.  (Mom says, props to Pinterest for all the great party ideas!)
You could shoot army men.  They go pretty far when hit with a nerf bullet.
You could should cans.  Cans are a little heavier so they don't go as far, or fall as easily!  Aren't those pretty cans? We spray painted them and decorated them with stickers! Fancy cans (again, thanks Pinterest)!
Everyone at my party got to decorate an ammo bag, put on eye blacks and load up with foam bullets!
I'm totally ready to go here.
Mom and Dad set up a "war course" on the driveway.  There were lots of places to hide and reload but lots of open space for shooting.
Even Dominos helped with the party planning.  Yep, my pizza had a bullseye!
 Yummy!
Here is my super cool cake.  It was so good and exactly like I wanted it to be.  Those bullets are actually made out of icing.  Super sweet, kind of inedible sweet.
I'm so happy! Can't tell you my wish though. It won't come true.
It was a friendly war.  Girls, boys, parents.  So much fun.
Star Wars! I got lots of good Star Wars loot, some super cool legos, Wii games, a DS3D and so many other cool things.  I'm playing with all of my new toys everyday!  Thanks everyone for a great 4 year old birthday party.  Long live Nerf!

Hi friends,

You read it right.  I am almost 4.  One month away.  I don't quite understand the concept of a month but I like saying it rather than 4 weeks or 21 days.  I'm really changing this month.  My disposition is all around better.  I'm channeling my energy to become a comedian.  I like to trick you with "made you look" jokes.  I also like to tickle you and scare you if the time is right.  I know all of my letters now and lots and lots of my numbers.  I catch on while Luke is working on his sight words.  I bet I will be reading sooner rather than later. I certainly pick out lots of books when I go to storytime at the library.  I have my own library card and can check out up to 25 books at a time.  The most I've taken so far is 14 (for myself).  I like bedtime even more now than I have before.  Everytime I get ready for bed Daddy and I fight for who gets to lay on the "kids side" of the bed.  I even ask mom and Luke to protect the kids side for me while I'm brushing my teeth before bed.  If Daddy gets there first I have to fight for him to move out of my way!  I've become quite the gamer.  I LOVE to play Wii Pirates of the Caribbean (Lego version).  Mom and Dad don't let me play that long but sometimes, when no one is paying attention I sneak upstairs and play for a while.  At Luke's tball games I am allowed to go to the concession stands by myself and order up a popsicle or sprite.  Not every 3 year old is that responsible, right? I still practice my Ninja moves whenever I can.  I even practice with Mimi.  Poor Mimi.  I am excited for my 4 year old birthday party. If you are looking to get me a gift I have requested 13 Nintendo DS's (because I don't quite understand that you only need one, with lots of different game cartridges).
Talk soon,

Davis 46 Months

Holy moly, what a month.  We went to another musical, Riverdance.  I only slept a little bit this time.  And I really liked the music and dancing.  We also went to a fundraiser at the St. Arnold's brewery.  That was cool.  We got to see the original Star Wars movie (episode 4) rereleased in 3-D.  I'm not sure what the hype was all about.  I told everyone it was just the same movie as the one I've seen 100 times before! We had a crawfish boil this month and I decided I'm not a very big crawfish eater.  We also made heart shaped crayon valentines for our classmates this month.  We got to peel and break all of our old crayons.  So fun.  This month, I've gotten in trouble less but that is because I have this pesky ghost that follows be around and gets in trouble for me.  He's always punching me in the face (and I make a funny sound effect when it happens).  The ghost also says lots of bad words.  Daddy has to put the ghost in the pantry during dinner just so we can have peace! I also went skiing for the first time this month.  I LOVED it.  But what I really enjoyed most was playing and eating in the snow.  Mommy and Daddy thought I would get used to it or even tired of the snow after the first few days but I was messing with it as we walked into the Steamboat airport to go home! I can't wait to ski again.  I'm looking forward to a relaxing Spring Break and some warmer weather.

Davis- 45 Months

This has been a great start to 2012! I've been loving the second semester of school and getting to play outside in all this mild weather we've had.  We've been partying and celebrating lots.  First we went to our friend Travis' bday party at Skyzone which is a super awesome indoor trampoline park. We want a trampoline park at our house now!  We also went to see the Addams Family musical at the Hobby Center.  It was my first musical.  I enjoyed it and the long nap I took during the first act.  I finally got to meet my cousin Wren this month.  She is so sweet and I wanted to hold her every chance I could.  Tia was pretty nice and let me get a few good cuddle sessions in with her.  I watched the entire Super Bowl and loved seeing the halftime show but I missed Black Eyed Peas and Slash.  I think last year's show was better.   I'm doing much better with my anger issues and fits.  I'm eating great and working on good manners.  I am building up my artistic talent and like trying to draw pictures like Luke does.  I'm learning my letters on sight and by sound.  I love listening to music, especially Kids Bop 20 and 21.  I've been making lots of jokes lately.  I enjoy making people laugh.

Davis -44 Months

Hi pals,

It's me, Davis.  I had a fabulous Christmas and New Year's Eve.  I even ate black eyed peas and got some awesome luck. I found a quarter right after.  Buddy said, "That's fortuitous."  I said, "No Buddy, it is for one of us, Me!"  I'm full of sayings like that lately.  I'm also likely to throw out a few words I shouldn't too.  I was happy to go back to school to see my teachers and my friends but some mornings I insist that I have quit school.  I love to play with all my new beyblade toys.  I'm also obsessed with the Power Rangers and even like to play a Power Rangers app on Mommy's phone. I am still loyal to the Star Wars toys and often play with them quietly by myself, seriously.    I've been sleeping until the green light comes on my alarm clock.  That is awesome news for Mommy and Daddy too. I'm looking forward to signing up for t-ball this Spring and I'm hoping to get to do one other activity too.  In the meantime, I love going to story time at the library every Wednesday and checking out lots of books. I'm hoping to meet my new cousins soon too!  I hope you all enjoy the month!

Davis - 43 Months

Hi all,

What a busy and fun month we have had.  I've been on my first plane ride, visited Florida, enjoyed Thanksgiving, sang in a school program, had a new cousin born (greetings Matthew Thomas) [technically Wren is also now born but she will have to be discussed in my 44 month update b/c that is when she was born], and decorated for Christmas at our house and at Mimi's house. I've had a good time watching football and reporting the scores to Mommy and Daddy.  I also like watching lots of big boy shows if Mom and Dad will let me, like, Beyblade, Power Rangers and sometimes even Pokemon.  No worries, I still like my sweet little boy shows too but I have to pick and choose because I can't watch TV all day no matter how much I beg.  Did you guys know that 3 year olds can talk back? Mommy did not know that but I've been setting her straight.  Consequently, she is now setting me straight.  I'm working on manners and not talking back.  It is tough but I'm giving it a try! I have picked up my Lego passion again and that is really all that I am asking for for Christmas this year.    I just keep telling everyone that I want LOTS of Legos.  Hope I get them.  I had a good report at the dentist again this visit.  So, I got to put my name in the No Cavity Club drawing.  I'm still the best person in our family at managing the Smurf game on the iPad and I am pretty good at all the other apps too.  I still wake up wondering about my hair and trying to brush it but as you can see above, I can let loose a little more than last month.  Have no fear, I promptly fixed this bed head after the picture was taken.

 Talk again soon,

D

Hi guys!

Happy Fall. I'm loving this cooler weather. We are playing outside almost every single day. Yay! We like making our fort into the Ultimate Tree House and booby trapping the rabbits cage or the playroom upstairs. Up above I'm posing at Mimi's' birthday party. They had a photo booth concept set up and I dominated it. I loved posing but I also liked helping people pick out their props and taking their pictures! I have loved watching baseball season wrap up. I'm sad the Rangers lost but I'm now an expert at announcing the count and telling you what inning the games is in. I also really like doing "conculations" on my mom's calculator or phone. I'm still a huge fan of that phone and the iTouch and iPad. We love the Smurf game on the iPad. My soccer season ended and I'm trying to decide what to do next season...soccer, karate or gymnastics. Any suggestions? I have been saying lots of funny adult like things lately and when I have to think about something I cup my hand around my chin to show that I'm really thinking. Just last week, when I walked into a room I said "This did not JUST happen!" Who knows where I come up with this stuff. At school everything is going so well. I'm practicing for the Christmas program. I actually get to be involved this year. I will let you know how it goes!
Love,
Davis

Hi!

We are late on my update for this month! That's because we are so busy. So busy! We have been doing school twice a week, story time on Wednesdays, soccer on Mondays for me and lots of stuff for Luke too. I am pretty good at soccer. It's nice to have a big brother to watch and learn from! Speaking of, as Luke learns to count to high numbers and by 5s and 10s I am also learning. I even call out numbers on street signs to make sure Mommy knows the speed limit. I am making strides on my rewards chart. If I sleep in my bed all night, pick up my cup in the morning, and go potty without crying then I get stickers. If I fill my chart I will get a blaster gun! I'm not in a big rush though. I don't want Mom and Dad to get so spoiled. I love playing Ipad with Daddy every night when he gets home from work. We have an awesome Smurf Village going. I got to go dove hunting with Dad. It was my first time. I got to check out a dead bird and check out hunting safety. It has been so dry and hot around here we haven't seen many birds since. Maybe next season. I'm planning on being Commander Fox for Halloween. Mom ordered our costumes. Can't wait.

Davis

PS- I'm not scared of anything Halloween because I'm Davis Byman. (that's a quote).

40 Months Old

Hi all,

I'm 40 months old (about 3.25 years old!) I've been sweating out the end of summer and I am ready for some cool weather. It is so hot we can rarely go outside to play during the day unless it is to the pool. One night, Daddy did let us play some baseball and we had a blast. I can't wait to be old enough for tball! I've been sleeping a little later these days and even slept later than Luke 2 times in the last few weeks. That has NEVER happened before. I am obsessed with my hair. I need to brush and style it as soon as I wake up, change my clothes, or move my head. I'm always asking if my hair looks ok! We just got back from a week away at Nana and Pappy's house. I handled the trip so well. I didn't cry when Daddy and Mommy dropped us off or when they would call during the week. We had such a good time while we were there too. We went to Chuck E Cheese (twice), an indoor play place, we swam at Aunt Sallys, and made a few trips to get some new toys. I have had such a busy summer that for the last week, I've just been hanging out. I am enjoying playing with my Star Wars guys and with the tinker toys. I like to have my rest time but not too much rest time! I'm looking forward to my 3 year old class starting.

Talk soon,
Davis

Hi all,

Wow, what a summer. I have had such a great time. We have been so busy and having so much fun. In the past month we went to Great Wolf Lodge and Galveston. We have been swimming at Mimi's and had a sleep over there. We have played at playgrounds, been to jump castles, hung out at the community pool and caught up with lots of friends. All the big kids are going back to school but we still have some time to enjoy the heat. We have had some serious heat and drought in South Texas this year. It is not strange for the temps to be over 105 degrees. HOT. We have been doing some organizing and getting rid of things so we have a fresh start for the school year. I'm enjoying some mandatory rest time upstairs every day after lunch time. My swimming is outstanding now. I'm a real fish. I'm branching out from my normal books and reading some new subjects...rhymes, Splat, Scooby Doo and Spoon. I'm enjoying the variety. I have been listening to Mommy's ipod (but not as much as luke). I still love listening to my VBS CD. It rocks. My next update won't be far off. We are hoping to catch up soon. Stay tuned.

Howdy,

We have had such a busy month. Camps, traveling, national holiday! I've been hanging out with my friends and neighbors and getting good family time too. It is hot and dry this summer so we have been swimming LOTS. I've really improved. I can swim across pools and hold my breath for hours. I did give everyone a scare while dog paddling the other day and Daddy had to get in the pool with his boots and jeans on. All was good though. I like to jump into the water, collect dive sticks and even practice back flips. Really! While I have taken a little break from star wars my obsession is back in full force. I'm quoting lines, humming the theme music, and reenacting scenes all the time. I'm also always equipped with at least one light saber. You don't want to be caught unprepared! I'm still pretty opinionated and strong willed. And I do not go easy on Luke. We spar often and I'm normally the winner of those matches even though Daddy has given Luke permission to hit back! I still prefer sleeping in Mom and Dad's bed but now I creep downstairs quietly with hopes they will not hear me. I'm successful most nights. I guess they are too tired to notice. I'm really enjoying having my cousin Veronica stay at our house this summer while she babysits our neighbors. She makes me cinnamon rolls in the morning and lets me rest in the afternoons while she watches kids shows. She has even let me go babysit with her a time or two. I think I will like babysitting one day too. Looking forward to a few more weeks of a fun summer. Talk soon.

Hi! I'm officially 3.08 years old. I am pretty much the same as last month: feisty, talkative, and occasionally cuddly. In the pic above I am fishing with the custom rod Daddy made for me. It is orange. Orange is my favorite color. It even has an orange reel. Really, it is awesome. I like to think of myself as quite the jokester and frequently ask Mommy, "Is this funny?" and follow it with some nonsense, funny face or noise. I still like to pick fights with my brother and come down stairs in the wee hours of the morning. I'm not much for breakfast anymore either but I love lunch, dinner, snacks and dessert. There is little I will not eat including tuna fish and brussell sprouts. I especially like apples right now. I am excited I get to go to some of the summer camps with Luke this year. Can't wait for those or the many short road trips we are planning to take. I've had very few potty training accidents this month and think I'm just about done with pull ups at night. I still like all of my Star Wars stuff but I am also mildly interested in Pokemon thanks to our neighbor and friend Travis who really digs it. My life would be complete if we could just combine the two worlds together. Pikachu vs. Chewbacca, it would be epic!

Peace and chicken grease,
Davis

36 Months (3 years old for all the math geniuses)

So I hit the big 03 this year. As you can see below we celebrated with a super Jedi party. I'm still big on Star Wars and got lots of related gifts for my party including some super awesome pop up books and lots of light sabers.I weigh 39 lbs and I am 37.5 inches tall. I am totally potty trained. No real accidents but I am still working on my aim. I'm still pretty fiesty at age 3. But it is not the whining, crying fiesty. It is the sneaky, punch you in the face kind of fiesty. I'm just testing boundaries but I am getting in trouble a lot too. That said, I'm very sweet most of the time. I have an adorable voice that I use when I am trying to get something that I want (like dessert or quarantined light sabers). I still love to read my Bibles but I alternate them with lots of other cool books. Funny story: when I was opening my bday presents I got a bookmark from Sue Sue and Tim. I called it a Bible Card! I like playing with all the Star Wars figurines that we have and the lego sets. I can come up with endless missions for all the guys. I've starting coming up with nicknames for people and Mom and Dad are coming up with lots of nicknames for me, like D, Davis on a Stick, and Dave. My swimming is really improving. I'm ready for the pool to really warm up so I can get some quality practice. I like singing so much and I'm even learnign all the songs for Luke's preschool graduation. I still love wrestling with Dad and Luke and cuddling with Mom. So far, I think being 3 is pretty cool. I will keep you posted if anything changes.
Love,
D

Davis-35 Months

Ok internet, while it is not official I am pretty much potty trained. I am rewarded for number 2's with matchbox cars and a day without accidents is rewarded with ice cream. So far, I have a lot of cars and have had a lot of ice cream. I'm even accident free at school so far. I'm super stoked that I have a birthday coming up. I love talking to mom and dad about all the cool (and super far fetched) things I want at my party. I'm still taking my swim lessons. I love them and I am doing lots of things on my own like floating and gliding. I can't wait to play outside everyday. I like to ride, play with my light sabers and chase all the big kids around. I like taking pictures and making videos on Mommy's phone. I like learning new songs at school and then singing them to Daddy when he gets home from work. I like taking bubble baths now and don't even mind being clean. I still don't sleep great but I love reading books before bed, especially my bible stories. I can't wait for my party next month. Force be with you, DMB

Davis-- 34 Months

Wow, I cannot wait to drive. I almost started Mommy's car the other day. But on to less terrifying topics. I've been good, for the most part but when I'm bad, I'm really bad. My latest bad trick is to exclaim wildly that I do not have legs and that I cannot move, eat or make sense because I do not have legs. All of this is normally screamed while I am clearly standing up on my two solid, stable legs. I did say I'm good too. I am super sweet to my baby cousin Mary. I make a cute face to Mommy and Daddy when I am trying to get my way. I am using my manners when I remember. I am eating great, even mushrooms. I am singing lots of songs. Playing with light sabers, watching Episodes 1, 4, 5, and 6 of Star Wars. I quote from the movies and try to reenact them with Luke at night. I read my children's bible every single night. I read it to myself sometimes too. That will melt your heart....or so I have heard. I still sleep most of the night in my room and then go down to visit mom and dad really early. I sleep with my pals Ducky and Tiger but I could probably sleep without them too. I have enjoyed finally getting to go to church, real church, not the nursery. I really listen to the priests and exclaim wildly when I recognize the names or the stories. I did not really care for the ashes on Ash Wednesday but since then I have asked where the ashes are every time I get a communion blessing. I am loving my swim lessons. I did great in my two week swim camp and now I am trying to perfect my back float so I can be promoted from a goldfish to a dolphin. But I am ok being a goldfish for a while. I also like imitating Luke's gymnastics. I can do a forward roll sometimes and a table top. I love playing with all the neighbor kids. We play hide and seek, battle, basketball and race. We have the best neighbors. I really think I am as big as they are and no one really tells me otherwise (except Luke). Mommy is hoping to report on successful potty training next month...I'll see about that.
