The Corrosive Challenge #217 - Splash of Color
Hey there! I'm back with a new Corrosive Challenge! We are thrilled to welcome back a long time and favorite sponsor, Sassy Studio Designs! Lindsay has shared two of her newest images with the team and she is generously offering a prize of 4 digis to our winner!
Our theme was chosen by DT member Debbie Miller. She is our hostess this fortnight and she opted for "Splash of Color" as our challenge. This means your creation should be white on white with just a splash of color. When coloring your images, hair and skin tones are allowed as well.
I selected Capricorn Portrait for my card. She is colored with Copics and cut using the Fleur de Lis Squares from Spellbinders. Because the card base had to be white I wanted to add lots of texture. I embossed one of my base panels with a Darice Basketweave folder then added two punched borders (from Martha Stewart). I also punched out a sand dollar and some branches from Ms, Martha. The flourish is a Magnolia Doohickey die and the Wrought Iron Fence I used as a topper is from La-La-Lad Crafts. I popped on a few pearls (even giving her a lovely headpiece) and one blue flower to match my splash of color on her fishy tail. Sketch is Ike's World (#30). I sort of turned it upside down on its head, but I think you can still recognize it!
That is all from me today! I am hoping to take it easy... sleep in, read, craft, watch some TV. I know there's that little thing called the Super Bowl on tonight and that the rest of New England will be watching, but I just can't get excited about football. If you're like me and you'd rather create than watch the big game, join us over at The Corrosive Challenge! There are stunning projects from the team just waiting to inpsire you!
Copics used: E00, E04, E11, E21, E35, E53, E55, E57, E59, R20, N0, N2, BG10, BG72, BG75

The Corrosive Challenge #123 - Red and White

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!!! That means it's time for another Corrosive Challenge! This week for challenge #123 we want to see Red and White creations. You are allowed to use one other neutral color, but the main colors of your project need to be red and white. It's the first challenge of a new month so we have new sponsors and new prizes! We'd like to welcome our TWO sponsors for July - Tiddly Inks and Whimsie Doodles! To see what fabulous prizes are up for grabs and to ogle the rest of the design team's wonderful cards, visit the Corrosive Challenge blog here.
Mine is a birthday card for a very special friend of mine, J! She is as fun and as sweet as they come and much to my delight she took an interest and a liking to my beloved hobby. She is innately artistic so has just flourished with the craft! Her card had to be unique and fabulous, just like her, so I selected one of the Sweet November Zodiac images that I purchased some time ago and had yet to use. (Actually, I won this image in rubber along with a gorgeous card from the wonderful Amy Y when they were first released, but I bought the digi too since I tend to use them more.) This image is, of course, Cancer - the zodiac sign for those born between June 22nd and July 22nd. I thought that would work nicely with the red and white color scheme. I used one piece of designer paper from a pad purchased for $5 at Big Lots. I never would have thought to shop there for crafting supplies, but J shared her bargain finds with me and sent me scurrying for deals of my own! The pearl swirls are also from the same store. Some Prima flowers and a Die-namic from My Favorite Things finish it off nicely. The sketch is SSS115, courtesy of The Sweet Stop.
We are in the middle of 4th of July weekend here so I will be heading off to a cookout at a friend's later on today. They are predicting possible thunderstorms, but I hope they are wrong as she has a pool, and I can't wait to take my small man "swimming". He's not yet 2, but if he's anything like his momma he'll be the kid always in the pool whenever he has the chance!
Wishing you all a fun and safe weekend! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop back throughout the week to see what else I've been up to...
