Polka Dots and Lace

I make a lot of "cute" cards so I am working on my more classic or elegant style.  I started with a piece of polka dot paper as my background.  On top is the Cheery Lynn Designns Japanese Oval die.  Inside is a some scripture from Psalms 48:14. The scripture stamp is from Our Daily Bread Designs.  Lastly I created a flower with a leaf spray using the same color as the dots, ink and the die.

This card was made for the challenge "Scripture" being held at Our Daily Bread Designs.

Another White on White

I realized recently that I really needed to learn how to make handmade flowers that I really am proud of.  Therefore, last night I was deterined to made a decent-looking flower.  So I sat down and said  "I am going to make a flower that I really like."  Well I punched, cut twisted and glued   Below is the FIRST one I tried and I really like the way it turned out.  It is not perfect, but as the first one, I am really pleased.  Now I've got to work on perfection and speed.

I made a second white on white card again for the Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge with that theme.  I love the CLD dies.  This card has the Polynesian Sail Oval die and to the side I place my precious flower,  I needed some folliage so I used the inside pieces that you get from the Japanese Garden die.  As additional embellishment I placed two small butterflies.

I usually buy my CLD from Beverly at Classy Cards and Such.  She carries all the CLD dies and much, much more.  There are stamps, cardstock, the Bow Easy, as well as the dies and she is so fast in shipping her orders!  She is having a challenge of Homemade Flowers (CCNS # 12),  Well, this card definitely fits the theme.

Drop in at both the Cheery Lynn Designs and Classy Cards and Such site.  I am sure you will be addicted like I am to both of these sites..

Silver and Gold Sympathy Card

As leader of my card group at church, I make numerous sick and sympathy cards.  Here is a white card adorned with silver and gold.  I don't know why the scanner picked up some blue as it is heavy silver cardstock that a friend gave me.  It is a very bright silver.  The mat is gold cardstock on which I stamped a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs.  On top of that I use a Cheery Lynn Designs die called Polynesian Sails. This was cut out of silver. In order to join the Classy Cards and Such I needed a handmade flower. I do not really have anything to make the pretty roses yet (that is on my Wish List) so I took the center of the Polynesian die and cut it down to size. Then I used a punch and made some petals out of gold. The center is a brad with a stone.  This is a flat flower and hopefully will not cost additional postage.

This card is for the Cheery Lynn Designs' challenge of Silver and Gold and for Classy Cards and Such's challenge CCNS #12 Handmade Flowers.

More Flowers

I am still into flowers.  Here is a Flower Art Card with a collage of stamps from Scrolls Work.  All stamps have the Alice in Wonderland theme.  The edges are distressed and most of the stamps are stamped in cranberry colored ink.  The collage was placed on a piece of designer paper and in various areas I used sequin waste as a stencil and there are hearts outlined to emphasize the "queen".  In the top left corner is a handmade flower.

A "Geek" Flower

While working on my entries for the Gingersnap Creations Flower Art Swap, I decided to make one of mine a "Geek" flower.  I don't have many stamps with any particular theme with the exception of my Artistic Outpost stamps.  This flower is also my entry Ink on My Fingers Blog Candy Challenge.

I began by distress-ing the edges of the flower with a mustard colored ink from Stampin' Up.  After that, I gave the background a little intetest by dabbing yellow, orange, and light red ink through sequin waste.  The stamped images were stamped with Stampin' Up's pumpkin pie ink.

Since this was a geek flower I just had to put on a piece of a transistor, the trademark of a geek. This was out of one of those cell phones we had been hording for the past 15 years.  At least I will be getting rid of that much!

The next flower I add to the bouquet will be  a more conventional one.

Another Flower Added to the Bouquet

This time the flower is a Flower Art Card.  All stamps are in the SteamPunk set by Artistic Outpost  The scan does not show the light green/grey decorator cardstock.  It was distressed with two colors of Distress Ink by Tim Holtz.  The gear mask was also Tim Holtz.  Attached are a piece of old book page and a old washer along with the words "Sentimental Journey".

A Bouquet of Flowers

Let's Make a Tag--
For my bouquet of flowers I am starting with a tag.  This is the first time I have tried making this type of flower.  I started with  a piece of double-sided cardstock, one of the Nestabilities,  a Cuttlebug embossing folder, distressing ink and topped it all with a pearl button.  The buckle is one that came off a pair of sandals that I threw away today.  The paper lace is some that I have had for years and kept thinking that I ought to throw away.  This is my tag entry for the Tag Tuesday sketch and my handmade flower entry for Cupcake Craft.
