There are many great memories that I have of Mema and the times we spent together. We would always get to stay with Mema in Houston for a week or two during the summer and there were many great trips taken in the motor home. Here are some more of my wonderful memories of my Mema:
- Mema always had bubble gum for us even though she would only chew 'chewing' gum.
- Mema would let us wear just a little bit of lipstick!
- When Mema came to visit she would want to watch her program - Murder She Wrote.
- Astros games - Mema had season tickets and we each got a turn to go with her to a game. We felt so special when it was our turn to go.
- The shopping sprees - Mema loved to take us shopping for school clothes. We were way spoiled.
- Accessories - Mema had jewelry, shoes, a hat, etc. for every outfit.
- Swim meets - When we stayed with Mema we went to our cousins' swim meets. We would get to pick out one of Mema's hats to wear.
- If Mema stayed with us during the winter, my dad would always turn the couch around to face the fireplace at night so she could stay warm by the fire.
- Mema's favorite meal that my dad made was BBQ chicken. There was nothing left on the bone when she was through with it!
- I will never go to a public bathroom with out thinking of Mema. I know that sounds weird, but she did teach us to always put toilet paper down on the seat first.
I miss her so much. I miss her smile and her humor. She loved babies and I am so glad that she was able to meet mine. Even though she did not remember us, she was so happy when we went to visit her and brought the kids with us. Seeing her light up made the trips a little bit easier for us. Now she is in heaven and she does remember us! She is the Mema I will always remember once again.
I love you Mema.

That is so sweet and those are precious memories! Thanks for sharing. My Gram had Alzheimer's too, and I know how that can hurt.
