Unexpected Visit

In February my MOM CAME TO OHIO!  It was WONDERFUL!  It was on a normal Friday; Derrick and I had planned on going to the Mandiball that the school puts on each year (It is a formal dance for all of the dental students; the mandible is the lower jaw, so that is what it is named after...very cool haha), and I was getting ready to go when Derrick called to tell me he was on his way home.  Iva and I were going to go on a walk with Trinette, who is in my ward and her little boy, Thatcher, but Derrick said we probably wouldn't have time, that I should just keep getting ready.  He came home and right after someone knocked on the door, and SURPRISE!  It was my mom!  I was SO shocked!  I seriously started screaming so much that I scared Iva and she started to cry.  Needless to say, we did not go to the Mandiball.  We ended up going to dinner with my mom instead.  We went to a Mexican restaurant that we like to go to.  On Saturday, us girls went out to lunch with a bunch of the dental school wives and then went shopping while Derrick studied for his huge anatomy test he had the next week.  It was so much fun shopping with my mom.  I've missed her so much!  And it was nice to see her and Iva together. My mom has not seen Iva in person since she was 4 months old!

Unfortunately, mom caught the awful stomach bug that had been going around Columbus (the same flu that we all had over Valentine's Day).  Even though I did not know she was coming, I had cleaned and disinfected the whole house, and she still got sick.  We think she either got it from one of our friends (a few of them ended up sick also), or just while out shopping.  So, she did not go to church with us, but we all hung out that night and just relaxed.  Then, I had to take her home Sunday :(  It was a really short trip, but much needed!  I was so glad she could come!

Iva was being so weird after church.  We put her baby doll blanket on her head, and she would walk around like that.

Loving the treat Ama gave her for Valentine's day!
