March Madness Swim Meet

Today was the girls' swim meet at Olympic High School.  They only had two individual events each, but they were their longest ones yet and they did great!  Lauren was snuggling up to Daddy before the meet.
Lauren's first race was the 100 Backstroke and she did great.  She swam her little heart out up and down the pool and really worked on her turns- she got one flip turn down and then bumper her head on the other two, but she didn't get disqualified and has an official time now.
Abbie ready to start her race.  She and Lauren both swam the 100 Freestyle and then Abbie also completed the 50 Breaststroke.
Abbie in the breaststroke- go, Abbie, go!
This was Dallin's first meet watching the girls and he loved cheering for them swim.  What a good little brother,
After the swim meet we celebrated with some yummy treats Coldstone style!

Dr. Seuss Day

Today we had a fun Dr. Seuss playdate after school.  The kiddos each had a friend over and we played some fun games, ate some snacks, did some crafts, and read lots of books.
Some colorful Dr. Seuss snacks- strawberry and banana cat in the hat kabobs and some one fish, two fish goldfish.
We also had some traditional green eggs and ham and some jello and whip cream parfaits. Lots of yummy snacks for these little Seuss readers!
We did a fish bowl craft and painted with shiny blue corn syrup and added some one fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish.
Abbie with her finished fish bowl.
Cutie Cyrus painting away.  It was a fun afternoon!

Family Sock Hop

Tonight we traveled back to the fifties for a Young Women Camp FUNdraiser at church.  We had lots of fun dressing up, eating, and dancing the night away.
Dallin got some gel in his hair before we left, but opted for the Elvis wig when we got there.  What a character!
 Abbie with the Elvis glasses.
Our amazing diner waitress, Laynie.  We had yummy hamburger sliders, nachos, hot dogs, fries, root beer floats- pretty much the works between our little fam!
Lauren with our favorite Pink Lady, Sue!
I had fun dancing the Hokey-Pokey with some cute primary kiddos.  Aubrey did a great job.
There was also a huge dessert bar and auction- we were victorious in our Caramel Apple Pie win! But check out this adorable little treat- a hamburger and fries miniature style.  The bun is actually a vanilla wafer.

A few line dances with the young women as our evening ended.  We are blessed with some amazing girls in our ward!
Me and my hound-dog hubby.  Have mercy!

Sewing a Pillow

Today Lauren and I spent the afternoon working on a sewing project.  She got to pick out several patterns at the fabric store with Grandma and one of them had different pillow designs.  She shopped my closet for some fabric and we got started with the bird and tree pillow.  Lauren really wanted to finish it today, but we were technically short a few supplies- fusible interfacing and a pillow form, but she made the best of it and used some fabric glue and poly-fill batting. This was her first time getting to use the iron by herself as well.
The appliques were a little tricky without the interfacing and her machine's zig-zag stitch wasn't very tight, but she kept at it and I think it looks charming.  She also worked hard at sewing all of those ruffle pieces together.
All finished with the pillow and holding it with her pattern- way to go, Lauren!
The completed project.  Lauren is so generous and wanted to deliver this to her neighbor friend right away.  So we took our pictures, and Lauren shared her creation with her friend, Lily.  She is a sweetie and I'm glad she can use her sewing to brighten other people's day.

Birthday Outing

We had a fun evening celebrating my birthday as a family.  We went out to a delcicious dinner at Fujiyamas and then went to Barnes and Noble where we each chose out a new book.  Here's me and the kiddos at Fujiyamas ready to eat some yummy food.
 Dallin loving his soup.
The kids loved the fire and the food being cooked right in front of us.
 Watching the food get prepared.
More fire! Our chef was very gracious and did several big fires for the kids.
I was so stuffed from dinner, but the kiddos helped me eat the birthday treat.
 My new book!

Lillian's Baby Shower

Today we had a baby shower for little Miss Lillian and her momma, Lesley at my house. Lillian was only four pounds when she was born, but look at her now! She is doing great and is adorable as can be and Lesley is doing great too.
The proud grandma with the little lady. This was the easiest shower I've ever hosted- Grandma took care of almost everything! She was so sweet and it was actually refreshing not planning every little thing.  We did have a fun game I led, though!
 Present time!
Lots of cute girlie things.  We love you, Lillian- welcome to the world!
