Birthday boy

I can't believe this little boy is 6 years old today. I remember the day he was born. I remember the nurses and doctors wheeling him by me in an incubator towards the NICU. All the days I spent in the NICU visiting him. The day he came home. The first time he laughed after I had sang I am in the Lord's army with all the movements. The first time he crawled. The first time he said my name with that big grin of his. And the first time I opened my front door and he was walking towards me all by himself with his walker. I can't believe how time flies. He's not even mine and I am so sad that he is already six. He's growing up so quickly! Happy birthday sweet boy. Your Uncle Jason and Aunt Elizabeth love you!!!

Wes from the Bachelorette

So I have been an avid watcher of The Bachelorette this season. Jillian was one of my favorites on The Bachelor with Jason (grr!) and so I had to watch it.  I know I have voiced to my friends how much I have not liked one of the guys a.k.a Wes on the show because he said  he was there for his music and that he had a girlfriend back home. Well, I may have to recant all the horrible things I said about him. I found this website called Reality Steve, and he did an interview with Wes after he was eliminated from the show. Reality Steve was also the guy that knew last year that Jason was going to dump Melissa and get back together with Molly before the show even aired. I listened to this interview and now I'm totally confused as to what to believe. Is the Bachelorette even real? Would they really edit out parts of conversations and take answers to completely different questions to make a character for ratings? If that is what it is, I don't know if I want to watch it anymore. For those interested here is the link to the interview  http://realitysteve.com/podcasts/wesinterview.mp3. It is an hour and 20 minutes long( just warning you), but it is good information. Maybe you will change your mind about Wes or maybe you won't but at least you can hear his side of the story.

Last but not least

I forgot to put these pics up several weeks ago..oops. Over Father's Day weekend, Jason and I went down to Houston to visit our niece, Karis, and all of Jason's family. Karis has grown so much in the past few months since we saw her last. She is almost crawling and rolls all over the place. She is so cute!!

Out for a little bit of shopping!

If Karis could talk I think she would say "You look an awful lot like my daddy, but you're not"

All in all, it was great weekend filled with good times with family. I'm so lucky to have great in-laws and hope to be able to see them all again soon!

Happy Fourth of July!!

Happy Fourth of July!!  I LOVE MY COUNTRY! I know that we are going through a lot with the economy and are hurting so much, but I think our country is amazing.  Whether or not you agree with what the government is doing or not doing, or how you don't like or like the president, I'm thankful that we live in a country where we can express our views and not be jailed or even worse -killed- for our opinions. I have traveled to many places outside the U.S. and we have it so much better than many people in the world. Our freedom is something that I am truly thankful for and I know that it has come at a cost.

Thank you to all the men and women out there who have fought for our country to preserve our freedom. Who have stood up with pride and fought against the evils of this world (i.e. slavery, Hitler, communism, and the Taliban) to not only preserve our rights and freedom but also give freedom to others. Thank you. Words cannot express enough of my gratitude.

So no matter what you may think of our government, take a moment today to thank God that you live in this country. And remember it's up to us as citizens to make our country the way we want it to be...not the government. That's what makes our country great. I'm proud to be an American. Are you?
