Four Years Ago

Last night Jason and I went to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate the night that Jason proposed to me. Four years ago from yesterday, Jason took me out to eat at Cheesecake Factory with some of his friends and then we all walked over to the waterwall near the Galleria in Houston to take pictures. Jason surprised me and proposed there and of course I said yes!! Plus, I have pictures while he was proposing! We now go every year to Cheesecake Factory to celebrate the event - not exactly the same one, but it's still fun!!

Yummy mojito!!!

Last night

Four years ago..it's amazing how much you change in that short amount of time!

Christmas 2010

I can't believe Christmas has come and gone already. I am sad to see this season go - it really is my favorite time of year. Before we left town to go visit family, we opened gifts from my parents that they had brought to us on a trip into town.

Lucye tried to get in the picture with us in front of the Christmas tree

Our new stockings plus stockings for our future children as well..yay!
New jeans for Jason

We got some other awesome things but I forgot to get pics of them =/. We spent Christmas with Jason's mom's side of the family and we had a great time. There was lots of eating, lots of talking, and lots of laughing. So much fun was had that I forgot to take pics except for the little ones opening Christmas gifts!
They both got huge cloth fairy tale books and they kept lying on them and saying "night, night". It was so cute.

Braden enjoyed the train set that we got him
I'm pretty sure that Karis liked the clothes we got her but she was really enjoying sitting in the box that the clothes came in a lot more =)

I did get a picture of the new painting my in-laws got us for Christmas. I love it. I'm excited to put on our mantle in a our new apartment. Just a few more weeks!

It was so much fun to spend time with family on Christmas. But more importantly it was wonderful to remember and celebrate the real reason for Christmas - that God sent his son into this world to die for our sins once and for all - to give us hope in a world full of despair. I am so thankful for that gift. Merry Christmas!

"Wild" Night

So Jason and I woke up in the middle of the night to go and see the lunar eclipse. We live on the "wild" side. I mean we never do anything past midnight because we are both tired by 9:00 (where did my college body go?) I'm amazed that I even heard my alarm let alone jump up ready to go like it was Christmas morning. Even Jason was fairly awake. We went outside around 1:30 to look up in the sky at the moon or lack thereof. It was very pretty and cool. I was going to take pictures of the awesome event and document that we were actually up that late BUT as I tried to take pics I realized that my camera's battery was dead and would not allow me to take pics at all.

EPIC FAIL!!

Oh well. It was fun and my mental picture of it will have to work =/.

One month

One month ago today, our lives were changed forever.

One month ago today, Jason and I lost our baby we had loved for 12 weeks from the time I had found out I was pregnant.

One month ago today, the sorrow we felt was indescribable.

One month ago today, God was good and did good.

One month later, we miss our little baby every day

One month later, our sadness is very great but we know that our suffering is for our greater good, and His greater glory.

One month later, God's presence has been very near in our suffering and gives me hope in this time of darkness that still continues.

One month later, our God is GOOD and does good. Even on the bad days, I will rejoice in Him because He has been good to me.

Christmas Tour 2010

I am posting this very late, but today The Nester and Kelly's Korner are hosting a Christmas Tour of Homes. Hop on over to one of their blogs to check out other people's decorating styles. I always like to see other ideas to decorate for next year (and somewhere my husband groans because I have to do more shopping..haha)

I will admit that I am not completely done with decorating for the holidays but you can still see what I have so far.

Nativity scene minus the three wise men

The moose sings We wish you a Merry Christmas and in the background you can see the three wise men. Am I the only one that separates the three wise men from the nativity scene? Am I the only that is anal? Anyone?

The beautiful Christmas tree

Hope you have a MERRY CHRISTMAS and may God bless your new year!

Christmas Favorites: Movies

Every year I look forward to the all the Christmas movies that come on TV (some old, some new) especially the 25 days of Christmas on ABC family. Who knew Harry Potter was Christmas-y but I'll take it. I thought I would share some my all time favorite movies that just make the Christmas season a little more fun.

I absolutely love this movie and would be lying if I said I didn't watch this movie year round. Kate Winslet is one of my favorite actresses and Jack Black is great in this movie. Plus - part of it is set in London - how can you go wrong with that?

I watch this movie every year while I put up my Christmas tree. I absolutely love it.

Santa's coming! I know him! I know him!...I like smiling. Smiling is my favorite. This movie makes me laugh. Every. Single. Time.

This probably isn't a Christmas movie but I count it as one. The scene where she sings Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is one of my favorites.

Classic. Every time the general walks in and sees his old division on Christmas Eve I get a little teary eyed.

What movies put you in the Christmas mood?

Wishful Wednesday

It's December 1st which means I have been thinking of all the things I would love for Christmas if I had no budget = ). As I have been browsing the internet I've stumbled upon these beauties:

Things I love about this: its purple, its huge, its coach, and it would look absolutely beautiful on my shoulder

What's not to love about an Ipad? I could read books on it and it would look lovely in my coach purse.

Because everyone needs rainboots and if you are going to have them, you might as well have some amazing ones from Burberry, right?

I think baking would take on a more heavenly experience if I had one of these.

One day I would love for one of our families to say no presents this year, we are going to New York City. The tree, the ice skating, the broadway, the snow, the today show - New York screams at me daily to come and visit it. Someday New York, someday. And if I had all these things, I could bake some wonderful yummies to take on the trip and then I could wear my wonderful rainboots while carrying my beautiful purse while using my Ipad to look up things to do while in NYC. Yep that would be perfection.

What do you secretly wish for?

ICE!!

We had Thanksgiving at our house this year and while the whole family was here, we decided we would go to the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord. Jason and I have never been and we thought it would be fun to take the whole family. This year the theme was the Peanuts characters. I have always loved them - I mean how could you not love Charlie Brown and the whole gang? We had so much fun and we made great memories with the fam!

Waiting in line to go into the exhibit. Doesn't it look so Christmas-y!?!

All decked out ready to go to ICE!

Getting advice from Lucy!!! She is probably one of my favorites. I especially liked it when she would lean on Shroeder's piano to get him to pay attention to her.

Good ol' Charlie Brown

They had the nativity scene at the very end of the exhibit which I was kind of surprised by but all the same excited

It was a great way to start off the Christmas season. I love the holidays!

I will praise you in this storm

The past two weeks for Jason and me have been some of the hardest weeks we've ever had to face as a married couple. The pain we have had to deal with has been unbearable at times but we know that God is sovereign and that He does good. We know that through this trial that God will bring us through it, and we will come out stronger people together with a better picture of God's mercy and unending love for us. I came across a song the other day that I have heard so many times before but it struck a chord with me once again. I hope that you can listen to this song and if you are going through anything to find comfort in it as I have. God never promised a perfect or fair life but he did promise to never leave us or forsake us. May his name forever be praised!

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. Habukkuk 3:17-19

Shop Training

I don't know why this commercial makes me laugh, but I think it might be because sadly this probably will be me and my family the day after Thanksgiving. We are those people that get up before the sun to go shopping even if we don't need anything specifically. Better wear my good running shoes that morning =)

Technology hates me

I know that I have been gone for a while and I have a good reasons....I won't get in to all of them today but I will tell you about one of them.

Here it goes......

My hard drive crashed.

Yep, and when I mean crashed I mean I LOST EVERYTHING!! I lost all my pictures - including my Spain pictures from 5 years ago. I lost all my address contacts so if you don't get your Christmas card til late or not at all - don't take offense. I lost certain recipes that I hadn't made hard copies for yet - and they were yummy.

It was a sad sad sad day.

And I know they have these things called external hard drives and I'm sure you are saying "Elizabeth, why didn't you back up all your information on of those?" and I will tell you BECAUSE I'M A MORON!! Don't worry I have one of those now but it won't bring me back all the wonderful things that I lost on my old hard drive.

So this is one of the reasons I haven't blogged in awhile. I've been mad at my computer and we had a fallen out. But I'm happy to say that we have reconciled and things are getting back to normal. It's great to be back!

So...

...I haven't blogged in awhile. I don't have an excuse except:
  1. I'm a really bad procrastinator
  2. I've been sucked in by SMUT tv (Bachelor Pad, Keeping Up with the Kardashians etc)
  3. I like to cuddle with my dog Lucye when I get home
  4. I've been tired
In other news, this is my 100th blogpost. GO ME! Who knew I would actually keep up with something that long? I can't wait til I get to my 200th, 300th etc. How many exciting things will happen to me by then?

I'll be back tomorrow to talk about my last two weekends. Whohoo!

Three years

Three years ago from last Wednesday, I was doing this:

And this:

So I could marry this guy:

I married my best friend that day and I am so glad I did. It was the best decision I ever made. I can't imagine picking anyone else to walk through this adventure of life with me. And it keeps getting better....
