5 months!

Dear E,
On Sunday, you turned five months old! How has another month come and gone?! You are getting so big and so fun. I love seeing you learn and grow.

This month you have been into grabbing everything! You know what your hands do and you want to explore with them. You reach for my face all the time while you are breastfeeding. I just take the time to tell you what you are touching: my eyes, my chin, my nose...you reach for it all. You also grab mommy and daddy's faces when we sit and hold you. I love it. You grab toys so well and bang them on the tray on your bebePOD. You love to drop them off the side to and then look at them and try to reach for them again. You have quite a grip! You are reaching for toys while on your tummy and are starting to pull the bows off your head. I knew those days of cooperating with bows weren't going to last - hehe. You also have discovered your feet and play with them all the time.

Tummy time is going great. You are pushing up onto your hands and then will push your self backwards. You are starting to pivot around on your stomach to reach for things too. You rolled from your back to your tummy on January 10! You are a rolling fool now. You haven't gone completely crazy but you roll off the play mat I set you on all the time. I know it's just a matter of time before you are rolling yourself all over the floor and baby proofing will commence. You sit for about 5 or so seconds without help before you fall over and you still love sitting in your bebePOD to play.

Your personality is just shining through! You are a pretty happy baby and love to be out and about. You can be fussy in your carseat in the car and the minute we take you out of the car and you realize we are somewhere new you start looking around and just become so happy! You smile at everybody who talks to you. You LOVE your daddy. I think you are a daddy's girl. You smile the minute he comes in the room, and if you hear his voice you start to look for him. I can't have him in the room when I'm feeding you,  otherwise you want nothing to do with eating! You still LOVE Taylor Swift. It is the one thing that will calm you down in the car. You definitely recognize her voice. Hopefully one day we can go to one of her concerts together. You are laughing so much  - it is one of the sweetest sounds. You also love to "scream". You know you can make your voice loud and you do it often. If you aren't getting attention, you yell louder so we will notice you. You still talk all the time and you have now discovered that putting your lips together and blowing makes spit bubbles. You even have forceful spit bubbles that can get all over the person who is holding you. It's hilarious. You also love the song "My God is so big, so strong and so mighty" and daddy and I sing it to you all the time.

You still love bath time, and you have learned that splashing your legs is really fun. The minute we put you in the bath your legs start kicking away. In the past couple of weeks, you have noticed Lucye and want to reach out and grab her anytime she comes near you. Your grabbing is usually pinching but Lucye is so good and doesn't snap at you. I think that you will be good friends when you get older.

You are down to three naps during the day and go down for bed around 8-8:30. Although you still wake up frequently during the night, we are trying to remedy that. Even with the interrupted sleep, you are still such a happy baby. Your acid reflux has gotten sooo much better and I'm hoping it will soon be a thing of the past. You feed every 3 to 3 1/2 hours during the day with one middle of the night feeding.   It has to be completely quiet with no distractions when I feed you or you are done in 5 minutes.

You are wearing 3-6 months and 6 month clothing. I almost cried when I had to box up your 3 month clothes. You weigh 15 pounds and 10 ounces. You wear size 2 diapers when you wear disposables.

You went to church for the first time this month. You came in the service with us and did really well. I hope you always enjoy church and come to know the One who loves you and gave you to us.

E, you are a joy. We love you sweet girl!

Love,

Mommy and Daddy

Our weekend

Our weekend was fun with just our little family. I really treasure our time together. Saturday morning  Jason brought Starbucks home. Much needed for this sleep deprived momma. We ran some errands and I stopped to pick up some onesies at Carter's for a project I'm doing. We caught up on all our shows during the afternoon and I ran to JoAnn's to get some fabric for my project before we headed to church. E did so good in the service again. I was so proud of her.

The cheetah fabric and the one on the left is for my project - hoping it turns out!

Sunday morning, we had breakfast at one of our favorite breakfast places, Le Peep. Yum! Their food is always good.

E hung out in her car seat for about 5 seconds! Hehe. She likes to be around all the action.
We also spent a lot of time practicing our new skill. E started rolling from her back to her tummy last Thursday. I know it's not going to be long before she figures out that rolling can get her from point A to B. Better start baby proofing soon!

Mid roll...

Sunday night, we watched the Golden Globes! I love watching the award shows this time of year. red was definitely the favorite color among the women this year.

While I watched the Golden Globes, I had some yummy chicken florentine lazy lasagna that I had made in the crockpot. Ya'll this stuff was delicious! Please make some soon!

So glad that Hugh Jackman and  Anne Hatheway won. They were spectacular in Les Miserables. Hopefully they can win Oscars too.

Hope your weekend was great!

Randoms

  • I haven't blogged in awhile. Part is because I'm dealing with a little girl who is struggling with taking naps and part because I feel like my life is boring. Not boring to me but maybe boring to those reading.
  • We finally got to go to church on Sunday for the first time with E. With her schedule and reflux fussiness, we hadn't been able to go until now. E did really well. She fell asleep during the music and slept for most of the service.
  • My 30th birthday is coming up next month and I don't know how I feel about it. It just seems so much older than 29. Sigh...

  • I love this time of year for the award shows. Golden Globes, Oscars, People's Choice - I love them all.
  • E is becoming more fun by the day. I just love her. Taking her picture is getting harder because she can't stay still -ha! This was some pics I took before church on Sunday:

    • Is it weird that this is the first year that I have some excitement for Valentines Day? Don't get me wrong - I like the holiday but with my birthday being right after I always liked celebrating that more. (This does not get you off the hook for Valentine's Day Jason!) I'm just excited to start traditions with E with this holiday. So fun!
    • This week I have put on real clothes once. I have taken a shower every day but have put lounge clothes back on afterwards. You know what? I enjoyed it!
    • I have had lemonade every day this week. It brought back memories of this time last year when lemonade was one of the only things that calmed my all day morning sickness.
    How is your Friday going?

    Long New Year Weekend

    * I took a little bit of a blogging hiatus - whoops. We have been dealing with some sleepless nights over here the past week and the last thing I want to do during the day is stare at a screen. Hoping to get back into the groove of things soon depending on if E decides that she likes to sleep again - say a little prayer will ya =)

We had such a nice fun New Years weekend. Jason had to use up his vacation time by the end of the year so he took off the Friday and Monday of New Years weekend. We had five glorious days as a family, and I was sad that Jason had to go back to work.

On Friday, we went to The Cheesecake Factory for lunch to celebrate our engage-versery. Six years ago, Jason took me to Cheesecake Factory at the Galleria in Houston and then proposed in front of the water wall. So fun! It's something we do every year and little E got to celebrate with us this year. She did pretty good during lunch and then conked out at the very end.

Later that night, we met up with some of my old high school friends for dinner. It was so good to see them. Amy (the one on the far left) lives in Arizona so I don't get to see her very often. It was good to catch up with them, and E behaved herself for the most part in a loud restaurant and even fell asleep.

Saturday, Jason and I went to see Les Miserables! It was SOOO GOOD! I cried and sang (silently) to all the songs. Hugh Jackman better win Best Actor for this movie or I will be so mad. It was great to get away just the two of us. Thanks Brandis for watching E - I know she was in great hands!

Sunday we attempted to go to church but that was a fail so we went grocery shopping instead. It was a lazy day spent at home. Monday, we took E to her 4 month check up. Her official stats were 14 pounds 14 ounces (67%) and 25 1/2 inches (87%). She still has her eczema but it's not bothering her so we just put lotion on it and I'm hoping it will go away soon. I took a little photo shoot before her appointment. She is such a ham.

    And then after the shots:

Those things can wear anyone out. Poor thing!

Sadly, Jason and I did not stay up to watch the ball drop. We had a wake up call a few hours later by a little girl =). But it's ok I rang in the new year during my middle of the night feeding. Ha!  We spent New Years enjoying our last day together before Jason had to go back to work. We went and had lunch at Red Robin and then we went to Academy so Jason could spend one of his gift cards. We then came home and watched Dark Knight Rises. A very relaxing New Years - the way I like it.

I had some of this to ring in 2013. Love this stuff. I could probably drink a whole bottle in one sitting.
