Kindergarten Graduation + a few random notes

* The letter "K" is sticky on my keyboard, so every "K" you see typed in this post is the result of me pounding furiously on my keyboard. I know, I know... first world problems!

* Jack is sick... again. I had a list of things I wanted to accomplish the past two weeks (cleaning, art project with the boys, organizing closets, etc.) but I haven't done a single thing on that list. So not how I wanted to start our summer vacation.

* I have two cards in the upcoming Stamp It! Cards Volume 6 magazine... out June 26th. I cannot wait to receive my issue so I can drool over all the amazing cards (and check out my cards as well!). This is my all time favorite publication and I know this issue is going to be spectacular!

I also wanted to share a couple of pictures from Evan's award ceremony and his last day of Kindergarten. I am so proud of him and his accomplishments this year. He received the top score in his class on his final math exam, is reading well above the required level to graduate Kindergarten, and has made some good friends. I can't thank his teacher, Mrs. Lintner, enough for providing Evan the skills to be successful this year. She is confident, warm, inviting, and yet held the kids to a very high standard that they wanted to meet (and exceed). She is an wonderful teacher and I am so sad to be moving on from her classroom. All the teachers at Evan's school are amazing and I know we will get another fantastic teacher in August! But we will sure miss Mrs. Lintner.

I am sitting on pins and needles waiting for another thunder and lightening storm to roll through. I am not used to the storms yet... they are nothing like storms in Washington! And Rocket makes them more fun by barking every time he hears thunder. Gotta love being a dog owner.

What We Do.

I wanted to record a few of the things we do everyday & why I stay home with the boys:

Evan is sounding congested & stuffed up tonight as he sleeps, so we will see if he makes it to pre-school tomorrow. He hasn't been this sick in a long, long time. I hope he can fight it off before we all get it.

Tomorrow I am going to start a Week In The Life project, on top of finishing my Me: The Abridged Version book, and work on Ali Edwards' Yesterday & Today class. I think I might be taking on too much, but I love being busy, so I'll get it all done eventually. 'Night!

Autumn In Pullman.

Why is it that the days fly by during fall? I can't believe we are into October already. Mark has been in school for 6 weeks already (ten weeks to go!), and Evan has been in pre-school for 5 weeks. Jack turned 5 months lat week, and Evan was exactly 3.5 years old last Tuesday. We are in "school mode" for sure. I love that our days are more structured & we have a great routine. Mark is working hard in his classes and Evan is doing great, too. Our days are so busy, so that is my excuse for not blogging so much.

I wanted to document a little about Jack @ 5 months:

* Jack, you are the happiest little guy I know. You will go to anyone, you smile all the time, and you love to be held.

*You have been asserting yourself vocally lately, which can be both cute & ear-piercing at the same time. When you want to be picked up/moved/rolled over/sat up you usually growl really low (cute) or shriek really loudly (ear-piercing!).

*You are eating less often, but more per feeding. Usually around 7 ounces fills you up. You still don't spit up much, but you drool and chew on everything.

*You and Evan have had a lot of bonding time in the last month, especially since you've been on a great awake/nap/awake/nap/awake/bed schedule. You are so very alert during your awake periods, and Evan is thrilled to entertain you.

*Thank you, Jack, for being such a good baby. For being all smiles when you wake up in the morning, for cooing & giggling when I smile at you, and for being so go-with-the-flow. You are deeply loved.

Yesterday we celebrated Mark's friend Roy's birthday at Taco Del Mar. Mark was teaching Evan how to wink:

Happy Birthday Roy!

Evan also had soccer practice yesterday:

Mark has nick-named him the "Dominator" because of how skilled he is on the field. Is it okay for me to say that I'm really proud of my little guy?!

Fall also means beautiful flowers:

Hot Cocoa:

Chocolate milk in a mug, just like mama's:

Long sleeve shirts & hugs:

And lots & lots of school work & projects:

Have a wonderful week, friends.

Saturday-Wednesday: Our Week in Photos

I just finished uploading all the photos I wanted to post, and now I hear Jack waking up from his nap, so actual commentary will be light:

Evan took this photo of me feeding Jack. He held up the camera with the attached flash, looked through the view finder, and was able to push the correct button. He was so proud of himself!

Love his blue eyes...

Mark was making dinner and had Jack strapped to his back. We didn't realize Jack had fallen asleep! I took the picture then quickly rescued him from this horribly uncomfortable position!

Getting all of Evan's papers out of his cubbie is something we do every time we pick him up from pre-school.

My little buddy in the mornings when Evan is in school.

We got together Sunday with Jayden, Terri, and Rick. These two had a great time playing, but didn't want to pose for pictures. Little stinkers!

Now both boys are awake from their naps, so I am off to entertain... Happy Wednesday, friends.

Jackaroo.

I love how each of our children have their own nicknames that have evolved from their personalities. Jack has acquired many, many nicknames over the last four months:
Jacky
Jackaroo
The Jack Meister
Munchkin
Monkey
Baby Tiger
Baby Bean
... just to name a few.

Evan went off to pre-school this morning without any tears or clinging to my leg so I can't walk out the door without him. I told him I was leaving and he just waved and went back to him puzzle. Now I'm a little sad that he doesn't miss me!

I started Cathy Z.'s "Me: The Abridged Version" class last night. I have really excited to take on the project and create an entire album dedicated to me. I create so many layouts & projects for Mark and the boys, but not very many pages are about me & what has created the person I am today. I am hoping to stay caught up and have a cool, completed album in four weeks.

We have family arriving tomorrow & a fun weekend planned so blogging will be light. Have a fantastic weekend!

The First Day of Pre-School + Other Stuff

Some notes about Evan's first day of pre-school:

Leaving for school.

1.) Evan was excited about going to school & we talked about mommy & daddy leaving (and coming back), but the departure time was tough. He did a lot of crying (for about 20 minutes, according to his teacher), but he recovered by transition time & had fun the rest of the day.

2.) He participated in the art project & answered the question "what makes you special?" He replied: "I like cars." He gave the answer I would have expected him to! It's what I would have said :-)

Right before Mark and I left. He was very sad & clingy, but didn't cry until right before we walked out the door.

We tried to engage him in some activities before leaving, but he wanted to watch and hold my hand for the most part.
He did pick up a few colored blocks (to see through, of course!), but that didn't last long.

3.) He was so excited to see us when we picked him up. He ran up to us and gave us hugs & checked out Jack in his car seat. It was so cool to see that he had stopped crying and really enjoyed his day. His teacher said he played outside & worked at the coloring table & played in the imaginative play station for a long time.

4.) Evan did have one accident, but he told Mark & me that he got into some water while outside, so we're not sure what happened. We talked for a long time about going potty in the bathroom & not having accidents, and on his second day of pre-school he was accident free. Good job buddy!

5.) This is going to be a great experience for him. He talks about playing with other kids & is already excited about taking his cars to school on Friday for show-and-tell. I love having a couple hours to myself in the mornings, and he definitely needs the socialization. This was a good decision and I'm happy with the way things are going.

6.) His second day of school, today, went smoothly. A few tears during departure, but only for 3 or 4 minutes, and then he was fine. He did another art project (a self portrait) and played at the water table. I am so happy he is adjusting to our time apart.

Jack got to hang out with me while Evan was in school:

Every night is different with Evan. Sometimes he wants stories & to read books, other nights he doesn't. Last night he wanted book after book after book:
Look at me multi-task! Reading a book, holding a baby, and giving a bottle. I think I am due for a super
mom award soon :-)

Jack is the happiest little guy! He is all smiles, even though he is fighting a mild cold & is teething. He loves to be talked to & to be held:

I am off to work on more of Jack's baby album & some digital stuff.
