Spectacular Little Moments

Sunrise captured by Henri as he quietly welcomes the day enjoying his morning coffee.

The sweetness of an American Goldfinch having breakfast outside our window.

While standing at my kitchen window, I notice the sun illuminating a crucifix on a cemetery statuary across the street.    It was my first time ever to see this happen.

Taken inside the cemetery, here is a close-up of the crucifix.

A lustrous tea cup unexpectedly and very recently given to me by a friend.

My treat at the close of the day, is to drink my own home-made version of Venetian Hot Chocolate from it.

Taken in the fading daylight, my image of it leaves room for improvement, but the dark, rich chocolate inside is heavenly.

And yet another beautiful day in Maine draws to a close leaving me content just to be here.

Sweet Surprises

This is what I found on my camera this morning, even though I slept right through sunrise.  The view from our bedroom window that Henri captured for this sleepyhead.

Want a quick snack idea?  I found the "everything bagel" pretzels at the grocery store last night and thought I might dip them in some white chocolate morsels for a sweet and salty treat.

And then this morning inspiration hit me as I melted the morsels and then got distracted.  The white chocolate set up too fast and so I just slathered it on between 2 pretzels.

Just look what Lee from The Way I See It sent me in the mail recently.  A lovely handcrafted rose pin. All I did was leave a comment on her post and she awarded me with this beautiful customized creation.  I just love it!

She has had her artwork featured in Somerset Apprentice, and she lives right here in Maine too. Thank you so much Lee, it was a very sweet surprise!

Silver Lining

Lately, I have been noticing a lot of mercury glass showing up in magazines and shows on interior design, and I wondered if I could recreate the look using silver leaf to line the inside of glass.

I found this apothecary jar that was missing a lid and knew it would make the perfect test subject for my experiment.

In a matter of minutes, I had something that looked a lot like a piece of aged mercury glass. And I was even able to find a small glass to use as a lid.

Why is it so hard for me to photograph shiny objects?

Anyway, yesterday's sunrise out my window.

Doesn't get any more silver lined than that for me.
