viva rosa

Since bandana paisley and floral print are clearly my shit this season, today's outfit makes me feel like I did myself a generous service. Several other elements of this look that more or less define my personhood: impractical vinyl wedges paired with hyperpractical velvet joggers, clubmaster sunglasses (especially ones reflecting the downtown Vegas skyline), striped faux fur and a spectrum of reds from matte rouge on my lips to a maroon orange in the bricks behind me. Athletic glamour will never go out of style. Like, ever. I mean at least until its ineffable charm is subsumed by a Wal-Mart boardroom of coolhunters. We still got time, people.

This oversize tee, which functions just as well (if not better) as a dress, is accented by both a rose bouquet around the collar and a silver zipper that splits up the hem as it draws eyes down to the second half of the ensemble. Y'all gotta check out Ovidius Clothing and their other designs -- prints are the team's specialty. There's def a lot going on in this look but I better not need to explain why that isn't a bad thing... if you're on this blog, you're no stranger to maximalism. Living in a highly excited state of overstimulation since '93.

heiress

In this outfit I'm roleplaying an Eastern European (possibly Russian?) heiress who wears exclusively velvet pantsuits and extravagant furs. Of course my leopard is only faux, but my alter ego knows no difference. She's only old money in the script I write for her. If there's one thing we fundamentally have in common it's intimate appreciation for this Chanel framed bag, my little pet art purse named Marcel. I could go on, but you probably heard enough in my Modulart post when it was first introduced.

Thank you Bardot for adorning me in the leopard opulence crucial to this lavish role. Australia always getting it right.

KREEPSVILLE

This February, Kreepsville 666 was kind enough to add this eyeball themed snapback to my cap collection! The team identifies as a source of "scare wear" where you can "stalk in style" -- fitting words for a brand that sells apparel decorated in skeleton bones, spiderwebs, and skulls. You might also know them for their famous neon eyeball bag (Charlotte Free carries one in green). I decided to pair my cap with a perforated black dress from 2020AVE. Check out their site and you'll notice a more sophisticated departure from Kreepsville's horror punk aesthetic. Sleek lines, soft palettes, elegant silhouettes... I gotta get my hands on a pair of these chiffon harem pants! And keep your eyes peeled for a later look that features 2020AVE's baroque leggings. Eyeballs are apparently the motif du jour!

Mirrored sunglasses - 80s Purple
"High Neck Zipper Quilted jacket" - Sheinside
"Netted skater dress" - 2020AVE
UNIF Hellbounds - Solestruck

When I'm not baring knees in an optimistic spring daze... I'm probably wearing a pair of leather leggings or chiffon pants with my Sheinside quilted jacket. It's a piece of classic outerwear that's more functional than it is fashionable, but I think that's what ultimately makes it so chic. Function is en vogue this year. More perforations, mesh insets, and quilted panels please!!

DISCO SK8R

With silver sequined shorts that resemble the sparkle of an old school disco ball and a backwards studded snapback, no phrase could better describe this look than "DISCO SK8R". It's a look casual enough for the skate park and glam enough for the dance floor. The glittering fabric is in an eye-catcher all around... doesn't matter if you're doing an ollie or a hustle. As long as it's smooth, it's welcome. Sparkling hot pants might not be the most nonchalant of garments in my dresser, but they certainly rank as one of the most comfortable. And with iridescent sneakers, a boxy crop top, and trusted leather jacket, I'm about as ready to rock and roll as the skeleton throwing up devil's fingers on my tee.

If ya lookin' to revamp your wardrobe this season, I gotta recommend the three retailers I'm reppin' hard with this look: Yes Style, for their impressive studded cap selection at wholesale prices, Sheinside, for their trend-conscious garments and shoe selection, and Romwe, for their EVERYTHING, as expected.

SUGARLIPS DAY 2: GIVE A SUGAR

Gettin' REAL frisky today in faux fur and leopard! I didn't want to overwhelm this gorgeous Sugarlips dress with too many accessories, so a simple vest and gold chain tied my look together without being too busy. Which isn't to say that I don't like "too busy." You know I'm the kinda gal to pile on the jewelry until my back slowly caves under the weight, and by the time I'm done dressing myself, I find that I'm face-flat on the floor and if I can't even stand up straight then what's the point of wearing all these AMAZING necklaces?? Boo, gravity. Needless to say, I avoided that fate by limiting myself to TWO lovely necklaces and my stand-by Zara hat. Hope we did the dress justice!

Vest - ROMWE

"Neonic Dreams Dress" - SUGARLIPS

Hope you guys are all having a fine and fabulous Thursday. If not, check out my blogger picks page on SUGARLIPS for some inspiration of the APPAREL variety to *surely* cheer you up! Basic Bebe Zeva trivia: when I'm feeling down, I consume copious amounts of caffeine and writhe in a pile of clothes on my bedroom floor. 5 Sugarlips garments, including this dress, have recently been inducted into said pile. Thank you, people of Sugarlips, for providing me the necessary cushions to prevent injury.

MAGIC Style File: What I Wore

MAGIC offers the most comprehensive collection of fashion brands and buyers under one roof -- with that in mind, the pressure was on to dress in duds that expressed where I fit into the trend horizon this season! Fortunately, I had Kelsi on hand to document three of my looks from the show.

DAY 1: Bohemian Color Block

Vest from Lucca Couture, blouse from Ellison, skirt from Lulu*s, pumps from Irregular Choice

This look was ALL about the shoes. I pulled colors from the pumps' retro print and found garments to match. Thanks so much to Ellison, Lucca Couture, and Irregular Choice for making this dream ensemble a fashion reality!

DAY 2: Sportpunk

Tank from Lovemarks, shorts from Lucca Couture, sneakers from Keds

With all the athletic influence on and off the runway these past few months, I felt obligated (in a good way) to illustrate how functional and chic the theme can be. A pair of perforated, elasticized shorts allot the ensemble some distinctly sporty edge and the Keds affirm that comfort is in my list of priorities for a busy day on the fashion floor. But the rhinestone encrusted tank top proves that a comfortable outfit doesn't mean glitz and glam are off the table. Thanks to Lovemarks, Lucca Couture, and Keds for the swag!

DAY 2 1/2: Eastern Wild Streak

Kimono from Darling, shorts from Lucca Couture, boots from Sheinside

Typical me, I opted for an outfit change before an afternoon discussion panel about blogger-brand relationships! I wanted to show our audience that any collaboration with any retailer can work if a blogger has aesthetic flexibility: my transition from rock n' roll sportswear to funky leopard and blossom print made that philosophy physically evident. Thanks to Darling for the gorgeous waterfall kimono!

Psychedelicate

I found this groovy fuchsia blouse at a Goodwill in North Hollywood with my best friend Jessi a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was 'just another blouse,' but Jessi encouraged me to try it on with all my jewelry and accessories. I fell in love with how well the hot pink bindi I was wearing at the time matched the magenta accents in the shirt. And the gold and black necklaces around my collar looked PERFECT with the glamorously retro daisy print. One glance in the mirror and two photographs later, I was sold. When I brought it home, I fell in love with how well it paired with my teal circle skirt from Yes Style. An outfit was born!

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:

Floppy hat - Karmaloop
Sunglasses - Party City
Blouse - Secondhand
Skirt - YES STYLE
Leopard boots - Sheinside

These leopard boots are a godsend from Sheinside, which stocks a badass variety of heels, flats, and platforms. Nothing better than a pop of animal print in an already psychedelic ensemble -- the subtle flare of the skirt, the fitted waist, and the wide brim afforded this look a sweet and almost sensitive side. Psychedelicate. Thanks, Sheinside, for the wild streak I needed this September!
