SHERBET HIPPIE

Who’s got  two thumbs and a hankering for some pastel ice cream?? THIS GAL RIGHT HERE. Made obvious by my pink, purple, and yellow flower outfit. I’m kind of working with a hippie theme – the 70s style Wildfox leotard takes care of that – but simultaneously entering mod territory with this sleek and stripey bodycon skirt. I’ve never been a bodycon kinda girl because of my awkward figure (no waist, no hips, and a perpetually bloated stomach) but Living Royal changed my mind when they sent me this sherbet-inspired, "Colorblock Tulip" bandage skirt. I got a bit hysterical when I noticed that the color scheme of the skirt matched my Wildfox leotard FREAKISHLY WELL. The two garments are so genuinely meant to be it’s not even funny.

Color scheme serendipity aside, I’m equally stoked about this pink leather backpack from Grafea! I wear pastel colors a LOT, so choosing a hue as specific as this one for a bag actually isn’t a bad idea. It gives me more reasons to wear fun shit, like my furry Free People coat (too hot for a jacket in Vegas? BAH.) I’ve seen a bunch of other bloggers rockin’ the same sack in different shades. India Rose has it in white, Vintage Virgin has it in pink, and Kavita has it in yellow. It’s like we’re power rangers. Fashion power rangers. This needs to happen. Thanks, Grafea, for hookin’ us up with your awesome backpacks (or 'rucksacks,' as you fancy Brits say)!!!! People - if you're shopping for a back-to-school bag that's not too bulky but EXTREMELY durable and damn cute to boot, I emphatically recommend one from Grafea. Check out this photo album for some inspiration!

PENNY LANE: KARAMLOOP COLLAB!

Hey haters... I recently collaborated with Karmaloop to create a 70s-inspired look reminiscent of everybody's favorite rockstar roadie, Penny Lane! I wore this outfit to the blogger flea market at Space 15 Twenty this weekend in Los Angeles. The weather treated me well in my shag jacket and despite all the walking I did up and down Sunset Blvd., my feet treated me pretty well, too! A long day of buying and selling in 6-inch platforms is no small "feet." (Remind me to punch myself in the face later today as punishment for my dumb pun.) All my garments (sans jewelry and belt) can be purchased at Karmaloop! Rock on y'all.

Floppy hat - Nixon, http://www.karmaloop.com/product/The-Floppy-Sunhat-in-Brown/179794

As an admitted hat hoarder, I believe there’s no better accessory than a wide-brim hat to top off a look. This one is a perfect fit for my more free spirited ensembles. It’s just floppy enough to hide behind when I’m feeling mysterious.

Sunglasses - House of Harlow 1960, http://www.karmaloop.com/product/The-Willow-Sunglasses-in-Mustard/192093

No 70′s get-up would be complete without a pair of mustard yellow circle sunnies. These frames by House of Harlow make me feel like a bonafide rockstar groupie.

Bodysuit - Wildfox, http://www.karmaloop.com/product/175588

There are two phrases I’m shamelessly obsessed with saying: “flower power” and “passion for fashion.” Okay, maybe I’m a LITTLE ashamed by how cliche and cheesy they are. But seriously, throw those two together and BOOM! You get this cartoonish bodysuit by Wildfox. It also comes in orange, but I chose charcoal because it’s both dark and delicate.

Shag jacket - Free People, http://www.karmaloop.com/product/The-Cropped-Fur-Jacket/209477

Without a doubt, shag swag is the hottest trend of 2012. I feel like I’m wearing a pink poodle around my shoulders when I leave the house in this cropped jacket by Free People, and of course I mean that in the best way possible. Poodles are sophisticated, quite like my sweater when paired with stilletos and an LBD. Just because it’s hippie chic doesn’t mean it can’t be paired with a modern wardrobe!

Velvet flares - Free People, http://www.karmaloop.com/product/The-Burnout-Velvet-Flare-Pant/209575

Almost Famous called, they want their pants back. What would a 70′s inspired outfit be without bell bottoms? The velvet details give these bad boys some MAJOR flare. Get it? Major “flair?” My apologies – I can’t go five seconds without making a terrible pun. It’s a problem.

Platform boots - Zigi, http://www.karmaloop.com/product/194072

It wouldn’t be a disco without dancing, and it wouldn’t be dancing with sky-high kicks for doin’ the Hustle. Cue the 6-inch Zigi platforms. They’re SO large and in charge that they might actually steal all the sparkle from the disco ball. And your dad’s vintage polyester leisure suit. Can you say GROOVY? Yes, yes you can.

MY OTHER FISH VEST

I have a serious question: why does the fashion universe put such an emphasis on being 'all-business'? I actually feel angry thinking about how pressured people feel to dress in a way that exhibits how seriously they take aesthetics. I'm first to admit that I value classicism, but I likewise value the element of irony and gimmicks. I'm hoping that one of these days a celebrated designer of couture takes cues from someone like Jeremy Scott and weaves humor into their collection. On that note, here's my beloved secondhand fish vest, gifted to me from budding fashionisto Travis McFarland.

Fish vest aside, 1960s bedhead is my theme du jour.

S†▲Y GOLD

Happy Saturday, everyone! This was a surprisingly last minute outfit I wore a few days ago to perform some of life's simple wonders like eating pizza and listening to Finnish metal. I know it's winter and generally pretty gloomy outside, but I still wear sunglasses every day in an effort to dismiss the fact that it's not actually summer break and I'm not actually roller-blading down the boardwalk of a Californian beach.

†RI▲NGLE SHIR†

I know what you're thinking. "That shirt is SO aligned with your personal brand, Bebe." And you can thank Wildfox Couture for making that alignment possible in the first place! I decided that this metallic triangle t-shirt is presently my favorite item of clothing. It's long enough to cover my butt and wear with a pair of thigh-high tights like I did last Friday for the downtown arts festival. For those who wonder, I never wear t-shirts without a proper garment underneath! That means no matter how long the hem, there's always a skirt, dress or pair of shorts hiding beneath my top. I'm WAY too self-conscious to let the wind blow where the sun doesn't shine... ;)

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Beanie- H&M
Glasses- Tilly's
Shirt- Wildfox Couture
Tights- H&M
Heels- Vera Wang

And I OF COURSE always show you guys when I get a new pair of shoes, so please give a warm welcome to these navy peep-toe sling-back Vera Wang pumps! The elevated black platform makes the stiletto rise much less intimidating for a heel-challenged girl like me and considerably easier to walk in! I'd actually say that these are one of my more comfortable pairs of platform shoes.

Here's a polaroid my wonderful friend Nick took of me outside the WASH-A-RAMA in our downtown arts district! Nick is the most dedicated photographer of Vegas culture and has more experience with film cameras than anyone I know. If you want to know what life is like for two 17 year olds in Las Vegas, check out his work- he expertly captures the lifestyle with his brilliant eye for aesthetics and urban beauty.

PE▲CE

This outfit is from a few nights ago when I spent the evening out in the city with my sister Rachel and friends Jordan + Travis. It was actually Christmas day, but since none of us are religious, we spent it at Hooters.

FROM TOP TO BOTTOM:
Cap- I wear it so often I'm going to stop listing it
Jacket- Members Only
Shirt- Wildfox
Jeggings- David Lerner from Beckley
Pumps- Vera Wang
Foxtail- Christmas present from Travis!

Without the shoes, hat, and jacket, my outfit could have EASILY served as pajamas. One day I'm going to fall asleep wearing this t-shirt and jeggings and wake up fully dressed.

This peace sign shirt by Wildfox Couture is another gift from Seventeen magazine... I'll show you the rest as soon as I can, cross my heart and hope to die!
