Paying it forward with a "CLICK"

I'm not exactly sure what is going on in Grandy-land at the moment.  Now that I'm 40 am I going all sentimental?  My usual comical posts appear to be replaced with a few "LOVE LOVE LOVE" posts.  HUH? ::taking temperature:: Let's blame it on a full moon, hormones, or a hangover headache, but here you are...stuck feeling my love with another post.

Wait a minute.  It's not my comical anecdotes that you all were missing.  It was just the posts in general.  Riiigggghhhhtttt!!  *wink wink*  We'll just go with that and say, "I missed you too!"

In my last post, I explained how very cool our small town of Foresthill is.  What I maybe didn't mention was how "small" it is, in comparison to many communities.

Our local businesses and community members give their all to support the local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, Little League, Swim Team, Softball, Soccer (and more I know I'm forgetting at the moment) in addition to the Elementary, Middle and High Schools.  We truly are blessed.

I can't count a weekend where there is not a fundraising opportunity for one event or another.  For a small town, we always rally for whatever the cause.  Car washes, spaghetti feeds, Tupperware parties, and this weekend is the annual "FIRE SALE" which is where everybody donates their things 8 months out of the year for a HUGE sale to benefit the local volunteer fire department.

Because we are such a small town, we are often overlooked in the area of corporation donations.  We have launched full force campaigns over the last few years to raise some serious funds to keep things going, as budget cuts keep coming to our small schools.  Budget cuts are affecting schools everywhere, don't get me wrong.  But since this is my blog...I get to talk about MY schools.

Enter (stage left) an opportunity for YOU...YES YOU...to help our small town.

Were you touched by the story of our fire?  Have you been moved to tears (pass the tissue) over my love for these folks?  Are you ready to hand over your wallets and life savings?  Not so much?  Hehehe...I don't blame you.  Good thing I'm not asking you for money, huh?

Target has launched a Gift Card campaign.  For every 25 votes our Foresthill High School gets, Target will gift us a $25 gift card.  Did you catch that?  You click...and TARGET pays.  Pretty good gig huh?

So...You have a computer...you have a Facebook...Please check this out and vote for Foresthill High School.  You can vote once a week until 9/8/12 (or until Target runs out of their $2.5M), so be sure to come back and vote.

Brilliant People in the World

Grandy has blessed this part of the world with many stories of blithering idiots. In fact, Grandy has even shared some "not-so-proud" moments she has executed. In fact, early on in this blogger's hobby, she shared this story with you all. *sigh*

It's a wonder anyone still puts up with Grandy, but I almost think people will wonder what they'll miss if they don't.

There have been opportunities to focus on those that are FAR smarter than this Grandy. Remember when we hosted the Sunday Stalker series? That was fun, and filled with MANY people with varying skills that far outweighed that of Grandy. I was truly humbled to learn of all the different people that stalk follow this site. As a matter of fact, the guilt sometimes really gets me when I have been remiss in keeping this site as active as I should. (It will get better people...really)

In the spirit of trying to highlight someone smart for a change (don't worry, there are no "People of Walmart" in this feature), Grandy would like to introduce you to Michael Day. Grandy has not personally met Michael Day herself...yet...but she feels like she knows him because she works with his beautiful sister-in-law. You can just tell that these are GOOD people...and Grandy digs that.

Michael Day is currently competing in the GE Ecomagination Challenge. He has come up with a Combined Cooling and Energy Storage invention that looks really top notch. Grandy is not the sharpest tool in the shed, and some of the analogies are a little lost on her, but you know it's not very often that we get on this site and say CHECK THIS OUT!!! But when someone so brilliant comes up with such a great idea...when that brilliant someone is in my Kevin Bacon 6-degrees of separation...and when I think there is a genuine chance for making a difference...Grandy will tell you to CHECK THIS OUT NOW!!

Michael is competing with other brilliant ideas all over the world. Grandy has brilliant readers all over the world. We could make this work folks!!

Let's CHECK THIS OUT and go VOTE for Michael!! If you do check it out, please stop by and let us know your thoughts. If you like his idea enough...please share it on your blog and link back to it. We would love to support your blog in this adventure as well.

Grandy will track how far this momentum can carry. It will be good to get back into the blogging community on a more regular basis any way. What better way to re-join the community than to tell two friends...and they tell two friends...and so on, and so on...

Thanks for your support gang!!

And the Wiener Is...

First of all readers...why is it when Grandy visits dictionary.com (because Grandy is tired and can't tell if she is spelling this important word) and enters the word WIENER there are STILL ads for politics and propositions?

I cannot be the only one to see the irony in the word WIENER triggering politics. Oh yeah...Grandy is counting the seconds to the end of this election, and I wish a great deal of luck to all the candidates, the advocates, and the voters. This will be an historic election event and know that because of the issues and the people involved, it is not going to be an easy one.

Anywhoo...digressing...

With the craziness of the day (and I promise to post about that tomorrow) it is 11:30pm and I'm almost failing on day 3 of NaBlo.

**Sigh**

Making it in under the wire...but still making it! Oooh! That should be Grandy's new motto!! See!! A Grandy-ism!!

In 200th Post - Another Grandy-Ose Contest I promised a random drawing. With that random drawing there was to be an award of 1000 EC Credits or a $25 Gift Certificate. I did offer to up the ante if I got enough comments, but alas...I can't even bribe 50 comments.

**Sigh...again**

Kidding...I have enough rockin' readers that I had more comments than ever. Thank you to all who played.

And the WIENER is... (Grandy likes that word)

Oh CRAP!! I always have a hard time when trying to link to this babe. Here goes...

Jenn @ Juggling Life - You'll have to tell me how you'd like your gift card, Jenn. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Yep! Jenn...you're Grandy's new WIENER!!!

Thanks to everyone for playing along, and being a part of 200 posts of Grandy.

See you all tomorrow!!

200th Post - Another Grandy-Ose Contest

Here I am...My 200th Post!!

I tried to think of something monumental to commemorate the occasion, and even came to all of you for ideas with A Grandy-ose Contest.

You all did such a great job with your ideas. Although I will have to say, the thought of posting 200 things about Grandy frightened me. I can't think of 200 things about 10 people I know, much less 200 things about me, that would not force you to such an extreme point of boredom that you would not be lining up, single file, to jump off a bridge.

So, in an effort to save all your lives (hey, someone has to do it) I have opted against the 200 things about Grandy. Although Suzanne you did crack me up with the thought.

So, with 200 posts I thought it was time to see what type of blogger I actually am. I am not a monetized blogger. I'm not a political blogger. I'm not really a blogger with a theme. I just blog about whatever strikes Grandy...and whatever I think you might like.

Really...that head in the sand thing is SO GRANDY. I'm all over the map with what prompts me to write. I thought I could take this fun Blogthings quiz to see if they had any idea what type of blogger I am. I thought it was pretty accurate and here's what I found...

You Are a Life Blogger!

Your blog is the story of your life - a living diary.

If it happens, you blog it. And you make it as entertaining as possible.

You may be guilty of over-sharing a bit on your blog, but you can't help it.

Your life is truly an open book. Or in this case, an open blog!

Well, I want to hear from all of you. What kind of blogger are you?

I have decided to make a new (and sorta separate) contest for this one.

Here are the rules:

- 1 - Leave a comment here with what type of blogger you think you are AND tell me what the quiz says. You all have your own themes that you try to follow...share them with the readers here.
- 2 - Tell me who your favorite blog is (and if you could please leave a link) and WHY!! Grandy is all about learning about her readers, and what it is they like in a blog.
- 3 - All the comments will be thrown into a hat for random drawing for the winner.

Tell your friends... have them come comment...as the more comments I get the more the pot grows.

**I will start the winnings at 1000 EC Credits or a $25 Gift Certificate. I am so anxious to learn about all these other blogs and bloggers, if there are more than 50 original comments (no posting the same one twice) then the pot will escalate to 1500 EC Credits or a $50 Gift Certificate.

This contest will be open until...ummmm...Halloween. Yeah...that's a good day. It's completely random, but that's what Grandy is...random. I will close the contest on Halloween.

What this means is...yes...the WINNER of the first "A Grandy-ose Contest" is Momisodes. Sandy... Congratulations!!! Please email me for your prize of the iTunes card. If you would prefer the gift card in another way (Amazon, straight cash) let me know.

A Grandy-ose Contest

Hear Ye Hear Ye!!!!!

Come one!! Come All!!!

Grandy is having her first CONTEST EVER!!!

Why???

Grandy has posted 185 posts (well technically this one is 186 but Grandy is always flippin' late fore everything).

So...what does this mean??

It means I am holding a contest for your ideas. Yep...YOUR ideas.

Do any of you remember my 100th Post with 100 Linky Lovin craziness? I found and commented on 100 blog posts and linked back to all 100 here. That was a tough one but I was introduced to a lot of pretty good blogs.

Grandy has a lot of lofty ideas but I tend to struggle a bit with my focus. What...you're surprised?

I am holding a contest for what you all think Grandy should do for her 200th post.

200 POSTS!!

Oh yeah, this is coming up here soon and I'm trying to plan ahead.

And Grandy wants all her readers and followers (do I have any stalkers out there?) to be a part of it. I want this to be a bloggy event that you all can enjoy.

So...what should Grandy do with her 200th post?

Post your ideas in the comment section and I will pick my favorite. You didn't think this would be random did you?? Heck no!!

The prize??

You will have a choice of...

500 EntreCard Credits. No, you don't have to subscribe, or post my link on your blog, or go write about it on your blog...unless you want to.

...OR...(because so few of my commenters are members of EntreCard)

...AND...

Some linky love...

...AND...

My UNDYING gratitude and affection.

What more could a blogging friend ask for??
