Me and My Boys

Caleb has always been fascinated with the scriptures since we started reading them together at night just before bedtime. At first, he was just fascinated with the pictures (specifically of boats), but now he's becoming fascinated with the stories which is so fun. We just bought the Old Testament children's version about a month ago, and Caleb is really enjoying the stories. When we ask Caleb to pick out 3 books before bedtime, the scriptures are always one of his books (even though we would read them anyway). And lately, he doesn't care about reading other books, but just wants to pick out his favorite stories from the Old Testament and read them. I was very surprised when Caleb brought the scriptures to me this afternoon and asked me to read them to him just out of the blue. That's a real test of love. We're now trying to encourage Caleb to tell us the stories. It's a work-in-progress :o).

We read one page of the children's scriptures before bed every night with Caleb. Most of the time he sits real well and listens (unless he doesn't want to go to bed since he knows that's what will shortly follow). A real treat the past couple of weeks is Caleb wanting to 'read' by himself. If we're in his room playing and he sees the scriptures, he'll sit in the rocking chair all by himself and start flipping through the pages looking at the pictures. We finally caught it on camera. I hope this love of scripture reading will continue always as that's the best present he could ever give his mom on mother's day!
