Santa Rocks!

At least this one does! My friend Lara is a fabulous photographer & will be traveling to AZ in November to have her annual pictures with Santa day. Let me tell you, I was at one of theses sessions a couple of years ago. It was awesome. Everything about it from the background for the photos to the Santa to Lara's relaxed style. The kids loved Santa & he was so real! If you would like to book a slot in the session just click here to go to Lara's Santa page. You won't be disappointed, I promise! I just hope Santa & Lara are around when I have kids to take!

thankul thursday

Alright, well I was hoping to have a cute new little photo to add to my TT post, but clearly it isn't quite up to snuff yet. If you click on it you can read the quote. It is one I absolutely LOVE & whole heartedly agree with.

This week I am thankful for:

1. The safety of my family during hurricane Ike. Not sure about the family beach house on Crystal Beach & we know my childhood home was damaged, but everyone was safe & sound.
2. Those people in my life that help me remember to stay positive, even while going through trials.
3. Cooler weather in the evenings!
4. A clean car... oh the difference!
5. Most of my favorite shows are back for the season, it's been a long time thanks to the whole strike last year.

home is where the heart is

These photos are of my childhood home. As you can see, it was hit pretty hard during hurricane Ike. It is so sad to think that they may have to demolish it and rebuild due to all the structural issues they are now facing because of the impact of these 2 trees. My parents sold this home only a few years ago, but I knew I could always drive by it when in town visiting. I looked forward to showing my kids where I lived.

It's the place I called home until I got married. I met Clint and fell in love while I lived in this house, graduated from high school, had my first job. I got a porcelain daybed for Christmas one year in that house. And bless Santa's heart, he even put it together in the living room so I could see it on Christmas morning, then it had to be taken apart to be taken upstairs and re-assembled in my bedroom. I missed curfew one night and was in such a hurry I forgot to put my car in park and ran right into the garage door! lol!! (Then I lied to my sweet father and acted like I had no clue what had happened the next day when he questioned me, oh how naive I really was) I made biscuits in the kitchen for the first time (I mention this because my Grandmother said they were the best she had ever had! Oh what a sweet Grandma!). I spilled hot chocolate in the living room the SAME week my parents re-carpeted the entire house a few weeks after they bought it... I don't think that lone stain ever came out. I decided to have a trading spaces weekend when I was in high school and re-do my little sister Megan's room. We chose ROYAL BLUE for the walls, let's just say I don't think we ever finished and when they decided to sell and put in new carpet they discovered that the paint I spilled in her room (yes, I must have been clumsy!) soaked all the way into the boards under the padding. =) I had a 2 best friends while in that house. I dated my first boyfriend in that house. I decorated my closet in that house (does this really surprise you?!). I got electrocuted in that house, and lived, it was a true miracle. These are just a few of the memories I had in that house. I think I
could write all night.

I cried in that house, I laughed in that house, I was angry in that house, I was happy in that house. I learned how close the Savior can be to us in that house. I learned that if you aren't careful you can get to close to the edge in that house. In that house I learned that no matter how complicated life can get, I will always have my family. There are so many memories there for me. I loved that house.

They are out of sequence, but I thought it was more important to add them rather then obsess over their order! As you can see, it was pretty bad damage can you see outside? If you look at the top of the stairs you can see to the outside. It's even starting to mold because of all the moisture. =( I hope they can save it. I feel bad for the new owners and I will be keeping them in my prayers as they have months and months of repairs or longer if they have to start from scratch.

thankful thursday

It comes so quickly for me. Then, once we're here on thursday's I feel like it's the longest day of the week. Maybe it's because I truly LOVE fabulous friday's or something to that affect! But, I do realize how vital TT is to me, it keeps me grounded.

Holy Moly! As much as I can't get enough, I need to get enough of all the fall treats I'm really enjoying. This week alone, Snickerdoodle Ice Cream from Bluebell (a Texas favorite & a MUST try, it's A-MAZ-ING!), PSWHC - pumpkin spice white hot chocolate, Pumpkin Spice Hershey's Kisses & now a NEW love... Pumpkin Cheesecake Ben & Jerry's!!! I guess that means no Pumpkin Cheesecake from here or no Pumpkin Creme Brulee from here (never had it, heard it's great!) or no trial of this new recipe!! I'm already on sugar over-load & it's only the middle of September!

I'm also really thankful that later this morning I get to be in the room when I find out if I get another Niece or Nephew in February! SO FUN!!

Also on the never-ending to do list today, submit a few job aps & look for new teaching ops. I'm kind of excited about both of these oddly enough. Hopefully I'll be thankful next week that some of these work out & I will be able to contribute to our little family a little more!

And, possibly attend a Gold Canyon Candle party later, I can't tell you how much I am needing a pumpkin candle to curb my appetite! Boy, am I thankful such a thing exists!

makes my heart full of joy

I have been going through my Wedding & Event photos to pull some samples together for some consultations coming up & I came across this bouquet from last fall. It was for the head table for a wedding I did at Sassi in North Scottsdale. It was a stunning wedding! I loved working with this bride not only on her wedding, but as a floral sponsor for the Go Red for Women luncheon held at the Biltmore last June. I just thought I would share because it made me so happy! Don't you love the milk glass cake pedestal I used. It was from the brides personal collection, I'm a huge fan of milk glass so I was thrilled indeed when she asked me to incorprate them into the florals. That was a long bit about one picture lol, sorry! One last thing, has anyone else noticed how beautiful it is in the evenings now! I LOVE Fall!!

12 September 2008

fabulous friday

Okay, So I totally had to post 2 photos today. The one on the left is to die for! I think this is a fabulous entrance into any home! And the one on the right, well let's just say I'm a little jealous that we can't do this here yet!!! And I happen to love the exterior of this home! The two photos are complete opposites of each other, but hey I can't help my style! lol!
Happy Friday to all!

thankful thursday

I am so very thankful this week that I am an American.

I feel so blessed to live in a land that makes me free & gives me choice. I am grateful for those that serve our country & stand up for us to retain our freedom. I know it's been a long time since our country was undoubtedly changed forever but I will never forget how that change occurred. I want to document my experience, because I don't know that I've ever actually written it down, & I'm getting older & don't want to forget how I found out about what happened & what we did in the time after.

I was in college in 2001. It was a cold chilly day in Idaho. I always slept with my radio on, the music helped me sleep. The morning of the 11th I remember being frustrated at all the talking on the radio that morning. I was just trying to sleep in! Then I decided that something must be important because I hadn't heard any music for quite some time. I got up & went across my room to turn up my stereo. I stood there is shock as the words sunk in. I ran downstairs to our living room & turned on our t.v. Every channel it seemed had the same coverage, & a usually busy courtyard was still outside our condo. At that moment all I could think about was my friend Elizabeth who had an early class that morning. Her father worked near the trade center. I ran back upstairs & woke up my roommates & told them what had just happened. We all went back downstairs & watched the t.v. in shock. I think I called my parents during this time too. Another friend of mine came over & sat with us for a bit. I told her we needed to go get Liz out of class because surely she hadn't heard what was going on. So we got dressed quickly grabbed our jackets & headed to campus. We found her lecture hall & went in & found her. She hadn't heard the news & let the prof. know what was going on & we left. She called her family & couldn't get through (obviously) so we just say in front of the t.v. wondering & crying. Finally we heard from them, her Dad was fine, what relief. He had meetings in up-state that week & was no where around. It was a sobering time. We all spent hours watching the news & reading the newspaper for more information in the days & weeks following. I remember not really knowing where America would go from there. I guess I am still waiting for us to completely recover. I still have hope that we can be more unified as a country, especially during election times.

This is OUR country & we have been blessed with the ability to protect & honor it. I also wanted to remember the families of those who are serving. I can't imagine sending my loved ones away for a time not knowing if I would ever see them again while on this earth. It must be so hard to get through each day & I admire their strength.

Here is a link to a song I have just loved about the day that changed everything. Where were you?

I'm ready!

I'm SO ready for fall! I wish the weather would stop teasing us. We are supposed to be in the 90's this week. I'm sure we'll hit above 100 a couple more times this year, but I'm done already! I'm ready for cool breezes & pretty pumpkins! I am also in the mood for awesome fall florals, especially Dahlias! They are the awesome orange flowers in the bouquet above that I created last fall. I love how vibrate it is! Yay for Fall!!!

08 September 2008

If I look a litte sad, here's why-

This past week I heard the official news that I have been hoping & praying I wouldn’t have to hear. Family Scrapbook Studio, where I have been working & teaching for the past year has reached the end of it’s road & will be closing it’s doors on September 20th.

I am heart-broken to say the least. Working in the scrapbooking world has been an amazing experience for me. One I will keep close to my heart for the rest of my life. I am so thankful that they gave me a chance to offer my knowledge, passion & skills with the community. They made me a scrapbooking teacher, something that is a very difficult & a competitive thing to attain. I will still never forget how I wanted to jump for joy when the offer was given, I even reached out & hugged a stranger to me at the time who has become a dear friend. (I don’t normally hug random people but that’s just how excited I was!)

I know I will get through this, just like I always do, but it doesn’t make it hurt any less. I hate change & this is a pretty big one for me. I now have to be on the look out for a new job & a new store to teach at once I get some more class samples ready to go!

Here’s to another new chapter of my life...

06 September 2008

pumpkin spice & chocolate!!!

I'm such a sucker! We were walking through Target the other night, & we saw these new Hershey's kisses. They are PUMPKIN SPICE. I couldn't leave the store without them & O-H M-Y G-O-S-H!!! I can't tell you how amazing they are. SERIOUSLY! I am in LOVE. Not just a "oh I'll probably pick up another bag before the season is up love" but the " I have to make sure & buy a ton more & stick them in the freezer so I'll have them through Christmas" kind of love!! Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am an Avid fan of pumpkin spice & chocolate together. It's just about the most amazing combination on earth in my opinion! And I don't love chocolate so much, but the combination is well, the best!

fabulous friday

When I tagged this photo, I called it the "Yummy Work Room" lol, I really do love this room.
I've been trying to re-vamp my studio/office. I would love this look in a different color scheme.
I love how crisp it is and at the same time inviting & casual.

04 September 2008

holla

Ok! So I think I am finally ready to say it. I want Leanne to win... there, I said it! It's true. I love her & have from the start. I usually wait until we're at the top 6 to make my announcement, but after last night, it is a done deal for me. Her dress was so beautiful & so well made. I didn't fully understand the jacket with it, but maybe it's my age or the fact that we're still at least 3 months away from jackets here that I just couldn't think on those lines, regardless though, the judges loved it & that is all that matters!

On another PR note, I had to post this video of Tim. It's SO hilarious to me. I think the night it was on TV Clint & I replayed it a million times! We LOVE Tim! Enjoy!!

alter ego

I participate in a weekly scrapbooking layout challenge inspired by project runway. One of my favorite shows!! { I'll get to that in a bit! } Our last challenge was doing a layout of our aLteR eGO. Let me tell you... SO FUN! I kept trying to think & think & think of what mine could be. It finally hit me! My alter ego is known as "DoZer GiRl", she pretty much rocks! To the left is the layout I came up with! So my question for is, what would YoUr AlTer EgO be? Just curious!! Just leave a comment, no layout needed!

thankful thursday

This past week I haven't really thought a lot about what I've been thankful for until Tuesday. Prior to that I was loathing in a bath of self pity thinking "why me", but it's interesting how the little things that happen help you realize we really are blessed always.

1. Confidence. Now this might be a funny one, but I spent a lot of years in my life without this one, & let me tell ya, having it has made a huge impact in my life.
2. Phones. They seem to have been the bearer of sad news as well as much needed good news this week.
3. Learning Acceptance. I feel like I should be in some sort of support circle saying this, but for me it's a b-i-g one. I cannot change the choices others make, even when they involve me. But I have been thankful that Clint helps me accept them & move along.
4. The Little Things. If you've ever heard that saying enjoy the little things, for one day they will be the big things. I can't tell you how very true this is! The little things people say, the little blessings that can be easily over looked & fall candy being put out lol!!

oh happy, happy, happy day!!!

One of my favorite treats is back for the fall. I just picked up a bag last night, yum-o! It will certainly be a happy day now that I have these to nibble on throughout the day lol!

02 September 2008
