Our very last visit to a Bird Park..Ever!

The kids had just stepped into the free-flight aviary and were happily retrieving the capsule of bird feed from the dispenser when a big pelican jumped onto the low wall next to Fai, opened its beak wide and had half of Fai's head in its beak.
It happened in a split second. The bird let go immediately.
It was a terrifying experience and Fai wanted out. He said he would only look at another bird if it were on tv or in a cage And absolutely NO more bird parks.
A day later, Fai made a sketch of a rather gruesome device

Here it is made out of Lego.
When the wheels are rotated, the hammer falls and pelican gets squashed.

A homeschooling parent recounted an incident that he encountered a few years back, also with a pelican. He said a huge pelican with its wings spread out wide, blocked his family's path. As they circled around it, the bird continued to eyeball them. Such a territorial bird.
So visitors to the Bird Park, beware of the pelican!

Fai and LEGO

There was a time when the windows, doors and wheels were in separate containers. But that is all in the past, now every LEGO piece is jumbled up in a plastic box.
Fai prefers his creations to be monotone and would sift through the box for his desired colour as he builds.
Now, he has taken this one step further. He would arrange all the different pieces into rows of varying sizes before starting work.

Lego creations May2011

Fai's Lego vehicle. He told me that this was amphibious - able to go on land and water with an extra feature that let's it submerge underwater.
His houses comes with furnishings such as dining table, toilet, bed, fan, kitchen...
He would patiently sort out the colours before building the walls.
He now says that we don't have enough Lego pieces to build his empire.
JY's Black-White house
She is into using black. Especially for her cakes. DH and I would advice to stay away from black and dark colours for her older clients. She doesn't agree.
While walking along Jonker Street in Melaka, we came across a temple with black walls adorned with golden dragons, she went "You SEE, everyone is into GOTH these days" and added "Look how elegant it looks!"

Lego @ home

Ean has started on Lego. He builds cars and trains. Picks the pieces himself and piles them up high.

Fai's Transformers.

Fai's double storey house comes with a garden, pond and a cannon to blast away pesky neighbours.

Staircase leading to the second floor. Note the dining area.

LEGO by Fai

An interesting contraption.

Has wheels to swivel 360 degrees. Can be separated into 3 different parts - to be sold separately.

Fai stressed that it depends on the buyer's budget "If you don't have much money, you can buy the smaller part"
He added that for the ultimate fun, you must buy all 3 parts.

He has inherited his father's marketing and sales skills.
