Striped Tree

Today's card is for the Addicted to Stamps and More Christmas challenge.  I managed to quickly make 4 cards with this design.  I took a piece of printer paper and covered it with different green strips of cardstock and then die cut 4 trees from it.  Then I die cut 4 stars, embossed 4 sentiments and trimmed 4 card base panels from an old 12x12 piece of patterned paper. The trees are popped up on foam tape and I added a few crystal drops because I love them.  :)

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (Black) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight,  All the greens!) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Red plaid 12x12)

You Are Chair-ished

I was feeling in a punny mood yesterday so I pulled out some oldie but goodie stamps to put together this simple card.  The chairs are from a 2010 Unity Kit of the Month set (!!!) and the sentiment is from one of the earliest Papertrey Ink sets that I bought.  I keep thinking I need to weed some of my older stuff out but when I try I end up making cards with what I dig up. It's like finding lost treasure!
I'm going to enter this is the Addicted to Stamps and More Any Occasion challenge because there's always an occasion to share love, encouragement and a pun!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White, Black) Papertrey Ink, (Cajun Craze, Pacific Point) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Chair from Sept 2010 KOM) Unity, (Sentiment from Chair-ished) Papertrey Ink

CASology #390

Welcome to Week 390 of CASology!  Take a look at the cue word for this week:

I was trying to come up with a more original take on this week's cue word but I ran out of time and ended up reaching for this butterfly (because they're generally found outside!) that was left over from this project.  I wanted those pretty colours to be the stars of the show so I kept things simple and just added a small sentiment on top of the butterfly.  I dithered about Nuvo drops for a while but in the end I decided it didn't need anything else.

Looking forward to seeing what direction the cue word takes you.  Check out the gorgeousness from the rest of the design team then play along!

***You've got 2 weeks for this challenge!***
Link your creations to the CASology blog by 9am Monday, 24 May (CDT).

Hapbee Birthday

Today's card is for the Fusion challenge where I was inspired by both the photo and the sketch (although I went for a landscape instead of portrait orientation).  I paired this Paper Smooches bumble bee (from their first release I think!) with a more recent sentiment and gave him an Essentials by Ellen hat.  The hexagons are from a Papertrey Ink cover plate.  It came together pretty quickly and because I wasn't sure about the blue "honeycomb" I made a second card using yellow.  Which do you prefer?

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Daffodil Delight, Bermuda Bay, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

Wavy Birthday

Today's card is inspired by the CAS Colors and Sketches double challenge.  Usually I have a hard enough time just following a sketch or colours so it's pretty rare that I play long when I have to combine both.  I stumbled across this PTI birthday die that I haven't used in ages and thought it would be perfect for the circle element.  My first attempt at this card used straight blue stripes but it seemed a little meh so I went for some wavy stripes.  (Hopefully it doesn't mean I've started too far from the sketch).  I'm also going to play along with the Anything Goes portion of Seize the Birthday

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Peekaboo Peach, Tempting Turquoise, Marina Mist) Stampin' Up

Alcohol Ink Butterfly

I finally managed to get some crafty time today and this is the first card I made.  I took inspiration  from the photo at The Card Concept to make this CAS card.  Ages ago I was playing round with alcohol inks and I've had a few cardstock panels of it sitting on my desk ever since.  One of them had the perfect colours for this butterfly.  It's an oldie but goodie PTI butterfly die.  I cut it twice from black cardstock to layer up the "frame" of it and then filled it in with a cut from the alcohol ink panel.  The sentiment is from Avery Elle and I placed a few gold Nuvo Crystal Drops around it to make it pop.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, ( Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Sentiment from Cake and Candles) Avery Elle
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black) Tsukineko, (Raspberry, Sailboat Blue, Purple Twilight, Gold) Ranger Alcohol Inks

Flower and Ribbon

I took inspiration from the hot pink flower in the Paper Players photo and thought it would work nicely with the Freshly Made sketch.  Instead of adding leaves to the flowers I used green ribbon behind it.  The flower is an old one from Hero Arts that I coloured with Copics.  The ribbon is also Hero Arts.   A friend was looking at photos of my craft room recently and asked how I use ribbon on my cards.  I said, "I don't!" which got me thinking that I really should try to use some or pass it on to someone who will.  I made two cards using ribbon today and I'm pretty darn pleased with this first one!  (I'll share the other one tomorrow).

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink
Stamps:  (Flower) Hero Arts, (Sentiment from Bigger Blooms) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (VersaFine Onyx Black, Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Markers:  (RV29, R59, YR16, Y17) Copic

Birthday Balloon Kitty

I've got a card today for the Just Us Girls Animals challenge.  When I'm having a slow mojo day I find myself stamping images so that they're ready to colour and die cut when inspiration strikes.  This Newton's Nook kitty was sitting in the pile of stamped images on my desk and seemed like he was all ready to take on this challenge!  I cut a scalloped panel for the sky and stamped some Papertrey Ink clouds on it. I also die cut a matching cloud so I could pop one up on foam tape along with the kitty and the sentiment to create more of a visual triangle.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Bashful Blue, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Cat rom Newton's Birthday Bash) Newton's Nook, (Cloud from Up Up and Away) Papertrey Ink, (Sentiment from Smitten Kitten) My Favourite Things

Rainbow Ridin' By

Today's card is for the Just Us Girls Rainbow Colors challenge.  These fun wavy dies screamed out at me to make a funky rainbow so I obliged.  I white embossed the Reverse Confetti bike and speech bubble on black cardstock so they wouldn't get lost against the rainbow colours.  They're popped up on foam tape and I managed to use a few large gems that have been haunting my craft space for years.  In fact I was so proud of using those embellishments that I made 3 cards just to use up different coloured gems!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Basic Black) Stampin' Up

Scribble Flower Twofer

I've got cards today for Darnell's Twofer challenge where the prompt is Flowers.  I had pulled out my Taylored Expressions Scribble Flowers dies for a recent challenge and while I was making those cards I had the spark of an idea for the Twofer challenge.  For the first card I used the dies to create a simple flower in a frame.  For the second card I took part of the flower and created a fun polka dot background with it.  It's bright and cheery and maybe even a bit silly but overall it has a fun and celebratory feel to it I think.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Hello Beautiful from Essential Sentiments) My Favourite Things, (Happy from Birthday Greetings) Altenew

Brusho Poinsettia

Today's card is for the AAA Cards sketch challenge.  I didn't go with the optional twist to use primary colours because I was deep in Christmas card making mode and wanted to use a poinsettia for the card.  Way back in February I made a bunch of panels using Brushos (see below) and I used a couple of them on this card.  I stamped the Essentials by Ellen flower and leaves onto them and then fussy cut them.  And then I remembered I had the matching dies and didn't need to cut them by hand at all!  *sigh*  Sometimes I really worry about the state of my brain!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Tim Holtz Watercolour) Ranger
Patterned Paper:  (Stay Colorful 6x6) American Crafts

Vintage Santa

Today's card is for the Inspired By... challenge.  I love the vintage look of the picture but I don't have any stamps that really fit that aesthetic.  I have a few sheets of vintage looking patterned paper but have always found them really busy and could never work out how to use them.  Enter Lisa Elton's card which gave me the perfect inspiration for what to do with them!  I think I'll end up with a stack of similar cards that makes use of some of the papers (Christmas and otherwise) that I just don't know what to do with.  Thanks so much, Lisa!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Real Red, Basic Black) Stampin' Up, (Green) Bazzill

I've got one more card to share today.  This one if for the Fusion challenge where I took inspiration from both the sketch and the photo.  I used some more ancient 12x12 paper (yaaaaasss!) and an oldie but goodie PTI set.  Sweet and simple!

Have A Super Day!

I've got a super simple card today for the Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes challenge.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches (who else is still super heartbroken that they've closed?) and I wanted to give it a superhero feel so I went for Superman colours and a super star.  If nothing else I should win the award for using super too many times in one post!

Two Foxes

I've got two more cards from yesterday.  They're for the JUGS (Plaid) and Paper Players (Fall Critters) challenges.  I pulled out an older Lawn Fawn set that has a few adorable woodland animals in it.  This little fox is my favourite and I love how cute he looks sitting with his tail tucked up on that log.  The plaid paper is also Lawn Fawn - remember when this stuff was EVERYWHERE?  I have a bunch of it and have barely cut into it because most of it is so pretty.  Today I was brave and used two whole pieces!  Yay me!  I ended up making two slightly different cards for different occasions.  Which is your favourite?

Supplies Used:

Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Bermuda Bay) Stampin' Up
Patterned Paper:  (Perfectly Plaid: Fall 6x6) Lawn Fawn

Seize the Birthday Guest Designer Part 5

I'm back for my final challenge as Surprise Party Guest at Seize the Birthday.

As usual you can make any kind of birthday card and join the Anything Goes portion of the challenge or you can play along with our Topping which this week is Add Gold!

I had a hard time photographing this card because I kept getting a shine from the gold but I guess it makes it easy to see how pretty it is when you move it in the light.  The butterflies are oldie but goodie Papertrey Ink dies and they're popped up on foam tape over the Essentials by Ellen Skinny Stripes.  My sentiments are usually stamped in black or are embossed in white.  Neither felt right here so I went for some Bermuda Bay ink to compliment the butterfly and I love how it came out!

I want to thank Nancy and the team for having me as Surprise Party Guest for the last two months.  Its been an honor to have my cards showcased along such a talented group at such a long standing challenge!

I hope you'll join in the fun!  You have until 9am (PST) on Tuesday, 8 September to play along.

Seize the Birthday Guest Designer Part 3

I'm back for my third challenge as Surprise Party Guest at Seize the Birthday!

As usual you can make any kind of birthday card and join the Anything Goes portion of the challenge or you can play along with our Topping which this week is a Tic Tac Toe challenge.

I was a little panicked when I saw a Tic Tac Toe challenge because for some reason I really struggle with them.  However I put on my big girl pants and sat down to figure it out.  I ended up going with a diagonal line - One image/Flowers/Large Sentiment - and it was so much easier than I expected!  I dug out my trusty PTI In Bloom flower and stamped it onto coloured cardstock.  I used my Copics to do a little bit of outlining and highlighting around the edges of the flower and leaves and then paired it with a gorgeous scripty Simon Says Stamp birthday sentiment die.  I dithered forever about what colour Nuvo drops to use - purple? green? purple? green? - and finally went for green just so I wouldn't end up sitting there forever!

I hope you'll join in the fun!  You have until 9am (PST) on Tuesday, 11 August to play along.

Supplies Used:
Cardstock:  (White) Papertrey Ink, (Pear Pizazz, Wisteria Wonder, Basic Black) Stampin' Up
Stamps:  (Flower & leaves from In Bloom) Papertrey Ink
Inks:  (Memento Tuxedo Black) Tsukineko
Die:  (Happy Birthday) Simon Says Stamp
Markers:  (YG03, BV23) Copic
Other:  (Nuvo Bottle Green Crystal Drops) Tonic
