Black Friday

The Black Friday shopping tradition started for me years ago.
I LOVE IT!
(It will never be the same without you Dawn!)
The deals are amazing and the people are hilarious.  I don't know what I like better...the deals or watching people run down aisles, crash their carts or wait in never ending lines for a bargain.
This year I COULD NOT get any of my friends to join my adventure (YOU BUMS) so my plan was to head out alone.  BUT...I talked my MOM into joining me.  YA MOM!
This was her first BLACK FRIDAY experience.

This was our schedule:

10:30   I arrived at Walmart to scope out the midnight deals, only to discover you could already get the stuff, you just couldn't check out until midnight.

11:45  My Mom arrived along with everyone else in town.
 IT WAS CRAZY!

Here is what I was after...
Jammies for Seri and Jett    $4.00 a pair
Polar fleece zip-up for Seri and Jett   $5.00 each
Polar fleece sweat suit for Jett   $5.00
2 Barbies for Seri  $5.00 each (regularly 12.99 each)
The game Cootie  $4.00
Legos for Jett  $15.00 (regularly $30.00)
Crayola coloring packs for Jett  $5.00 (regularly $9.00)
Lulu's kitten for my neice $10.00 (regularly $20.00)

12:30  We waited to get in line thinking it would go down once the registers opened at midnight.
We were wrong.
The line got longer.  It wrapped completely around the store and zig zag'd down the main aisle three times.  Needless to say we spend an 1 1/2 hours in line, but it was soooo worth it for me.
My Mom was not as impressed.
I don't think she will do it again.  :)

 Here we are in line.
The lady in front of us bailed not much longer after this picture.
We got to know the man in front of us pretty well.  He was standing in line to buy his granddaughter a new bike.
What a nice Grandpa.
Here is my lovely mother.  I think this was a forced smile.
It was taken at about 1:00 am.

2:00 am   Finally left Walmart and headed home for a few hours rest.  My Mom spent the night so we could get up and go quickly.

2:30 am  Went to bed.

6:30am  Woke up, to get more deals.  Coffee.

7:00  Target
Even though Target had been open since 4:00 am,
the line still wrapped all the way around the store.

Here is what I was after at Target:
Sherpa lined hooded zip up sweatshirts  $7.00
More jammies for Seri  $5.00
Red and white plaid chenille throw  $10.00 (regularly $20.00)
Flannel shirt for Jett $5.00

8:00  Home Depot
Sounds silly to head there but they had great deals!

Poinsettias for .99 cents (regularly $7.00)
Large fresh evergreen wreaths for $5.00 (regularly $20.00)
30 pack of Duracell AA batteries $5.00  (can you believe that?)
Eugenia topiary  $10.00 (topiaries are one of my favorite things.  I could resist, even though it wasn't on sale.)
A NEW WASHER AND DRYER!!!!!!
Washer $199
Dryer  $299
*They should be arriving in 2-3 weeks and I can HARDLY wait.

10:30  Breakfast

10:45  Fred Meyer for buy 1 get 1 free on Crayola products

11:00 BiMart
My Mom is a HUGE BiMart fan.  I went for her.  Although, I did get some cute snow boots.  Who knew?

12:00  My Mom wanted to keep shopping, but I was the one who gave up.  Way to go Mom!

12:15  HOME!
Soooooooo tired.

All in all, it was another great year of Black Friday shopping.
Until next year.

Thanksgiving with Grandy and Papa

We had a nice, quiet, simple
 Thanksgiving dinner
at my parent's house this year.  My brother's and sister's families were out of town, so it was just the five of us...
Mama, Seri, Jett, Grandy and Papa.

Seri made place cards for everyone.

We used my Grandmother's beautiful dishes.
I adore them.

(Seri is sure to show off her crazy loose front tooth.  It is SO loose that it has moved over and left a huge space between her teeth.)

I am soooooo thankful for these two and the rest of my family.
Another great Thanksgiving.

My Little Entertainer.

I love watching and listening to my little man dance and sing.
Too cute for words.
I hope I always remember these moments.

Pretty Darn Cute

One of Jett and Seri's favorite things to do around here is to dress up.

(I think I need to get him the superhero dress-up clothes he wants for Christmas.)

Jett is wearing my wig from Halloween...he makes a pretty cute little girl, right?
Seri is wearing her old ballet unitard backwards...reminds me a little of JLo.
Should I be concerned she likes to wear it like that?
Pretty. Darn. Cute.

My Thrifty Finds This Week.

One of my favorite things to do is go to Thrift Stores.
I usually go to the neighborhood Goodwill twice a week.
Some days I find nothing and walk out empty handed, other days I score DEALS!
Today was one of those days.

Here is what I walked away with...

Growing up we had similar Santa mugs. I loved them and even remember my Mom getting them out every year. We have searched high and low for those mugs and my Mom thinks she must of gotten rid of them. Even though these aren't the exact mugs, they are very similar and I am excited for Seri and Jett to have their own to drink their hot chocolate from.

$.99 each

I spotted this chair across the store and I practically ran (more like speed walked with my cart) to snag it. It was FILTHY, but I grabbed it to use in my classroom.
A little SPIC AND SPAN and it looks brand new.
*I tell ya...I should've listened to my Mom years ago when she told me to use SPIC AND SPAN. She left some at my house after helping clean
when I moved in and I put it to work tonight.
My new chair is lookin' brand new!

$3.99

This wreath reminded me of one my Grandma had growing up.
It's 100% plastic, but I love the colors.
I don't know where I will put it...maybe hang it in a small window with ribbon or up on a shelf. Nobody will even know it's plastic.

$0.49
I couldn't take a very good picture of my new EXTRA LARGE PENCIL, but it's awesome.
I think this is the one I have been eyeing in Pottery Barn for a few years now.
I kind of want to find a place for it at home but I know it will be perfect to hang above our writing center in my classroom.

$2.99

My last find was this super soft, vintage looking pillow. I couldn't resist.
I think it will be cute on Jett's green and white polka-dot bed.

$1.99

GRAND TOTAL
$12.92

It was a good night at the Goodwill.

My little photographer.

Seri got her own camera for Christmas last year.
She LOVES it.
Tonight I needed to borrow it since I left my camera at school and I found over 700 pictures!
I have quite the little photographer.
Here are some of her best.

The neighbor's house out the front window.

Her beloved vanity where she spends A LOT of her time.
Miss Marli

This one is my favorite. Love the light.
*Notice the pink hair extensions from her Strawberry Shortcake doll.

Happy Adoption Day!

It was 3 years ago today that I became a Mama to my beautiful little girl. I am so lucky. Her smile lights up a room. Her giggle is contagious.
She is beautiful, energetic, kindhearted and spunky.
I love her to pieces.

This is the first picture we took of our sweet Seri. It was the first day we brought her to her new home. She was SO excited she could barely sit still. Her smile beamed the entire night and still does 3 years later.

Mama's Boy

A moment I want to remember...

Scene: Jett is in his blue football jammies dragging his big brown nigh night (blanket) across the wood floor to me in the living room.

Jett: "Mama, can I give you a kiss?"
Mama: "Oh, yes. I love your kisses."
Jett climbs into my lap, gives me a kiss on each cheek and a smacker on the lips. A HUGE hug follows and while holding on to me tightly he says,

Jett: "Mama, I loooooove you all the way to God and back to our house. I love you so much."
Mama: "Oh, I love you too buddy. I love you to the moon and back."
Jett: " Mama, I love you to the sun and back."

We sit and snuggle for a few more minutes, then he climbs down and heads back to bed.

Sweet thing. Mama's boy.

Where do our evenings go?

As I was driving home tonight and it was almost dark already, I got a little sad feeling like my day is being cut short. No more coming home and the kids playing outside while I make dinner. We are going to have to start a different evening routine for fall and winter. (Those of you who know me well know that I am all about routine for my kiddos.)
The evenings go by so fast.

4:30-5:00 Home from school, backpacks emptied, shoes and coats away, SWEATS on for Mama
5:00-5:30 Seri reads to me while I make dinner. Jett is usually at the table creating something. Tonight it was a bracelet for me. love. I am still wearing it.
5:30-6:15 Dinner, dishes, quick bath, jammies, set clothes out for tomorrow
6:15-6:50 We relax together by the fire and candlelight to watch a movie. We all sit down and relax for a few minutes. One of my favorite times of the day.
Nice, quiet, calm, house.
6:50-7:15 Teeth brushed, stories, snuggles and goodnights. Up at 6:30 am.

P.S. This is why I love Duraflame logs. Cozy.

Being Thankful

Our discussions at our dinner table the last few nights has been about being thankful. God has provided us with many things and we are blessed to have each other, our home, food on the table and so much more. Before dinner we have been saying something we are thankful for. It is so cute to see them really think about the things they are thankful for and try to verbalize it...without being silly.
Here are some of the things they have expressed they are thankful for...

JETT
~Tonight, Jett said he was thankful for his corn, potatoes and milk. (Funny. He was very serious.)
~Last night he said he was thankful for his Mama, Daddy and Seri. (Very sweet.)

SERI
~Tonight Seri said she was thankful for the colorful leaves falling from the trees. "I am thankful God made such beautiful leaves that I could play in today." (We went on a nature walk today to collect leaves to make a collage. We spent the early afternoon collecting, throwing and piling leaves at the park. She LOVED it and is obviously starting to appreciate our beautiful surroundings.)
~Last night she said she was thankful for her Mommy, Daddy, brother and animals.
MAMA
What am I thankful for? Hmm...where do I start?
Here are just a few of the many things I am thankful for.
~My wonderful children, ofcourse. God has given me the amazing gift of being their Mama and I thank him many times a day.
~Our comfortable little home. We have made many memories here already and I look forward to many, many, many, many, many more.
~My vw. It gets us where we need and want to be, keeps us safe, has room for Gus and Henry and even with all the spills, tears and tantrums that have occured in it, it continues to be a cute and comfy "mom mobile".
~The girls at Espresso Express...they are my savior every morning...rain or shine, they make the best sf vanilla lattes.
~Duraflame logs. The easy way to enjoy a crackling fire during our nightly movies and books.
~My flannel sheets, down comforter and my blanket....without them I would not get the sleep I need to survive spending my entire day with little people. Yes, I still sleep with my baby blanket.
~Trees. Lately they have been my favorite things. Their beauty and strength inspire me everyday.
~Flowers.
~Music. Without it we wouldn't have our dance parties in the kitchen.

to be continued...

Ummm...isn't it November?

Just checking.

My Artist

I have been home the last two days with a sick little boy. Yesterday was spent cuddling on the couch, wiping a snotty nose, giving breathing treatments and soothing a crying and sick 3 year old. When his fever spiked at 102 yesterday, I decided I needed to stay home yet again today. This afternoon he is feeling TONS better. One of his favorite things lately is to make things, especially since he has learned how to use scissors. He has been "creating" masks and a flag for almost two hours now. The kids have a craft cupboard in the kitchen filled with everything they could ever need. He is cutting, glueing, taping and drawing and completely content. All of his projects are for his favorite person right now...his wonderful Preschool Teacher/Daycare provider Kathy. He is so excited to take them to her tomorrow.

This is the mess Mama gets to clean up.
Seri taught him how to trace his hand. They are the gloves.
Here is his first flag...made all by himself. Stripes and all. He was so proud.
The mask. I help cut out the eyes, but he does the rest.

LOVE my little artist.

Leaf Garland

The Pottery Barn Kids catalog came in the mail the other day...one of my favorite things. I fell in love with the leaf garland but could never fathom spending $49.00. Well.....while shopping at Rite Aid last night (the fastest place to run in for milk. The milk is actually in the front of the store and not in the VERY back. Helps when you have two kiddos.) I found the clearance section with adorable big fall leaves in packages of 6 for $0.49. Bargain! A little twine and some clothespins and I have my own leaf garland. It's not as cute, but will work considering mine cost less than $5.oo. Nice.

Happy Halloween!

Jett looked pretty cute in my wig. Yes, a wig and sunglasses is as "festive" as Mama got. They thought I was hilarious. They kept asking me if I still had my old hair. Ha!

Look at that cute booty!
Cheers to a great dinner by Mama and Auntie...mummy hotdogs, pumpkin face pizzas and witches brew to drink, including witch fingers and worms. SO MUCH FUN!

Happy Halloween!
